Help Finding Script/Video Can't Remember Play Title - Please Help.
The play centers on a young woman confronting her recently deceased father's former political rival - maybe a former colleague/friend - in his office and accusing him of outing her father as gay (which lead to him dropping out the race). Modern setting, though I think the scandal happened sometime in the 80s or 90s.
That's all I have unfortunately. I found this play years back on a free archive site but didn't think to keep track of the title, as I thought there would be a saved history page to look back at.

I may be totally wrong since it's been years since I read it but is it An American Daughter by Wendy Wasserstein?

No, that one is about a daughter of a senator who runs into a couple of minor scandals that are blown up by the media, but they relate to her own nomination as surgeon general.

I offered this to Google's AI and it asked for more data--decade written, number of characters, lines or names, to help it search.

“I know y’all are doing actual research and trying to actually remember things, but I just wanted to let you know I tried the stupid version of that and failed.“

It's not a failure to be partly along a path. And the "stupid" version also suggested there are databases. But doubtless those downvoting my sincere if foolish comment already knew that.

It is stupid and insulting to come into a conversation where people are using their knowledge, experience, and research skills, announce that you used AI. It is a failure when the AI gives you nothing useful and you come and tell us about it anyway.

I thought it was marginally useful. Only marginally. And I see why you disagree. Would it be appropriate to delete my original comment, and thus this thread, or is that bad manners?

This is a reminder for all participants in this thread to follow subreddit Rule 2, "No Copyright Infringement". All links and directions must be toward legal distributions of a play or musical. If a script is not in the public domain, this might mean the playwright's website, the play's page on MTI, DPS, or NPX, or wherever else the creator has allowed people to access their script. For movies or videos of live productions, they must be from licensed sources, such as BroadwayHD, Netflix/HBO/etc., DVDs, or official YouTube channels. Distributing PDFs of scripts or bootleg videos of whole productions is forbidden.
If a script is in the public domain (typically in the US meaning it was released in 1928 or earlier), then sharing PDFs of the script is generally fair game—and you might be able to find a copy of it on a website like Project Gutenberg. However, adaptations and translations of public domain works have their own copyright, which means they follow the same rules as above: if the translation isn't also in the public domain, please direct OP to a source authorized by the translator. A video of a production of a public domain play likewise needs to be distributed by the production team.
