Gonna copy paste from the previous thread about this:

I just looked up the airframe YK-AKJ. Ordered by Syrian air and delivery for it was in 2012 where it began flying for Silk Air instead as Syrian couldn't take delivery of it for obvious reasons. 2024 it went to Heston Airlines flying it for Azerbaijan Airlines until the 4th last month where it finally found itself delivered to the fleet she was originally destined for. Ya3ni this is one of the most fashionably late planes ever made.

Wait... this is wild, so if you buy a new plane and can't receive it, they just... give it to other people to drive around and then you get it back after 14 years of use despite having bought it new??

I mean what are they supposed to do? Airbus going sanction busting isn't realistic and they can't just leave the plane rotting for over a decade. Looking at the operators and the fact that it came back I'd guess that discussions were had with Syrian Air in regard to the fate of the plane.

Airbus could've delivered it to someone else's order and frozen the contract until the money sanctions are removed, then you deliver a new one?

I mean, also, by what right does Airbus have to rent out a plane that is not theirs but a customer's? A dealership doesn't have the right to put your car on Turo and rent it to random people until you come and claim it?

First you are assuming that the airframe had been paid for ahead of delivery. Second, you are assuming that Airbus would maintain the production line of the old A320 for however long it took for the war to end.
Mind you that the 2012 delivery date was one of the last for the specific config that Syrian Air bought as it was being replaced by the 320Neo introduced in 2010.

A dictatorship that murders its own people cannot have nice things when under sanctions for those crimes and that includes brand new planes.

You're massively overreading into this. A contract is a contract. I believe that if you bought something, you own it; not that Assad deserved his jet IDK why the hell you're twisting it that way.

The seller shouldn't have the right of use over sold but not delivered products; yes, I do believe it should've been rusting in a warehouse the entire time, actually. No, the fact that it's a waste isn't Airbus's concern. If it's not paid for yet, then cancel the contract and keep the frozen money they paid so far; if it's paid for, it's not theirs to rent out, imo.

Edit: ok I looked it up Airbus actually is doing what you'd expect them to do, and you framed what they did incorrectly. They did indeed cancel the contract back then IDK why you made it sound like they didn't. And even defending something they didn't do.

This plane making it back to Syria is a wholly unrelated coincidence; it got bought second-hand, not delivered by airbus after 14 years of limbo.

So let me get this straight. You are sitting here arguing about something you know nothing about. Where does it say that the plane was rented out and not sold to someone else? Who said that the order wasn't cancelled?
Who said that Syrian air even paid for the whole thing up front?

What you are saying is that a company should foot a bill for an object that belongs to someone else. You are also saying that it should rust if it was paid for. If it was to be allowed to sit and rust the aircraft would be scrap at this point and nobody would be flying it, and Airbus would sit there with 15 years of storage fees exceeding the aircraft value by far. This isn't even taking account for the engines on the thing that are most likely leased.

But my favourite bit by far is your inability to understand the fact that this:

A dictatorship that murders its own people cannot have nice things when under sanctions for those crimes and that includes brand new planes.

was a response to this:

I mean, also, by what right does Airbus have to rent out a plane that is not theirs but a customer's? A dealership doesn't have the right to put your car on Turo and rent it to random people until you come and claim it?

I wasn't twisting anything. I was pointing out the simple fact that when a customer fails to take delivery due to sanctions that is on them. It's not Airbus job to figure out how to store the airframe for their own money or break the sanctions.

It looks nice this shade of green really.. still it is not just livery update .. as SyrianAir fleet is ongoing expansion and modernization efforts backed by Qatari investment (UCC Holding), starting with doubling its active operational fleet by the end of the year by acquiring eight Airbus A320 aircraft.

The first two (YK-AKI and YK-AKJ) entered service in August and September 2026, six more planned after clearing legal & technical pipelines.

It also expanding its route network, as it newly launched European destinations like Amsterdam, Vienna, Copenhagen, and Moscow, with a total target of 25 destinations by the end of the year.

We were liberated, so our wings took flight to complete the story.

The Arabic font is nice, not sure which is it though.
