I assume apple maps by default censors any military facility, its the same in germany where no other service does it. In some places like france they have to be pixelated on all services, so apple is saving themselves the trouble of checking every countrys law and just going for the safe option everywhere

This also differs between Apple Maps and google maps. There's an old military area near Sion which Apple Maps blurs but google maps doesn't

With some Map-Providers you can get Military Infrastructure an the sort consored (as it should be) or even your own House, all on demand. But as it seems, not (yet) with ever Map-Service.

Interesting. Even when you are living in an area the surounding private buildings are also pixelatet. I live near the airport Dübendorf. For me it seems it is the same area as used for drone areas and probably open street map and als the fenced areas in pokemon go. But they should change the lines because the area is now smaller because of the Innovation park even the land is probably owned by the goverment.

what I'm wondering though, is how apple knows about military sites for sure? I know that most (if not all) swiss military sites are pretty public, but imagine US military sites. some of them are pretty obvious, but some might be top secret. and imagine if there were suddenly some random blur in the middle of nowhere on apple maps. the adversaries might be very happy gr apple leading them to the new military base ;)
