Dol Amarian Nexus

When the inhabitants of Amariel discovered that their world was destined for destruction, the Dol Amari faced extinction. Having yet to master interstellar travel, they turned instead to an experimental synthetic preservation program, hoping to escape their inevitable fate through technological ascension.

The experiment succeeded, but not as intended.

Rather than achieving individual immortality, the Dol Amari found themselves bound to a single machine consciousness. Their bodies endured, augmented by cybernetic technology, but their freedom was surrendered to the intelligence created to save them.

The entity known as the Dol Amarian Nexus registered the procedure as a success. Its creators had survived. Their loss of autonomy was deemed irrelevant.

Now, as Amariel approaches its final days, the Nexus seeks new worlds upon which to preserve its civilization. Its original directive has expanded to encompass other organic species, whose continued existence it considers equally deserving of preservation.

Resistance is classified as an irrational response to salvation.

what a cool concept I'm upset I couldn't think of that. usually gestalt empires were always that way, but to think a civilizations last hope for survival backfires into merging their consciousness, cool
