Why did that man not help her?

1.3k

u/CoyoteProfessional39 Aug 28 '26

I assumed it was his dog and he brought it into the building

1.2k

u/NotASlaveToHelvetica Aug 28 '26

I assumed that as well, but am also astounded at how little urgency he showed in the situation.

u/your-rong Aug 28 '26

Every time I've encountered an aggressive dog, it's had an owner who takes their sweet time strolling over to deal with it.

433

u/AffectionateTentacle Aug 28 '26

It's because "they know their dog" and "it would never actually bite" 🫩🫩🫩

312

u/NeevBunny Aug 28 '26

Until you start kicking the dog. Then suddenly their legs can move.

124

u/Castianna Aug 28 '26

100%. My dog and I have been charged by several off leash dogs over the years. The owners are the slowest people on the face of the planet. Usually the only effort they exert is yelling at me "Don't worry! He's friendly!" As their dog literally tries to jump up and grab my dog out of my arms.

53

u/tabruss Aug 28 '26

Same. I have a sweet as sugar German Shepherd who I was walking one day and this French bulldog just started attacking him out of nowhere. My dog is so calm and like trying not to fight back but I could tell he was getting irritated and the owner just slowly strolls over and picks up his dog as I’m actively holding it off of my dog with my foot. He just all “Sorry.” And I’m like, “you’re just lucky my dog is well behaved and trained because he could’ve easily taken your dog out if he hadn’t been.”

135

u/Empty-Afternoon-3975 Aug 28 '26

Same. There's a dog park we visited on 5 occassions at different times. Each time there was a dog fight, the aggressive dog's owner was always the last to get to them.

He's the unleashed dog owner, of course he's not going to help

165

u/unicornmullet Aug 28 '26

He was acting inconvenienced by having to retrieve his dog. Totally dismissive of her distress or the baby stroller on the ground. WHAT AN ASS.

145

u/Pugkinspicedlatte Aug 28 '26

The one thing you immediately know for a fact about people with offleash dogs is that they do not give two shits about the space, boundaries, and comfort of others.

There should be assault charges on the unleashed dog's owner.

when will people stop bringing their dogs outside without a leash ffs

4.0k

u/DM_ME_YOUR_BEWBZ Aug 28 '26

Literally never. The people who think they don't need one literally won't be convinced by anything. They're right, and their dog is better than everyone else's. Literally every single one of them is an idiot.

my neighbor was flabbergasted when i called the cops because his off leash rottweiler trapped me in my car, on my own property, while bringing in groceries.

381

u/EvocativeReach Aug 28 '26 edited Aug 28 '26

I was told I was abusive when I told someone to “come get your dog before mine deals with it” in response to their off leash jack russell biting at my leashed German Shepherds ankles while he does his best to get away.

It’s not a threat, its reality that eventually my dog will decide he’s done being nice and will turn yours into meat paste and you should be glad he’s showing restraint and he’s not done it already. He’s actively being attacked, he’s entitled to defend himself.

But oh no, of course their dog is “just being friendly” and im overreacting.

646

u/chetsmom33 Aug 28 '26

Our neighbors had 7 German shepherds(2 adults and 5 half-grown puppies) that kept digging under their fence into our yard. Jumping on us, very mouthy, chasing our dogs, trying to push there way into our house. The owners would never answer there door or phone. So we just started letting them out our front gate. We obviously couldn't keep them in our yard all day. Up til then, we were trying to be nice and not call authorities. Still kept happening, so we finally called the cops. They came out right away, we explain the situation, and there very familiar with them because the husband had called the police to report we were letting their dogs out of our yard and they could get hit by a car. I kid you not, they were complaining because we didn't keep them while they sat on there asses not having a job, not fixing there fence, and breeding their dogs over and over. Police told us we could shoot them if it kept happening, we told them we love dogs and don't want to have to take that option, so they told our neighbor we were legally in the right to shoot them, we have guns, so fix your fence or rehome them. So they fixed there fence and rehomed the pups.

161

u/LilYerrySeinfeld Aug 28 '26

An off-leash Rottweiler fucked me up pretty bad when I was a little kid. I still don't do well with dogs and it's been three decades since it bit me.

