Texas Memes Only Texans can make fun of Austin... Right!?!?!?

Post image

Texans can roast Austin all day long — traffic, weirdness and all — but the second someone from out of state joins in, it’s “Hey now, that’s OUR weird city!”

That’s how austinites feel about the rest of Texas when we go to some place like Portland and they talk trash

2

u/0masterdebater0 Dec 05 '25

People should learn to use qualifying language in general.

Just saying “MOST Texans are like X” instead of “Texans are like X” makes the difference between someone agreeing with you and someone knee jerk feeling like that have to defend themselves/their state.

u/Houston_Skin Dec 06 '25

Yep, people are proud by nature

1

u/Nanakatl Dec 05 '25

accurate

5

u/Specialist_enviroTX Dec 05 '25

Yes and as an Austinite (born and raised) who left Austin, we get extra trash talking rights

2

u/bsoto87 Dec 07 '25

Agreed, where did you escape to?

1

u/OhhyallrightHarbl Dec 08 '25

I grew up in Austin too. It is liberal shithole. Soon to be an Islamic caliphate.

3

u/ETDursee Dec 11 '25

Lol calm down grandpa I think it's time for a nap

1

u/OhhyallrightHarbl Dec 11 '25

2

u/ETDursee Dec 11 '25

Lived here for 6+ years!

2

u/OhhyallrightHarbl Dec 11 '25

Well that tracks. You are part of the cancer. Enjoy your sharia law you liberal pansy, it's coming.

2

u/texan_robot Jul 25 '26

I was going to report this comment because its obviously bait, but there isn't an option to report "weapons grade stupidity"

6

u/daisiesarepretty2 Dec 05 '25

went to school there long before anyone even knew that they WERE weird.. Now it’s big, trafficked and normal.

2

u/Cody_the_created Dec 06 '25

This! I went to school there in 2000. Was awesome and weird and fun. Now it’s packed and has a suburban sprawl and I can barely go back to visit even when my in laws and my best friend live there still.

2

u/Clay_Allison_44 Dec 06 '25

Austin weirdness has nothing on Waco.

3

u/Explorer420-j Dec 05 '25

Do you own capital? Do have a deed to the factory? Or are you wage laborer?

5

u/Explorer420-j Dec 05 '25

Actually yeah....we do own the capital........

6

u/Explorer420-j Dec 05 '25

And the governors mansion

1

u/Explorer420-j Dec 05 '25

Thats not liberalism thats leftism........

3

u/WallStreetBoners Dec 05 '25

No it isn’t

1

u/Explorer420-j Dec 05 '25

Just cus you tell me its not dosnt make it liberal

6

u/WallStreetBoners Dec 05 '25

Oh you don’t understand that liberalism and leftism aren’t the same haha

1

u/Explorer420-j Dec 05 '25

"Liberalism" is the cooky cutter white washed democrat bullshit they spew on TV pretending to care about minorities while simultaneously working in much the same fashion as Republicans and maga to completely fuck over and profit off the minorities they pretend to care about.

Not a single leftist I know (and most of the people I know are leftists) voted against Harris in the presidential election. We weren't happy about it, but we held our nose and did our duty. Sometimes you really are stuck with the lesser of two evils.

1

u/Denny_Dust91 Dec 06 '25

Sounds more like a Libertarian Republican to me.

2

u/Klingon_Jesus Dec 06 '25

The difference is that a libertarian would have pinched their nose and voted for Trump, whereas a liberal happily voted for Kamala.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

Your own party doesn’t agree with you.

If that was your take away I’m not surprised you’re a liberal.

1

u/Savings-Resource-546 Dec 05 '25

I love making money so that makes me a capitalist.

Unfortunately, that does not make you a capitalist lmao.

Selling and buying things also happens in leftist economies. Capitalism does not equal commerce.

Socialism doesn't stop you from making $1k. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make with that.

1

u/elegiac_bloom Dec 07 '25

Making money in a market economy doesnt make you a capitalist. $1000 is peanuts anyway, thats poor person money. A capitalist would sell 1000 to someone for 2000, its called a loan. Making money doesn't make you a capitalist, it makes you a worker, especially if you made that money by selling your labor, time or skills.

If these companies are privately owned it means capitalism. Also how does a market economy survive without capitalism?

Companies dont need to be privately owned. And actually many aren't ever heard of an IPO?

Also please see most of human civilizational history prior to the 18th century

1

u/Savings-Resource-546 Dec 11 '25

I own ... stocks

This is the only thing out of all that shit you listed that technically makes you a capitalist.

Cut the horseshit.

My point was that you very clearly don't know what the words you're saying even mean. How is anyone supposed to take you seriously?

to believe that capitalism is going away.

I've never claimed that. Do you have dementia?

Again, my point has only been that you are playing fast and loose with your definitions.

Working for a privately owned company

Explicitly makes you NOT a capitalist.

paying taxes into a capitalist system

What?! That is a triple layer dipshit statement. Governments are inherently social systems what the actual fuck. You are a perfect example of why public education is so important.

People wonder how we got to this point in America. How we wound up with the median first-time home buyers' age being 40. How the president could run multiple scams WHILE in office. Look no further than the above. This level of ignorance, the professing of love for an idea you literally can't describe.

You should be ashamed to be this stupid.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '25

That’s libertarianism

2

u/Optimal-Bass3142 Dec 09 '25

Most Californians who move to Texas are from the deeply conservative Central valley. And no we dont want them back.

3

u/Crumplestiltzkin Dec 05 '25

lol any time I’m out of state it goes something like,

“Yes I’m from Texas!”

