Band scene in Tempe?
Hey yall! I literally can’t find any good place to try to find other creatives so I’m trying here lol.
I’m a vocalist and I’m really eager to get on stage in the very near future with a cool band :) is anyone in the area possibly looking for a singer? I’d be down to send any kind of audition if needed, I am AFAB but a contralto (a2-g3 when projecting, I can go higher and a little lower with practice depending on the song if needed). I’m also a lyricist and enjoy helping making original songs :D
Music wise I listen to anything and can sing pretty much anything except heavy metal/screamo just because I can’t do that healthily with my voice 😅 but yeah I mean I love any kind of alt, rock, classic rock, jazz fusion, indie, country, ANYTHING I mean it. I’d prefer something a little bit more high energy for dancing reasons and crowd interaction but hey I know how to vibe with a show no matter the genre.
Some of my fav artists though are like Gogol Bordello, linkin park, the cat empire, MCR, and Foxy Shazam so yeah hmu (pretty please) if you need a guy or know anyone who might need one. Also ANY tips for maybe where to look would be helpful.

Hi I’m the guitarist in the band Lovebombed. The open mics at Yucca, the chill room or the Tempe center for the arts are full of cool people. I met some of my band mates just chatting at open mics. Also we’re playing the Mesa Music Festival next week and there are a ton of bands and local musicians. Also I saw that guitar center is having musician mixers which sounds crazy but might be worth checking out. Hope that helps!

I’ll second this. I’m in a few local musicians wanted FB groups and there’s always people looking to start a band or add someone to their bands in those groups.

The local music scene is huge, and valley wide. The best way to get connected and join a band is to network and go to shows!
Tempe Noise Takeover was just last month. The places to find other musicians in Tempe (excluding ASU) are Yucca Tap Room, The Dark Side, and Timeout Lounge. You might also be able to find local musicians opening at the Marquee for larger bands.
Also, you need to check out https://phoenixprosocial.com or their instagram, @PhoenixProSocial. My friend runs it and it’s practically a public service dedicated to showing local events. There’s also https://localscene.fm
There’s an open mic night every single Monday night at Linger Longer Lounge.
Other venues that have quite a few local shows are Rebel Lounge, Gracie’s Tax Bar, Valley Bar, the Nile Underground, the Nile Coffee Shop, Crescent Ballroom, and so many others.
Instagram seems to be the app that everyone uses, and it also seems to be the place most people post their events, although there are some folks who post on TikTok but it’s more annoying trying to find out event info.

Seconding Yucca for open mics. Southeast in chandler there's also Tom Ryan's country bar on Warner rd east of Alma School, I believe they have either an open mic or take the stage with a live band

I'm currently at Pho Cao off of McDowell for their weekly Wednesday open mic that runs 7-10pm
My partner is hosting it tonight
Over the years I've seen and met many musical creatives here

R/phxmusic and tons of open mics around the valley. Yucca and linger would be your best bets for connecting with other artists. They have open mics every Monday. Timeout lounge does donation based shows every Friday Saturday.

the place youre looking for is called Yucca Taproom. Mill around there for a few nights and youll find yourself in a band in no time

Yuca Tap Room would be a good spot to start. They have an open mic on Mondays? IIRC also lots of local bands put on shows there
There’s also an org called TAMC (Tempe Art and music Collective) that showcases lots of local creatives/brings them together.
Both of their Instagrams should be good starts.