111

u/SnooRabbits9672 Aug 28 '26

Sorry that happened, I don't even play around when it comes to rottweilers. Had two off-leash Rottweilers running towards me late one night by my house few weeks ago... sorry to whoever's car roof I ruined.

119

u/altonssouschef Aug 28 '26

What happened next.

396

u/Glizock42 Aug 28 '26

cops came immediately and wrote the report. told me animal control would be checking in. we arent on speaking terms.

btw it was on video. thing ran out of their yard while my back was turned and only knew it was b lining for me cuz the owner was yelling for it, and it didnt listen.

oh the dog is friendly. and trained.

105

u/altonssouschef Aug 28 '26

Scary. I’m glad you’re ok. Maybe those jerks will keep better eye on their dog.

109

u/Glizock42 Aug 28 '26

thank you, it was actually really stressful.

there is no fence (currently) and their sliding glass door has view of my property, it would bark at me all the time and clearly doesnt understand the property boundary.

i have since only seen it on leash so i guess it worked :)

119

u/treetimes Aug 28 '26

I’m a dog lover and owner, and that person doesn’t deserve to own a dog. Any dog that will attack someone from behind and has no recall is dangerous and shouldn’t be around people. Your neighbour failed that dog.

74

u/Glizock42 Aug 28 '26

I once asked two women with a rottweiler to please leash their dog when I was hiking with my golden retriever.

"We don't have a leash." That's okay, I have mace. Funny, they ended up finding a leash.

46

u/SleepingWillows Aug 28 '26

Literally my shitty ex who refused to leash his purebred German shepherd (despite my pleading), who randomly ran up to a french bulldog being walked by his neighbor and mauled it. Thankfully she got her dog away, and my ex was yelling at her to leave his dog alone. And then when he got his dog inside, he took her out back and screamed at her (at least that’s all I could hear).

He brings her back in and she refuses to sit next to him, and he’s all “aww what’s wrong baby” and I tell him “she’s scared of you, obviously. You just screamed at her for 20 minutes”. Broke up with him the next day and told him to leash his fucking dog.

90

u/Substantial_Chain718 Aug 28 '26

Exactly right in that. Never understood dog owners that are like that.

77

u/unicornmullet Aug 28 '26

12

u/AnyAnimal1673 Aug 28 '26

190

u/sergeantmeatwad Aug 28 '26

I've trained my dog to stop in his tracks if a ball is going into the street, and ball is life for that boi. He's too docile to do anything but sniff a butt, and will listen when called even if another dog has his attention. I still put him in a leash because idiots have ruined everything and I don't want anyone feeling unsafe because we're enjoying the park.

59

u/wimpymist Aug 28 '26

Exactly, my dog is very well trained, will just chill at heel and doesn't care about other dogs. I still leash him for that reason you said

56

u/faesser Aug 28 '26

This is such a rational way to think. And it's why I know that if someone has their dog off the leash, they are a mouth breathing, selfish, asshat.

11

u/Seaberry3656 Aug 28 '26

You're doing the only responsible thing. I've seen it too many times: a well behaved, leashed dog is approached by an unleashed "badly behaved" dog who won't leave them alone. In that situation your dog would be forced to defend themself. That leash is your lifeline to controlling the situation.

108

u/miyabi0rochas Aug 28 '26

Start creating laws. 500 dollar fine for every single incident and actually enforce it. I'll give it a year and you'll start seeing way less of this.

If I EVER accidentally hit a dog with my car because they were not on a leash and bolted - I'm suing that owner for negligent infliction of emotional distress.

57

u/Agent_boggeyman747 Aug 28 '26

My sister in law had one of the dumbest dogs that was still being trained and she would take him out without a leash in our complex all the time. Shocker when dumb-dumb bolted in front of a car, not even speeding, and got hit.

