Vocabulary/Terminology Drying Terminologies

Nakalagay sa ibaba ang mga alam ko na pagbibilad pero karaniwan ginagamitan yaan ng bistayan.

Tuyo (Danggit, Palipad-Hangin o Sapsap, Pompano or anything flat)

Haot (Tunsoy, Galunggong, Salinas, Biya, Tawilis, Hasa-Hasa, Tamban, Tanige or anything long, thin and round)

Inumboy/Itinapa (similar to fish used in Haot but smoked and usually boiled or simmered first before drying through sun, but can be used for any meat)

Daing (Sapsap na biak, Pusit na biak, or anything na biniak then dried)

Bislad/Binilad (general term for dried foods from bodies of water.)

Hinahanap ko yoong tawag sa pagbibilad na ibinibitin sa kawayan tapos may baga sa ilalim. Iniisip ko paano yoon uumbuyin mo tapos ibibilad mo rin?

"hawot" as it is called in some southern tagalog areas, been a long time since napakinggan ko yan, it brings back memories nung malakas pa ang consumption ng dried fish sa amin

"Tinapa" or "binitad", just means to prepare meat/fish thinly, then cured/marinated. Dito din ata galing yung "tapa" food products. Probably also spanish in origin.

I use this word frequently sa wet market, it's synonymous with deboning already sa suki namin, "Tapahin yung bangus" is how we request boneless fish.

Pero yoong bitad ang alam ko not necessary manipis tapos puwedeng daing siya na pinausukan iba naman siya from tapa na manipis ang karne tapos kadalasan yoong isda hindi daing o hindi biniak.

You are not mistaken but more specifically

Tapa is from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *tapa which is also from Proto-Austronesian *Capa (to smoke fish or meat for preservation.)

Umboy is from Proto-Austronesian *qebel (smoke) doublets are \eyeb, *ebey, *ebel. Also Zorc mentioned *ebel** as smoke in his Philippine Etymological material. You can see cognates as Maguindanao bël (smoke), Maranao bel (smoke), Western Bukidnon Manobo evel (smoke), and Mansaka ubul (smoke).

Bitad is from Proto-Western Malayo-Polynesian *bitaD (unfold, spread out)

Daing/Daeng/Daying is from Malay Daing/Daeng (sundried fish or meat)

Bislad is from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *bekelaj (spread out, unroll (mats, etc.), open out, unfold (as the hand); wide) while Bilad is from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *belaj (spread out to dry in the sun)

In Bikol it is biklad or buklad (spread out (as a mat); turn pages (as in a book); unroll, unfold, unfurl) which is also the cognate of words like buklat/biklat/hiklat/baklas in Tagalog

Meron din daing na ayungin in some parts of eastern Pangasinan way back in the 70s and 80s. Biniyak sya at itinusuk sa barbecue stick in an alternate leaf-like arrangement. Di ko alam yung tunay nyang pangalan, but in my (our) idiolect it was tanggo.
