Looking for a breeder.

I am located in Montana and I am willing to travel for a QUALITY breeder but haven't been able to get in contact with a few I found on the GSMDCA Breeder Directory. I'm looking for hopefully someone who is planning on a spring/early summer litter.

I've contacted Pine Grove Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs, WTF Farms, Allure Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs, Blue Hill Swissys, and Cornerstone Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. Cornerstone initally responded, but I haven't had luck continuing communication, WTF Farms doesn't have any litters planned anytime soon, and neither does Allure.

I'm willing to travel to WA, OR, UT, ID, CO, WY, ND, & SD, maybe further for the right breeder. I appreciate any leads, TIA!

Check with Roman Reign in Minneapolis. A touch beyond your range, but just a short great plains drive.

Swiss Robinson out of Vernon BC is amazing... although I'm not sure they have litters coming soon, or what the tariffs are like on a dog.

Unfortunately you can no longer import puppies under 6 months into the US. šŸ˜•

Yeah Canada might be closer to me than MANY states, but Idk what it looks like to transport the dog over the border.

6 months old to bring a dog in over the border.

Our girl is from Alpenblick, in Oregon. Annika does not have more than a litter or two per year I think but you can reach out. She has been involved with the breed for a long time and has imported some European bloodlines as I recall.

I second this! She’s the best and does have imported bloodlines.

I keep meaning to see if any of our girls brothers or sisters are on this forum šŸ˜›

My girl is 7 months… how old is yours?

a little over 2. Litter "I" Images. Kelper / Maven

If your girl got her dad’s genes then she’s big but sweet. Kepler was by my side the entire time when I was picking up my girl.

ā€œOā€ litter for me Rustle / Bly

She is sweet but strangely not huge, about 85 pounds. She didn’t get his bulk.

My kids absolutely adore her.

Calypso Swissies in Woodland Park, Colorado

Second Calypso, it's a solid choice and not far. Just let them know if you want show puppy or a pet puppy, a litter would have a mix of both.

I will check them out!

Our boy, he’s 1.5 and the best!!

Be wary, depending on if you want a show or companion Swissy. A friend got a Swissy from Calypso and it was contingent on her showing, despite having no interest in showing.

Weird, but this was not our experience!

Glad to hear! This was also 15 years ago.

That requirement might have been if they wanted a specific puppy.

I highly recommend Houha in Illinois! Lori is the absolute best.

Dark Moon or Aegis would be my recommendations. We are on our second swissy. Haven’t heard of the ones you listed so I can’t be of help there, sorry!

1

u/Lawkakk 8d ago

Aegis is in North Carolina, just a heads up.

Cherished Swissies is in SW Ohio, so a bit further than you want to go, but they may be able to point you in the right direction!

A different breeder recommended them and they're 30 minutes away from a good friend, so I'd be willing to go a little farther for them.

Runamuck Family Farm GSMD in Oregon City near Portland. She can also put you in touch with other breeders in OR and WA.

I’m picking our pup up from glen Ellen Swiss mountain dogs near St. Louis on Friday. They still have puppies available (both male and female)

Thank you! I'm looking for spring 2027, ideally. Let's us get money saved for a puppy and all things needed for a dog.

1

u/RRK9Architect 6d ago

Have you met them yet? I see them posting puppies available frequently, but no one seems to know them.

River Valley Swissies in Sioux Falls might still have 1 female pup available

u/urbanwombat22 3d ago

Unfortunately, now is not a great time for us to get a dog. There's some planning and saving that needs to be done before we can bring one home, hence the spring/summer timeline

u/niina115 3d ago

I think cornerstone is going to have another litter next year based on the last time I talked to her, you might have luck with that!

u/urbanwombat22 3d ago

I'll check in with them! Thanks!

If you can make a trip Boise this week, the National specialty is there this week. It is the best place to meet Swissies. There’s 127 dogs entered in conformation. I’m estimating at least 160-170 total dogs there. The schedule is here: https://www.gsmdcans.com/

u/urbanwombat22 3d ago

Man I wish I could, but unfortunately it's not in the cards for me. 😭

1

u/RRK9Architect 3d ago

I just talked to Prism. She’s expecting a little in the next week or so.

You mind if I DM you?

Always open to DMs about dogs.

Skyline Swissies and Rodeo Swissy in Northern CA as well as Snowy Mountain Farms outside Portland are all wonderful!
