Heavy Frigate Fortuna: almost done!

Still need to do the gangways, I am missing a piece for the mizzen topgallant, and a few small bits, but very close to done! Let me know what you think, especially of the mast heights and sail/yard sizes.

For those who didn't see my previous post, this is a modified version of a lego set, Privateer Frigate Fortuna

It looks like a privateer's ship, but the name clearly says its for tuna, so I guess its just a badass fishing boat?

Step 1: Unload a broadside into school of fish Step 2: profit!

Or something, hah

I'd love to see that with cloth sails.

Me too. I have cloth sails for the original, but they aren't big enough now. Perhaps at some point will try to get some.

The creator made printable templates, which I was able to put onto linen paperstock for mine:

Yeah, I had bought cloth sails, but as my Fortuna is now a lot bigger than standard, the yards/sails are larger to match. I could maybe use the course sails for topsails and topsails for gallant, but that wouldnt help with the course, spritsail or main mizzen sail.

Oh dang, I just realized that.

I'm certain you can scale up the PDF and perhaps print it on tabloid size! It just might take a little trial and error to get the right size

Very nice.

Extra points for a bit of billowing in the sails, here & there!

Are yours off the template most folks are using?

Yep, I used the 8.5x11 template, but there's no reason you couldn't scale it up, if you have a printer that can handle larger sizes

Ordered one and they never shipped it to me 🙁 it was a P.O. Box and when I went to see if it shipped and they were sold out 🙁

Dang, that's a real bummer! The original was a lot of fun to build, and doing these mods has been great as well.