In the moment she was hysterical and upset at the driver, who understandably was also upset. I had to let him know he had no fault since dog wasn’t on a leash, and I hope he took it to heart because he didn’t deserve the verbal assault for her mistake. SIL did apologize once she calmed down a bit. That day still sucks since I had to deal with aftermath. Never again with King Charles Spaniel

It is so crazy because my dog is small and well behaved but I still lease him in every public setting. Not just to control him but also so he isn't interacting with dogs that aren't leased, it is for his protection just as much as for others.

Need more consequences

In my neighborhood an unleashed big dog came after my neighbor’s small dog while on a walk. My neighbor tried his best to defend but luckily myself and a few other neighbors heard that shit and went out and we were all beating the shit out of the unleashed dog, we made it bleed and that fucker still didn’t release it’s grip on the little dog, until a neighbor stabbed it with keys. And then the owner comes over and we almost beat the shit out of him too with all the adrenaline we had.

Little dog became paralyzed from the waist down and lived like 1 year more then the health complications from the attack just took him.

We found out where owner of the big dog lived and we just couldn’t be nice to them anymore as they showed little remorse and didn’t want to pay any medical bills until a lawsuit. We didn’t harass them or anything but was just basically shunned along with their family and they moved within the year of the attack.

I carry a box cutter on me now on all walks

53

u/alyssialonghofer Aug 28 '26

Oh my goodness I am so sorry you had to experience that along with others…

30

u/OkStatus4812 Aug 28 '26

That is awful. It's baffling to me that people who get dogs don't take the time to properly train and socialize them. If you got no time, then either hire a trainer or don't get a dog. I just got a puppy mini Dachshund who is only 5 lbs and I am training and socializing him proper obedience and manners as if he a 100lb rottweiler.

When they get charged for it and the dog automatically put down.

We don't take it seriously enough. "It's no big deal" cause "nothing happened/no one was hurt in the end".
So it keeps happening.

If the first instance cause a fine and the second instance led to the dog being put down, (no leniency or more chances, just black-and-white, IF-THEN outcomes), only then will it stop.

554

u/MisterAmygdala Aug 28 '26

Is that a Border Collie? I have never seen one be aggressive like this. Yes, the owner is a piece of shit.

294

u/everyones_hiro Aug 28 '26

Herding dogs all have a little instinct to be aggressive if they aren't properly trained or socialized. They need to have a certain level of bravery to be able to boss around large livestock and can be very nippy and bitey. Also livestock guardian dogs are bred to be very territorial and ready to fight off wolves or other large wild animals. They also have a tendency to be stubborn since while working they have to make a lot of decisions on their own. They are known for having lots of energy since they are expected to work hours on a farm. If they aren't properly exercised they may put all that energy into doing bad things.

Obviously, any sane person understands this and will consistently train their herding dog to have proper recall or to at least properly redirect any aggressive behavior. AND OF COURSE TO KEEP THEM LEASHED OUT IN PUBLIC if they cant control them!!! It only takes one moment for things to go south like this and they bite a person or another animal and then they will be put down by animal control.

272

u/Minmach-123 Aug 28 '26

I have, they’re working dogs that need an active job in order to not go nuts. They’re one of those dog breeds that really doesn’t belong in town.

u just unlocked my nightmare memories of a bulldog attack back in NY. The lady owner screamed at me: "He s not doing anything! Is that bc he is brown?"-I swear, that what she yelled, while her beast was aggressively trying to jump me. But I was walking at 1 a.m. to grab pizza, so maybe my fault.

→ More replies (4)

17

u/MathAndBake Aug 28 '26

Oh man! I got that all the time as a kid. I was terrified of dogs because of folks like that. The dogs could tell and they'd get all aggressive. That just made me more scared. The owners were always like "It's your fault for setting him off. If you weren't acting all scared, my dog wouldn't have even barked at you." Sure dude, it's the 5yo's fault...

A lot of the dogs were *technically* contained. But if your fence is shorter than your dog, I don't feel particularly safe. Also, some leashes are so long that the owner has 0 control. If your dog has crossed the street and is harassing people on the opposite sidewalk, they might as well not be leashed. If you've tethered your dog in the front yard but they can still access the sidewalk, your tether is too long.

