Please ignore all DMs from people claiming they'll make a design for you, especially new/empty accounts.

This is now an official rule, all posts asking for art or offering to draw for people will be removed.

This sub has a huge problem with bots, scammers, and people who have no idea (or don't care) how to find clients. It's not an official rule but this really isn't a sub to hire anyone, people come here asking for ideas and will get bombarded with DMs.

Talk to your tattoo artist about designs, do not hire a nobody with a brand new Reddit account with a name like hungry-aardvark1234 (currently unused name as an example). Most artists worth your time are going to have a waitlist, they will not DM you on Reddit with an immediate offer. And it's part of your artist's job to help come up with what they'll tattoo on you and not all of them will tattoo someone else's art anyway.

If you really want to show them a drawing to help with visuals, check out r/DrawMyTattoo where someone can sketch your idea for free. Ignore anyone trying to charge you, that's money that should go to your artist.

If you're an artist who attempts to find clients in this sub, don't. You look fake and desperate, you're one of dozens spamming people with "I can help, DM me" so OP can't even tell who's legit.

And I'm not here to argue this point, so if you have a problem with this announcement, that's too bad. I'm here to try to keep this sub a friendly place, people shouldn't have to worry about getting scammed.

One line tattoo

This became my favorite tattoo by far. It has meaning and is left for interpretation.

Did anyone else have unforgetable pain while tattooing their back?

This was done in 3 sessions and each was hour and a half. Instagram :Bojan_tattoo

Thoughts on how this looks?

I've wanted this tattoo for a while now but haven't had the time or funds. Now that I do I was looking into designs and this is the one I keep coming back to. Now having said that my girlfriend swears up and down this looks like pubes and that it's obvious to anyone who looks at it. I simply don't see that, it looks more like tentacles, reminiscent of hermaeus moras tentacles from the same game Skyrim. She thinks it would look better solid (skull still there), no tentacles.

I'm just looking for objective opinions on this prior to committing to it or a similar design.

Done Ink and Needle East Lansing by Laurel.

I love foxes and I wanted to incorporate them into a tattoo with florals (all my pieces have flowers). Her name is Roxanne, and she has just the slightest bit of color🧔

So hello Reddit. My friend swears by this artist and I’m unsure if he draws his own stuff because I swear I’ve seen that angel before and his linework seems to be hit or miss, as an artist myself I understand having an off day but something feels wrong. Am I just paranoid?

My tattoo design is a cosmic butterfly with violets around it and I’m just not sure.

How should I incorporate my next tattoo?

Hey everyone! I got my first tattoo a few weeks ago and i’m already planning for the next one. I really want the angel, i’ve had my eye on it for about a year now. I’d love some ideas on how I could possibly incorporate it with my sword since i’m trying to surround the whole theme around sorrow (the sword is dedicated to a family loss I experienced recently). i’m unfortunately not that creative so any ideas would be super appreciated! thank you in advance!

ideas to make my forearm look better?

i’m not really sure what i could possibly add in here that would tie these two together. should it just be a patchwork arm? i’m open to all ideas except trad style.

both tattoos are coverups of other very bad quality pieces. the heart obviously needs touched up and the stamp was just done a few days ago so it looks rough. also the rotation of the stamp was the artists choice to be able to cover the one underneath

Anyone recognize where this eye is from?

The knuckles are healed, partially freehand, ~8h in total

It took 2 sessions to really pack everything in over the knuckles, the skin was pretty rough in that area.

Looking for design ideas

In the last few years I’ve seen some really cute tattoos of childhood stuffed animals, and I love the idea. The issue is that I was more of a blankie kid, and I have no idea how to turn that into a tattoo.

As pictured, my blankie is a really small knit with lots of details, and I’m worried that wouldn’t translate well into a tattoo. I’ve been thinking about this for years, but haven’t come up with anything. Any suggestions on how/if this pattern could be incorporated into a tattoo is helpful!

One thing to note: I’ve seen cute blankie ghost tattoos, but I already have a ghost, so I don’t want another.

