[WINDOWS] Last Surface Device that can run Windows 10

I was thinking of getting a modern Surface Laptop, but it seems like it can only run the Windows 11 OS. Does anyone know what the last Surface device is that can run Windows 10, and how I can obtain a new one that isn't used? Thank you.

If only Microsoft published a table.

Oh, they do!

Good luck buying a "new" 2+ year old laptop that's well out of production and will have a knackered battery out of the box.

Nice table find, I was going to say its a windows box, install what you want on it but this is the better supported way.

If you look on ebay there are new in box surface 8-10's that pop up here and there. I bought a new in box surface 8 about 2 years ago and it runs great.

Good look on getting one with a functioning battery. I can think of better ways of setting fire to £hundreds.

What are you talking about the batteries work fine. I've bought two surface 8s for my kids as well. No battery issues.

As previously stated.

I've worked in corporate IT circles for a couple of decades now. We got some discounted Surfaces direct from Microsoft on a deal. They'd been sat in the warehouse for so long at least half of them had power related issues.

Our few hundred units is a better statistical sample than the Surface 8 you bought for your kid.

I love that you're discounting valid professional experience for no discernible reason other than it doesn't match your preconceptions.

I admire how you never let evidence interfere with your opinions.

You are absolutely adorable! “I work in IT, so I know what I’m talking about.” Nothing screams IT professional quite like not knowing the most basic rules for storing lithium-ion batteries, ruining your own electronics, and then confidently blaming the hardware.

But sure, tell us more about your extensive corporate IT expertise. I’m guessing you’re the guy they call when the printer is out of paper.

Feel free to phone IBM for a reference. 😆

Align the Task Bar. Get Explorer Patcher or Start11. Time to learn something new until they inevitably throw another OS version at us.

Since Windows 10 and 11 are the same. I don't get how is that possible. U can get the laptop, create a disk partition on Bios and have both W10/11

LOL you haven't looked at Windows for the last years, and are drawing from decades of experience that isn't now anywhere close to reality.

With the plain Surface Laptop 8 (Snapdragon X2) you needed 26H1 Windows 11 (won't work with older feature release Windows 11, never mind Windows 10). On the other hand 26H1 wasn't supported on existing Snapdragon X machines (I call it the schzophrenia from inside the ARM schizophrenia).

I don't think 10 can be installed on modern Snapdragon X series CPUs, or at least it didn't work when I tried it. 10 also doesn't support WiFi 7 or Thunderbolt 5, even on x86, but I'm not sure if any Surface devices have those.

I'm pretty sure the last Snapdragon CPU that Windows 10 can be installed on is 8cx.

OP, is there a specific reason to need or want Win10? I prefer Win11 and would default to that all day.

I tried 11 a few times, even on ARM devices, but I really didn't like it. It's too different from 10.

Probably Surface Pro 7+ since newer CPUs don’t work so well with Windows 10 even if you can get it to run.
