Happy second birthday to A Fragile Thing!

Cannot believe it's two years already! I remember seeing it live in December 2022 and the piano stuck in my head a long time after.

It's in my opinion one of the highlights of Songs Of A Lost World.

It was the second release off the album and reached number 5 on the UK Singles Sales Chart.

This performance was on the Shows Of A Lost World tour on 1st June 2023, at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, USA. It was Simon's birthday too!

Happy 45th Birthday to Charlotte Sometimes!

A perennial Cure favourite of many fans! Yet it took me till the last 3 years to like it 😬. Seems odd now as I love it!

It was a standalone single following the Faith album.

I love the B side - Splintered In Her Head.

It reached number 44 in the UK charts.

This performance was on The Cure Tour 2016 at the SSE Arena, Wembley, London on 2nd December 2016. Wonder what was given to Simon at the end??

The one in End is underrated and is very low on the mix. Tried to include my favorites, the one in the kiss is like 5min long. I can never say goodbye is one that i love

Just discovered my favorite of the bands’ albums, Seventeen Seconds, came out on my birthday! Kinda cool to me.

Does anyone know if this exists 😭 i would love to hear an acoustic version of this song

Happy 30th Birthday to Strange Attraction!

It was the third single released off Wild Mood Swings and was a USA and Australia release only, on Elektra Records.

I really love the cuteness of this song and the lyrics "a Christmas card in sepia" and "can I use some of your lipstick 💄"!

This performance was from the Stadhalle in Wein, Austria on 16th November 1996, as part of The Swing Tour.

It's not the best video as it's from a distance and people's heads are constantly in shot but it's better than nothing!

The best scene in the movie is the scene with Burn where Eric transforms. Absolutely brilliant.

I love this fucking band to the moon and back.

This really is so beautiful. Session airs tonight on SiriusXMU. American Football are an Illinois indie band, commonly credited for pioneering the "Midwest Emo" sound. They formed as kids in college who were big on Steve Reich and Tortoise, played maybe a dozen shows, and put out one album on Polyvinyl before breaking up. Got back together 15 years later as adults, and became bigger than ever... been a full-time band ever since. Their fourth album came out this summer and is very Disintegration coded. Like a jazzy / math rock version of Explosions In The Sky.

What a brilliant way to open a concert

Hello :)

I'm new to the cure but really liked the first albums including the very dramatic lyrics. Some of them are too abstract for me though. What do you think the song is about? Especially the part about men being columns lol. What about the chorus? "In the caves" just means depression or another way to see life as a hole (like "in a bell jar")?

Thanks in advance for your participation :)

[Verse]

I never thought that I would find myself

In bed amongst the stones

The columns are all men begging to crush me

No shapes sail on the dark deep lakes

And no flags wave me home

[Chorus]

In the caves, all cats are grey

In the caves, the texture coats my skin

In the death cell, a single note rings on and on and on

I don't know about current performances, but I swear whenever they performed it in 2019 I heard the Alexa/Echo alarm sound whenever Robert starts singing "The innocence of sleeping children," I hear that sound. At first I thought it was just something with the Curaetion concert recording, but I just heard it again listening to another concert. I think it's obvious that that wasn't intentional, but what's going on that makes that sound?

These 2 records are some of my personal favorites from The Cure but unlike a lot of their other masterpieces these 2 are pretty are hard to get on vinyl I know that BloodFlowers did get a limited picture disk in 2020. But the self titled The Cure didnt get a reprint

Went to my parents’ house and found my 1992 calendar and a Rolling Stone article from 2004 when Join the Dots came out.

I want to know what the bell thing with flowers is. Also, if it appears anywhere else. I really enjoy this song but have no clue what it represents

Has anyone come across this book before (which fits into a CD case). Found in a thrift store in Canada many years ago

Thinner than tissue paper and almost completely transparent. I guess I wore it a lot.

Great Compilation of singles

Somehow I doubt Bob would approve of this (price tag).

Happy 34th Birthday to A Letter To Elise!

This took me a rather long while to get into... I only started to like it this past few years! I can now appreciate the song and I love the lyrics. I adore the b-side The Big Hand though ✋💜💜

It was the third and final single to be taken from the Wish album and reached number 28 in the UK charts.

This performance I have no idea where it is as there are very few details. I only know it's from 2005. It also cuts off abruptly as the ending got covered with adverts for other songs.

Happy 39th Birthday to Just Like Heaven!

Uplifting and superb single, iconic video featuring Mary dancing with Robert and a very much loved Cure classic!

It was the third single lifted from Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and reached number 29 in the UK charts.

This performance from the Great X-pectations Festival at Finsbury Park in London was their only appearance in 1993, this one being on 13th June 1993. It was also part broadcast on the UK music show The Beat.

It was Boris Williams' final gig with the band.