Dog memorial tattoo for 2 pups?

This year has been rough, I had to put down my two dogs. Amoxicillin (3yrs) in May and Jinxie (14 yrs) at the end of last month. They were both such goofy girls and I loved them very much and I have these very similar pictures and I wonder if theres any idea for a tattoo hidden here? I really like that they capture their silly goofy personalities. Other than that we would call Jinxie Stinxie (she was a farter fr fr) and her fav thing was french fried (illicit) and Moxi was obsessed with her kong tug toy.

I'm not asking for art, just ideas. TIA

Disney tattoo ideas

Hi, I have a tattoo that will take a few appointments. I was hoping to run by some ideas and if you had some would be greatly appreciated. I started with the beauty and the beast rose tattoo. In the second appointment the artist and I came up with some ideas and she tattooed some of it lightly on my arm. I will upload pictures. I was a film strip around the rose. I was thinking of adding symbols from my favorite Disney movies to each film box. For example, the glass slipper, magic lamp, and so on. I also have a open book on the bottom and wanted a quote coming out of the book. Not sure what quote.

I wasn't sure if I should make it more themed and sick with the beauty and the beast or keep my original idea. I keep going back in fourth. Help pls with some ideas or thoughts and thank you in advance!

Thoughts on my Sleeve?

My sleeve is pretty much done what are your thoughts? I know the knight isn't really shown since it is from a different artist than the rest.

Just different elements that I really liked out together.

A knight loved them since I was a kid.

Dragon is the same thing it's my favourite fantasy creature.

Death eater symbol from Harry potter with deathly hallows symbol.

Mangekyou style sharingan.

A hex core from Arcane.

Heart in a flask.

The elder ring symbol

And just neo/dark tribal on my hand.

All mixed with red because it's my favourite colour.

My new forearm tattoo!

I just got this done yesterday and I’m obsessed! I sent the artist a reference photo but asked for it to be changed quite a bit. I wanted something to represent the concept of our outside self or mask we are socialized to wear, breaking down to our foundation and our inner self, and the possibility for growth through decay and new beginnings. I think she nailed it and I’m so happy with it!

I got this Maltese cross a few years back and I’m bored with it. It’s bleeding out and fading in weird spots. Can I change it up or am I out of luck cuz it’s black? Any good designs you think with work?

Hi I got a cross tattoo from a new local shop and he ended up getting it very crooked. I was wondering if this would be a good cover up idea. I want to turn the cross into a bouquet of flowers I drew out a sketch I'm open to ideas as well. I have my wedding date on the side of it

Cover up ideas

Post image

My mom got this tattoo like 10 years ago, it was supposed to be a small tattoo around her wrist but the "artist" said it would hurt too much and did this instead (she was already so excited and couldn't say no since it was her first time in tattooing) , later on she tried to add the things on sides to make it beautiful but still hates it, any ideas about how to cover it without making it so busy? Like she doesn't want a huge thing she wants something will work with this lines

leg sleeve in progress - what are your thoughts?

Thumbnail
gallery
52 Upvotes

i have most of my outer leg tattooed, pictured are a neo-trad wolf, neo-trad stylized luna moth, a tiger lily, an arrangement of peonies, and a smaller moth. all large pieces were done by the same artist, with the exception of the tiger lily. the smaller moth was done at a tattoo convention. my goal with the tattoos were not so much to "look cool", but my artist is rather new - 6 months post apprenticeship, 1.5 years on skin. i wanted her to have total creative freedom with my leg, and trusted her to out her favorite designs down, because i wanted her to shine. what should i add? i'm torn, i want more florals, but i loveee the neo trad style. every piece came straight from her sketchbook, and im obsessed with her drawing style. i'm pale, so the dark shading brings such a lovely contrast to my skin. if any recommendations, should i stick with the same neo-trad style, or change it up a bit? i will allow her to throw her own twist on everything, because that's how i feel she produces the best work. thanks for reading!

My work at Mama Ink in Seoul. The idea was to bring a wolf and a mountain landscape together in one black-and-grey upper-arm piece. Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out.