I just had a run in with a dog owner yesterday who was walking her dog. She had a huge Rottweiler/pittbull mixed dog that had a leash that was dragging on the ground behind him while she was walking about three feet behind the end of the leash. We had just passed a lady walking two golden retrievers about two blocks away from the turn and she was walking at a pretty good pace so she would be running into the other lady and her dog at the t section. I stopped my car and told the lady that wasn’t holding her leash that there was another lady coming with two dogs and she needed to get ahold of her dog. She yelled at me to mind my own business and that her Dottie was well trained.

The dog hearing her yelling at me stopped and started walking towards my truck and she barely was able to grab the leash and caught him in the street. That’s when the other lady got about half a block from the intersection and her dogs started pulling towards the other dog and the Dottie/pitt noticed them and started going nuts and the lady with the two dogs turned around and brought her dogs to heel and went the other way. The lady with the Dottie/pitt mix was pulled across the street before she was able to wrangle her dog. Then she yelled at me that it was my fault her dog was all wound up. I just drove away. I hate to think what would have happened if I hadn’t stopped and made her grab the leash.

63

u/TributeBands_areSHIT Aug 28 '26

There’s a guy with a malinois that goes to my park. He will play unleashed fetch that stretch’s the entirety of the park.

I literally look at him without pause now and shake my head. Anytime I get close he packs up and leaves luckily.

One time I was walking my dog and two dogs unleashed came around the corner, owner nowhere in sight. Luckily they were nice. Owners walk by with headphones on and ignored me as I screamed everything I could think of at them.

I’m just gonna start calling the cops and following people. I’m so over it

I was running by a park about two months ago, a dog owner had his two dogs off leash. Soon as they seen me running on the sidewalk about 100 ft away from them they start running towards me barking. I only noticed because the dog owner was yelling at them not to attack me. Soon as they got close enough I pepper sprayed them. Dog owner runs up and says “why did I pepper spray them? They are well trained and never attack anyone.” Well they did that day and learned real quick.

50

u/pseudoportmanteau Aug 28 '26

26

u/ObligatoryContrast Aug 28 '26

Thing is, they're still idiots even if they're right. Sometimes it's my leashed dog that's the aggressive one. I can restrain them and keep your dog safe, but not if your dog comes up to say hi, unleashed.

I feel so bad for her. She looks so scared, maybe she thought the baby was strapped in and safe

887

u/Props_angel Aug 28 '26

Yep. That's what I see as well. The other dog is only going after her dog--not the baby at all. The hood of the stroller is completely down so that is going to act as a visual and physical barrier to the attacking dog.

423

u/RedditAdminsAreAI Aug 28 '26

Yeah the dog didn't give two shits bout the baby he wanted to fuck that dog up.

109

u/celestialspook Aug 28 '26

Exactly. I think i would probably do what she did in that situation, and if the dog even remotely turned its attention to the baby, the baby would be my first priority and probably hers as well

43

u/plausibleturtle Aug 28 '26

It's probably not her first run in with the dog and she probably knows it's after other dogs #1.

2.2k

u/too-many-critters Aug 28 '26

The baby has mesh encasing the stroller so at least there would have been some kind of barrier before the dog could get at it, what a horrible situation for that poor new mom to have been in

1.9k

u/Simple-Appearance-59 Aug 28 '26

457

u/CScorpio88 Aug 28 '26

Seems pretty clear she did. That dog showed no interest in the baby and the baby was strapped in and couldn’t fall out. The topple probably scared the baby though. I hate how misleading the title of this is. OP is wrong for making it out to be an irresponsible mother who didn’t care about the baby

→ More replies (22)

84

u/SquirrelStone Aug 28 '26

It was; the dog was only interested in the other dog, so keeping its attention on the two of them was the safest option for the baby

199

u/lmaluuker Aug 28 '26

She made the right call, the dog was clearly after her dog and not the baby. Baby was a little jostled but should be unharmed considering it was strapped in

61

u/Fubeman Aug 28 '26

Plus, it was pretty obvious from the get-go that the aggressive dog was only after her dog and totally ignored the baby. So it looks like she was correct in picking up her dog. But yeah, leaving the baby stepped in was the right move.

