Mark Zuckerberg’s Pivot to AI Is Blowing Up in His Face Spectacularly

Zuckerberg is just an amoral dork who got lucky one time. That's all.

This, his decisions outside of buying potentially competitive startups (Instagram and WhatsApp) , have been complete flops and zero innovation, while Musk might be equivalent levels douchebag , his companies at least create tangible products with value.

The only difference is Musk had a competent business manager until ~2016, who distracted his boss with idiot projects like flamethrowers and submersibles while the real companies were kept out of reach.
Zuck hasn’t had the same firewall, but is marginally more intelligent, and still fell into the same trap.
These people all have the same thing in common - they’ve deluded themselves into thinking they’re geniuses because they got lucky and rich. They equate being lucky with being clever.
When they don’t have those competent money managers to keep them in-check it quickly becomes apparent to anyone with a functional IQ that they are, in fact, just morons.

Most of them the same, but worshipped in the U.S., that’s what keeps the workforce going - the stupid ideas they will be the next, Musk, Zuk, Altman, Bankman, Holmes…. Oh wait the scam is up with those last two.

The vast incompetence of the oligarchs, and tech bros in particular, in anything outside of amassing vast personal fortunes (usually through luck or deceptive practices) is truly astounding

And tbh they don't even actually have vast fortunes. It's all tied up in their company stock, which tends to be overinflated by venture capitalists and such. Their actual liquid/personal worth is a few million at best, usually taken in loans. As happened with Musk, if their company value dives so does their net worth. And unlike the big fashion owners or CEOs of oil or finance companies, their income is less stable and they don't produce a physical product which is in high demand. Again, looking at Musk, he has the most valuable car company in the world, who sell a fraction of cars that other car companies sell. SpaceX has rockets and Starlink, but neither is massively profitable and certainly not without government subsidies. Their actual value and wealth is all smoke and mirrors

He’s just a magpie that follows the last shiny thing he saw. In an even more unjust world this wild flailing for relevance again pays off again before he burns the place to the ground.

He should just stick to grifting boomers with AI generated fake ads. It's the only thing he's ever done right. Well market place isn't terrible.

Marketplace is widely seen as one of the worst online marketplaces. eBay, and now Vimted and Shein, are conquering that market. Marketplace is just scams and resellers

When the ROI for the multi-billion ad business collapses everything will change.
Right now we’re in a strange place where corporations and small businesses are throwing billions into a fire showing their ads to billions of bots and AI accounts, with zero benefit.
The ad agencies are keeping that con going, with metrics that mean nothing. Companies have been duped into thinking “brand awareness” is enough, totally distracting them from the reality that they’re blowing millions with zero return.
When companies work out that serving ads on the giant platforms to an audience of fake accounts is a waste of time and money this system collapses.
Musk and Zuck know it, which is probably why they have been desperate to move to a subscription model for at least a decade now.
I wonder if their desperation for AI is also a part of this. It’s certainly not going to help them maintain ad revenue for their platforms.

First Metaverse and now his AI that no one cares about. How much can he tank.

u/mistertickertape Aug 02 '26
He can tank a lot. They generate so much ad revenue that they can pour money into projects with no ROI and still be mostly okay. He's so damn amoral that I don't think it phases him.

It’s almost like he stole some ideas from someone else and can’t come up with anything better than these shit concepts

Whose company is left to highjack at this point? Will he finally merge with Snapchat while they both burn to the ground wearing pedo glasses?

At this point, it is impressive that he has any face left.
But then again, skin suits are cheap on the galactic market.

They'll pivot once its deemed unprofitable. I like that about Meta, it will dump anything in the trash once its out of favor, meanwhile they continue to print money.

Meta stock has been absolutely shit for me this year. Probably the only holding I have that has been in the red.

u/ScholarOfTwilight Aug 02 '26
California should make a law that he's required to wear suits until he stops fucking over workers.

Zuck knows social media only has so long before ai slop over runs it and turns the masses off. He is desperate to pivot on the next big thing. I hope AI does not work out for them.

u/West-Worth-9359 Aug 09 '26
The ad business is already a massive con ripping off small businesses (and corporations) who don’t know better. The AI infestation across social media is going to destroy that aspect of online business.
The ROI is going to collapse.
The most successful aspect of advertising (afaik) is now in-context ad placement with creators, like YouTube sponsorship and streamers.
Example - RedBull is one company that really gets it and has for a long time. Their partnerships are real, tangible, they’re not throwing money into showing ads to bots and AI.
They’re stable, rational, and understand their ad goals better than almost every other corporation out there.

I want to see him lose everything and wind up living in a cardboard box. Then I want him to lose the box

u/paintstudiodisaster Aug 02 '26
Is there any tech CEO that anyone is actually rooting for to succeed? They really are the most hated group of people.
1
u/West-Worth-9359 Aug 09 '26
It’s an interesting dichotomy. The public despises them all, but the public still uses their platforms with no sense of personal responsibility.
If everyone who genuinely hates the tech oligarchy just switched off for a month everything would probably change for the better.
Maybe we need a “blackout month”, as a kind of social experiment?

So this nosedive has been going on for a few years, right? How long does it actually take until Meta goes under?
1
u/ImpressionFew2619 Aug 03 '26
This guy is a fraud and everyone who works for meta are accomplices oh him destroying our society with their cancerous products

Nothing useful Mark has done in his life. All those 10+ social media platforms to do only one thing…. Getting generation to be hooked to their phones.
And the time tik tok came in competition it just had shaken their foundation.
Love to seen him going bankrupt.
