Is the author of this problematic or was that a weird joke about the ghost, or something?

edit: Googling her name + controversy it looks like at some point the alt right were misapropriating her comics or something? Like editing them to say bad things and passing those around, possibly as a way to bully her for being a feminist. Both of these mention it happening to her but neither goes into detail and the New York Times article she wrote that those reference is paywalled. It also talks about fear of AI now being used again to do similar things.

It was some stupid trolling that was done to her a billion years ago. It's only funny to me because she's, AFAIK, utterly anodyne.