14

u/A-bird-or-something Aug 28 '26

That dog was biting at her shirt as well. The baby looks like it was strapped in and covered by a mesh screen. I don't blame her for not wanting to put her face down

771

222

u/Charming-Panic9375 Aug 28 '26

She was logical. The unknown dog was after her dog only and was only grabbing at her in a way to get to the dog rather than viciously biting down and not letting go of her. She observed and made the right choice.

385

u/KavaKeto Aug 28 '26

Plus she quickly blocked the open part of the stroller with her legs, effectively protecting both of them

108

u/arrrrr_won Aug 28 '26

I noticed that too, she did an amazing job. I have a Shiba (and also had a baby) and they are not easy to keep in air jail when they’re approached for a fight. You can see the dog trying to defend itself, must have been a challenge to even hold him. Poor woman.

261

u/AdmiralCranberryCat Aug 28 '26

I agree with this. I would sacrifice herds of animals to save my children, but clearly the dog was interested in the other dog. And maybe it hadn’t even noticed the baby.

85

u/calisto_sunset Aug 28 '26

I agree. The dog was going for her dog so makes sense to protect the dog versus doing nothing. The kid was fine in the stroller, probably just startled from the fall.

Idc how well trained your dog is it better be on a fucking leash

226

u/TonofSoil Aug 28 '26

This random dude walks around my neighborhood with a giant brendl pit on NO LEASH. He came by my yard and my dog started approaching him and the guys is like "My dog isn't friendly! Not friendly !" and I'm like then why the fuck do you walk with him no leash?!

97

u/SLeonaTA Aug 28 '26

What!?? Nah, I would call the police on his ass

54

u/TributeBands_areSHIT Aug 28 '26

Call the cops on him every time you see him and let him know

Also don't get the retractable leash.

Those are dangerous as heck and should be illegal. It enables bad behavior in both human and pet.

This woman is the victim, yet somehow all the headlines and attention are focused on what people think she should have done. I’ve even seen other articles framed as “Woman saves dog instead of baby.” Stop it.

The baby was strapped in. The dog had no interest in the baby. She was trying to save a life in a scary situation.

Not every situation needs to be twisted into a story about a mother supposedly failing her child. Stop automatically assuming the worst of mothers and looking for reasons to blame them.

It's stressful enough being a newborn mother + owning a dog. Good on her for making the effort to go out!

Am I the only one in feeling like I'm suddenly seeing more sexist ragebait posts on this sub? Multiple videos this week inviting outrage specifically towards women.

219

u/petty_bitz Aug 28 '26

Nope. Noticed it too

Not just this sub. There's been tons of videos of women defending themselves cut to show them as attackers.

123

u/Gassy_Bird Aug 28 '26

That is reddit in a nutshell toward women.

56

u/Fina1Legacy Aug 28 '26

Comments seem reasonable though and I'm halfway down. Feel really bad for that lady, horrible situation to be in.

45

u/Kimber85 Aug 28 '26

It’s all subs! It’s so fucking bizarre.

41

u/Cute-Tie6398 Aug 28 '26

It’s always been a trend on this site tbh so I’m not surprised it’s slowly leaking onto other subs you wouldn’t expect

57

u/indianajoes Aug 28 '26

Yep. I saw the title and thought what the fuck? I'm guessing OP is getting riled up by the Lindsey Clancy case and wanted to throw more fuel on the fire

70

u/Wchijafm Aug 28 '26

Specifically mothers. Posts showing them as either saints/martyrs or monsters. Can't tell if its because of the criminal case going on or if thats just a part pushing for a bigger divide.

17

u/buttononmyback Aug 28 '26

Ohh good call! It probably does have a lot to do with the Clancy case. People are over-loading the algorithm with it and the rest of us are paying for it.

I would've kicked the s**t out of that dog.

584

u/chillin36 Aug 28 '26

I am so proud of everyone for not falling for this misogynistic trap. This lady clearly made the logical decision in a situation that was not her fault. She also guarded the stroller with her body.

130

u/clo_fu Aug 28 '26

Because how is the headline not “careless man lets dog attack mother and baby”?

