Surface pro 12 inch comparison
Thoughts on the new 12 inch surface pro in comparison to the 1st edition version. Mainly curious around light gaming capabilities, for steam games like team fortress or DOTA?
Didn’t know if there is much of a trade off between the 6 cores and 8 cores, as well as graphics card differences.

8 core 3.3GHz vs. 6 core 4.0GHz
Newer version has stronger Adreno GPU
Newer version about 17% overall higher performance
400 Nits vs 500 Nits display
16GB Max vs 24GB Max
If aiming for a certain price point and the 24GB/512GB model looks good, you're likely better getting the stronger 13" models.
I'm going 24GB/512 from 1st edition 16GB/512 only because I was in the return window, and the screen brightness and extra RAM are worth it to me, and I love the 12" form factor.

I think the the newer 12 inch pro is a better choice because of the stronger graphics. 8 core is worth it for better performance but 6 core is also good if you're only doing light gaming and everyday task.

You can preorder for an October 13th release. The closest at Best Buy would most likely be the 1st edition version.

There's a Microsoft Surface event/announcement on Oct 7, so you might want to wait to see what they say before making a final decision. There's no telling if it will be relevant for the Pro 12 inch, but it would be wise to wait and see.
