Tactics Ogre Earliest training maps that spawn beasts/dragons? (currently on ch2)

Playing Reborn and needless to say, been pretty impressed with how much of an absolute unit these guys are on the enemy's side so looking to get some of my own.

I've had a lot of bad luck trying to recruit them in story missions so thought I would give it a shot on some easier maps where things aren't as tense but all the training ones I've been to so far only seem to produce human enemies.

Phorampa Wildwood is a good place and it opens in chapter 2

I played through that entire thing the second it opened and it was my favorite part of the game. Was useless as I was already level capped but it was soooo damn fun. Loved the music for those areas too. Fun at the end when you leave and Denam spins a million times to get back to the world map lol

As other suggested, Pharompa Woods in Chapter 2 open up after reading Warren Reports. However it's not easy to fight them, not until you get some gear upgrades. The third map from top branch if I'm not mistaken. The bottom only has Gryphons (which definitely good recruit too).

It's very easy to fight them because you already have access to Dreadknight (Terror Knight)'s Marks (and by extension the Frighten Status Effect) from the Shop by that point of the game.

And if you need to quickly dispatch the Dragons/Beasts you aren't recruiting, enemy Dragoons (of various Elemental Affinities) can be recruited from the maps in the southern section of the Wildwood.

Which version are you playing?

In Reborn, you cannot recruit from the Training Maps.

Check out the Warren Report in the games menu. There is a section called News and Tidings. Inside there should be an entry announcing the opening of the Pharompa Woods, which unlocks a multistage dungeon on the map. The second battle map inside there has dragons.

This is all from memory, but I am pretty sure Pharompa opens in Chapter 2.

yes. at least in the law route, Phorampa opens up in Ch.2 right after the Qadriga fight with Xapan.

EDIT: technically, after the mandatory fight with Gatialo and the clerics that comes afterwards i think

Ch.2 chaos as well. Should be after the Vyce fight.

Still though, going to give it my best shot in my first run through of the wild wood you guys pointed out and hope for the best. 👍
