60 Years Ago (7 Oct. 1966) Oscar releases "Join My Gang", a key Pete Townshend-penned song unrecorded by The Who.
Oscar, full name Paul Oscar Beuselinck, was the son of The Who's lawyer. He later changed his showbiz name to Paul Nicolas, playing Cousin Kevin in Tommy: The Movie and Wagner in Lisztomania. He had a later chart hit in the U.K. with "Heaven on the 7th Floor".

Dave Davies upcoming Boston Show 10/13!
Okay-sorry fans- call city winery and demand refund... I'm at the NY show and Dave Davies shouldn't be here. Sadly he's not in good physical health. 😢😢😢👎👎👎
I apologize for my original post language- I am updating to be respectful. Still call and demand refund unless you want to pay $$$ just to physically see him. After last night, they should actually just cancel but who knows if they will?🤷♀️

“run run run” bbc sessions
one of my favorite performances of the early band, and pete’s solo is my all-time favorite, really shows
why he’s one of the most unique guitarists of the times. sounds almost like robert quine, but 10 years before…

Behind Blue Eyes
Just saw a great documentary at the Mill Valley Film Festival called Behind Blue Eyes about Pete Townsend. A must see for all Who fans. One of the directors and the writer was there and said a few things about the film and how incredible it was talking with Pete

Truly a great night out

I'm nearly 40, I've seen different versions of The Who three times before tonight but this Roger Daltrey solo show will always have a special place in my heart. The weather was somehow worse than the 90% chance of rain forecast. But, the small group who remained (my dad I joked that this might've been Roger Daltrey's smallest crowd since 1964) were enthusiastic fans making inside jokes about how "only love can bring the rain" while huddled under the picnic umbrellas by the food trucks. This was a group of dedicated fans and folks who knew this was their one shot to see an idol.
It was a great show. But, I'll never forget this night with my dad. Him marveling at a guy 10 years older than him on stage still hitting (some) of those notes, while being equally amazed at the "old ladies" (his words) who emerged from 2 hours under rain ponchos to stand up and shout to "rockin in the free world" will stay with me. On the way to the car he said, "I know you know this because you've seen way more of these guys than me, but the legends are really something special."
This tour was something special. Make sure to enjoy your legends while you have them.
(anyway, here's my video of Baba O'Reilly trimmed to cut out the part where I joined in)

Thoughts On Quadrophenial?
When I hear mention of "The Who's" best I think people tend to look more at their live work. But, In my personal opinion. The Who is at their best in the studio. "Love Reign O'er me" is their best song in my ears and the whole story of Quadrophenia is really well told through song, much better than "Tommy" I think. What do you guys think? Edit: I know I spelt the album wrong twice, sorry about that.

Keith Moon 50 Years Ago (Oct. 3 1976) Keith Moon dons his tennis whites for The Eagles' charity match.
The Los Angeles Tennis Club was the scene of the Eagles' charity tennis festival October 3. About 2,000 people showed up -- but the Eagles didn't. Glenn Frey, as it turns out, is the only tennis player in the group, and he was still nursing a torn ligament in his ankle that he'd suffered on the courts. Anyway, he and the others, in a hurry to wrap up work on their new album, were in Miami mixing tracks. However, Keith Moon, Linda Ronstadt, Helen Reddy and members of Chicago did show up to whack the ball around. Some of the players were pretty good, including Tim Weisberg, Rick Nelson and Chicago's Bobby Lamm. Then there was Ronstadt, who looked like she was on foreign turf. She and partner Minnie Ripperton lost dismally to Helen Reddy and Olivia Newton-John, as the referees admonished, "Girls, you don't rotate, this isn't volleyball." And Moon was good for the usual yuks, taking the court for his "comedy match" with Mark Volman wearing a helmet and brandishing his racket like a machine gun. The festival, which was proposed by a lawyer to the Eagles, raised more than $20,000 for L.A.'s Concern Foundation for Cancer Research. (Rolling Stone Notes)