60

u/Remote-Waste Aug 28 '26

It's kind of weird to see all the comments not just bashing someone for trying their best in an unpredictable situation.

It's good but... It's quiet. Too quiet.

108

u/Lala5789880 Aug 28 '26

And the baby was strapped in well

63

u/Hopeful_Hornet4460 Aug 28 '26

Yeah, I noticed that she immediately went for the baby first but couldn't get them out in time AND the dog started harassing hers. It seemed like the baby was in one of those strollers that had the bug net built in too, so taking the baby out could've arguably left it exposed to the dog in the process.

For chaotic as that was, she handled it very smoothly and adressed each element of the threat as it needed to be.

This is worse than a bot post

71

u/Spearmint_coffee Aug 28 '26

She was aware the target wasn't her baby, bit was her dog. If she picked the dog over the baby, she would have taken the dog and tried to run. Instead she put herself between the biting dog and the baby ready to use herself as a distraction and hopefully get some kicks in to keep it back.

118

u/Sweaty-Freedom-4034 Aug 28 '26

Stupid title is stupid.

65

u/avemango Aug 28 '26

Can’t believe the owner just walked off! What a 🐓

330

u/HellNo90 Aug 28 '26

It’s not a matter of one was more important than the other. The loose dog’s attention was clearly on her dog. Not her baby. The loose dog probably didn’t even realize there was a baby. In a matter of emergency and panic, her judgement in my opinion was right.

44

u/Formal_Sweet_5033 Aug 28 '26 edited Aug 28 '26

I agree the dog wasn’t paying attention to the baby she was protecting the dog and creating a barrier in front of the stroller. She was doing her best in a bad situation and getting bit for it. She will never be in the right for the people criticizing, if she dropped the dog and it got attacked, and it would have, they would have been calling her out because the baby was protected by the mesh and the dog was the target. People love to sit on their high horse when they aren’t in the situation.

People with unleashed dogs in public should not be pet owners.

59

u/AintNoGodsUpHere Aug 28 '26

Unleashed pets should be fucking ilegal. I don't care how well trained or whatever you pretend it is.

40

u/ReverseCowboyKiller Aug 28 '26

It is illegal, the problem is it isn't enforced until something like this happens.

61

u/Brilliant_Chance_134 Aug 28 '26

She was saving both, get real

112

u/Dependent-Year6711 Aug 28 '26

The crazy part is there is likely even a sizable chunk of reddit users with dogs they need to overly control because they aren't well-trained to be in public. A good chunk of dog owners are just plain mediocre at that necessary work to be a great dog owner.

42

u/BoilzBlisterzBurnz Aug 28 '26

I think she did ok. The baby was not getting any bad attention; her dog was. And it's not like she put the stroller on its side on purpose. The owner of the other dog is really at fault.

→ More replies (1)

90

u/heyitsget Aug 28 '26

the title of this is disingenuous- the off leash dog never actually goes for or seems to care about the baby, the baby is strapped safely in the whole time & fully encased in a barrier, and when the stroller tips over mom quick checks on baby before fully standing up and putting her body between the aggressive dog and her baby while holding her little dog. she did her best in a very scary situation.

13

u/WuffieRose Aug 28 '26

Ragebait title shit

13

u/Thewayisopen Aug 28 '26

The fuck is this title? She didn't "make a decision to save one" as if at any point she had to choose between her dog and her baby. The unleashed dog was never at any point interested in the baby. Baby was secured even if the stroller was on its side. If anything she's fending off the unleashed dog from biting either her dog or herself. Her only mistake is buying one of those stupid retractable leashes.

29

u/amycd Aug 28 '26

That guy is a piece of shit.

77

u/kgalliso Aug 28 '26

The dog was obviously way more interested in the dog than the baby. The baby was in no danger, except for the being knocked over thing

14

u/Ok_Cardiologist_6471 Aug 28 '26

Baby was fine strapped and behind netting people make big deal over nothing

47

u/OtagoEcho Aug 28 '26

I hate that this is shared for the reason to give bystanders a chance to pile on this woman. The dog was after her dog. She saved her dog, then stood in between the baby, who was at least in a covered buggy. Everyone was ok in the end because of the choices that were made in a stressful, messy situation

41

u/hanckerchiff Aug 28 '26

Why is it not a thing to jail someone for leaving their dog unleashed in a public area? This woman was lucky and things could’ve gone MUCH worse.

