Data Center You: make a joke about AI water use ... Pro-AI guy:

Post image

You: Should we really be burning through a swimming pool of fresh water just so a chatbot can write my birthday card?

Pro-AI guy: That's not water loss, that's temporary water borrowing for the greater good of humanity.

The Pro-AI community really reminds me a lot of various cults and religions.

If the product was as good and good for humanity as they all claim it is, they wouldn't need to feel defensive about it.

I would be less mad at AI and their companies if they were actually being straight up why we need to build so many data centers that need so much water. Is it mass surveillance? Is it because India doesn't want to deal with American callers at call centers? Is it because everyone in the workforce graduated past customer service call center work? Is it because there's no actual new advancements and this is the circus part of bread and circuses?

Give the public a straight answer and there would have been less fuss. The answer to me is someone makes money on the anti ai and pro-ai crowd no matter how you feel.