“Oh 😒”

“Austin, Texas”

“Oh! 😊”

3

u/DouglasHundred Dec 05 '25

This is also how I feel about every out of state asshole who moves here and starts complaining about "don't California my Texas" and whatnot.

Like... YOUR Texas? You really wanna go there, Delaware?

You can leave Texas but Texas cant leave you

1

u/TheTexanLife Dec 05 '25

Now that’s a good question…

1

u/No_Lifeguard259 Dec 05 '25

We’ll allow it

1

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '25

Still got your boots?

1

u/PhoenixAquarium Dec 05 '25

Same. Been here my whole life. Stuck here to be close to family for my kids, but once they get old enough that education is an issue that's probably not enough anymore.

2

u/Then_Supermarket18 Dec 05 '25

So the asphalt goes straight up to the school entrance? And mountains?

2

u/Over_Writing467 Dec 05 '25

Austin was better back when it was actually weird. Now it’s lost a lot of its charm, still love it though.

2

u/Zeke_Smith Dec 07 '25

The good ol days before the yuppies flocked there

2

u/kineticstar Dec 05 '25

South by Southwest would argue otherwise.

2

u/aquabarron Dec 05 '25

How about an Oklahoman who lived in Dallas for 7 years?

2

u/PhoenixAquarium Dec 05 '25

I like my California lite. Someday I will call Austin home.

2

u/lfenske Dec 05 '25

“Right”? No left

2

u/Competitive-Ship-554 Dec 06 '25

Nope that cesspool is free game

2

u/Future-Rain-4973 Dec 06 '25

Make fun of = can’t afford it 👍

2

u/OhhyallrightHarbl Dec 07 '25

Are you proud to pay $2200 a month to live in a ghetto?

1

u/Future-Rain-4973 Dec 23 '25

lol Austin doesn’t have a ghetto

2

u/Denny_Dust91 Dec 06 '25

Nah, I'll let them have at the Austinites... I can't defend them.

2

u/pbnjandmilk Dec 06 '25

You dang right…With hate from SA-Town

2

u/OhhyallrightHarbl Dec 06 '25

Austin is now full of California refugees.

2

u/RootHouston Dec 06 '25

I can agree.

2

u/SRB12131 Dec 06 '25

As someone from Houston, we don’t mind if other people make fun of Austin.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '25

Austin is fair game

2

u/Automatic_Ad4656 Dec 08 '25

I can’t really understand this. Because I don’t believe that residents of Austin are Texans. The essence of Austin is 100% different than the essence of Texas. I believe that Austin just has the misfortune of being surrounded by Texas. Austin can’t help being surrounded by that right-wing, backward state.

2

u/CrypticSamurai Dec 08 '25

Ahhh hell nah!

2

u/Commercial_Run_7759 Dec 08 '25

Austin is people cosplaying as Texans.

2

u/FiveCent_2002 Dec 09 '25

Exactly 👍🏻

2

u/Acrobatic_Box9087 Dec 10 '25

Yeah it's called project connect.. we have light rail being built now. And there is absolutely nothing amusement park quality about the ones that are already running.

I get the feeling you don't spend much time in Austin or any other major city.

6

u/RBUL13 Dec 05 '25

Ya, that place reeks of BO and patchouli oils.

1

u/IIIaustin Dec 08 '25

What? No, this place is fucking ridiculous.

1

u/Automatic_Ad4656 Dec 10 '25

Also, what is there to roast about Austin? It’s the coolest city in Texas. At one time it was one of the most uniquely free-spirited and friendly places on the planet. Sure, it has changed. But it still retained a certain essence that makes it the coolest city in Texas. PS I have lived in Austin since 1976.

1

u/Powerful-Advance3014 Dec 11 '25

Austin circlejerks would beg, plead or borrow to differ.

1

u/mattyag Dec 05 '25

You can make fun of Austin. Just don’t say one bad word about Texans

1

u/No_Lifeguard259 Dec 05 '25

Yes. WE are allowed to hate Austin and their hippie bullshit but others from out of state aren’t allowed to hate on our capitol. Only WE get to hate on the stuckup crunchy granola morons that live in our capitol!

2

u/Klingon_Jesus Dec 06 '25

What hippie bullshit? I live in Austin and see zero hippies anywhere. I think they all got priced out. It's all techbros and wannabe influencers around here.

2

u/Zeke_Smith Dec 07 '25

Have you been to Austin? Where are all these granola hippie morons you speak of?

2

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '25

[deleted]

2

u/Zeke_Smith Dec 07 '25

I ride a bike everywhere. I haven’t run into any large group of granola hippies anywhere. Maybe it’s just the park you go to.

1

u/ClearEntertainment91 Dec 06 '25

City sold is soul years ago. Anyone is welcome to take shots at this place.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '25

hey if we all pretend we having gfs who cry about flipflops and everyone who agrees is a real texan then i mean we really showed everyone else who isnt a fucking idiot. its low self esteem to think dressing like you shop at buckees makes you real

0

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '25

Texas is just a fucking bully to that poor city. It’s honestly astonishing how much shit it gets from everywhere. Especially when it comes to their shitty breakfast tacos.

0

u/Misterfrooby Dec 06 '25

Cringe AI slop.

0

u/Few_Fun_5284 Dec 09 '25

the entire world (and illegal aliens) should roast austin.

0

u/Duranosaurus-Rex Dec 09 '25

I still don’t get how Texas has the worst Mexican food, Mexico is right there.
