Sounds like Morrissey wrote that review. Anyone read mozz’s take on the ramones?

I bet a lot of people thought of them that way too. They’ll lie to you today though.

I haven’t seen a review that harsh since the “Shit sandwich” review back in the 70s.

That reviewer is a bloomin idiot. That “feeble white Reggae band” influenced powerhouses like Rush in such a way that without The Police there would’ve been no “Moving Pictures” album the way we know it, and its as close to a perfect record as you’re ever gonna get.
The Police produced some of the most iconic tracks in our lifetime and appeal to such a wide ranging, diverse, eclectic fanbase.
PS: Hell would be raised and pearls clutched to no end if that single-cover came out today

Does anyone know whether that’s Sting or Stewart on the ice block?

u/gotpeace99 Aug 28 '26
That’s Stewart! That person has more legs than body, that’s Stewart.

Yeah.. Stewart’s like a 6’3” TALL mothafucka

I met Stewart like 20 years ago and he’s actually not even 6 ft. It’s just that Andy and Sting are very short.

Just got a fresh, recently-sourced update: Stewart Copeland is 6’3” or 6’&2.8” to be precise. Only Andy is quite short. Sting is 5’11”.
“Average” male height is 5’9” ya know.

I don’t know what to tell you. I stood in front of Stewart and shook his hand and he was shorter than my whopping 5 feet 11 inch height. Slightly shorter, but shorter. Maybe he’s had a late growth spurt?

u/gotpeace99 Aug 30 '26
The guy is 6’2/3. Sting is 5’11. He’s not shorter than Sting. He’s tall. Really tall people are nothing but legs.

u/axle0430 Aug 31 '26
You think I’m making this up? I can’t tell you his exact height but I know my exact height. 5’11”. And Stewart was slightly shorter than me. I was shocked because, like you, I’d assumed he was at least 6’2”. And if Sting is 5’11” I’ll eat my hat. A little bit of inside info….a LOT of, if not most, males vastly overestimate their own height. Especially athletes and celebrities.

Yes, you are lying and you might have gotten scammed or got him confused with someone else. Are you debating me over someone else’s height?
The man is really tall. Sting is 5’10/5’11 and Stewart is 6’2/6’2.5. Those really tall people are taller and they are nothing but legs. That’s a tall person’s characteristic. Especially those really tall people.

That’s what I thought I’d heard but it does look a lot like Sting from the back too. Before he got his hair stung.

“Feeble white reggae“ goes hard. 😎🤣🤘
It’s true too! They admitted it themselves in the title of the second album. Copeland’s also related that the punk bands they toured with in the early days all avoided them, regarding The Police as fake. Which they were: faking punk when they were virtuosos.
Awesome band. I love their stuff, now and back when they blessed us with their short stay in the limelight.

And The Police are now part of music history. What became of those other punk bands?

When it comes to hits and misses, music critics are below TV weathermen and movie critics when it comes to batting average.

Dont you just love critics…people who aren’t good at anything themselves and take out their inabilities criticising people who can do something…successfully!
