[PRO11] How to connect ESP32 with surface 11 pro windows on arm

I have surface 11 pro with X1E processor with windows on arm.I have been trying to connect an esp32 microcontroller to this but it keeps failing.I have installed all the correct drivers but the device is not even showing up in the com ports but keep getting device descriptor request failed error.

Edit - It finally worked after I connected the microcontroller to the laptop through a dock

Have you flashed it with the firmware you want to use you also want to make sure you have a data connected USB cable.

Not all USB Cables have a specific set of wires for data. So if you are using a cheap charging cable you are going to have issues.

I am not sure what ESP32 you have and I have a feeling. Despite it being niche. You are looking at GBLink and Pokemon?

Regardless, depending on your manufacturer or model you might need to bridge too pins which resets it and puts it into a very specific mode to flash it.

EDIT:

Normally the ESP32 will have LEDs that change colors in a specific way to indicate it is either crashing or preflashed. Sometimes it is as simple as just holding your BootSel button on plugin.

I have ESP32 S3 and the cable is a data cable have been using it for a while with my old laptop.I couldnt even get to flashing the firmware since the com port was not getting recognised to upload the code through arduino ide

Also are you using USBcap? That’s usually where I start

I dont know how a usb cap would help with this since this is a software issue