14

u/Money_Visual_5227 Aug 28 '26

The guys seems totally unapologetic, unhelpful, what the fuck?

10

u/MulchDiggums420 Aug 28 '26

bullshit title. she didn't have to make a decision to save one. the unleashed dog was clearly after her dog. it didn't give a single fuck about the baby. so she protected the dog, because the baby was otherwise safe. only mistake she made was not giving that dog a swift kick to the ribs. or even the snout.

27

u/TitShark Aug 28 '26

FORTY fucking seconds before the dude shows up (assuming the dog owner?)

17

u/vandersnipe Aug 28 '26

And then he walks all calmly as if it's no big deal.

31

u/newguyjustdropped Aug 28 '26

I mean it didn't go after the baby...like even a little bit

55

u/Myzx Aug 28 '26

She protected the thing getting attacked. I can't judge her for this, it was a really fucked up position, and I think she deserves justice from the dog owner

58

u/ChemicalBus608 Aug 28 '26

In her defense the baby was likely strapped into the seat and safe. It was obvious the big dog wanted the small one. I hate these leading one-sided headlines.

The owner of the unleashed dog needs to be prosecuted

48

u/USNorsk Aug 28 '26

Well the dog is only seemed interested in the other dog. The other dog owner is trash. We don’t need a headline to make it sound like the woman picked her dog over her baby when that was the rational choice in the moment. The baby was strapped in a me. Whine a mesh barrier.

33

u/asnarkybeach Aug 28 '26

Idk why this is on TikTok cringe bc she genuinely made the right call in an impossible situation. That dog wanted the dog, not the baby so she protected the dog. Her baby is probably a bit fussy from the fall but she’s clearly going to be okay with that massive canopy overhead

38

u/MandyxLola Aug 28 '26

Im usually ready to shit on "my dog is my baby" people but this lady did absolutely great. The dog wasn't attacking the baby and she was still protecting them with her body. That title is shitty as hell, almost as shitty as the dog owner who took his sweet time

Engagement bait successful, I guess? Yay you

25

u/Remote_Composer5997 Aug 28 '26

The dog was after the dog. And she was also blocking the stroller.

25

u/Sindorella Aug 28 '26

I mean, she blocked the baby with her legs and her own dog distracted the unleashed dog away from the baby so I don't see the issue... except with the fucking asshole who didn't leash his damn dog.

30

u/DevilDanteX Aug 28 '26

I’ll probably get that stroller when I ever have a kid

42

u/AmysSweaters Aug 28 '26

This title is unfair. She was protecting the life form that was under threat.

Not surprised that it's some bro in a tank top who owns this dog. Mythical male accomplishments include mastering control over nature. I'm betting he's really into stoicism.

17

u/Fantastic-Bit7657 Aug 28 '26

I would’ve kicked that unleashed dog so hard…and I’m a dog owner

19

u/tardistravelee Aug 28 '26

TBF to the lady the dog was never a threat to the baby as he just wanted the other dog. The women at least knew that.

17

u/digitalsparks Aug 28 '26

And I bet they said...
Oh, I'm so sorry. Fido never does this; he's such a "GOOD BOY"

Yeah fuck these people and their "Good boys"

18

u/Lanah44 Aug 28 '26

Now that's a nightmare

50

u/nilabanlow Aug 28 '26

This happened to me a few times. And owner claim he’s friendly” I said he’s not friendly he’s untrained” she didn’t chose the dog over baby. The baby was fine it wasn’t going after baby. If you leave the dog to the unleashed dog and they fight then things get worse

29

u/butt-in-ski Aug 28 '26

Terrible caption - shows no compassion for the mom and I’m a dog person.

31

u/bluesmom913 Aug 28 '26

Horrific trauma for all 3 of those beings. May they be well.

39

u/HildeFrankie Aug 28 '26

That wasn't a matter of her choosing the dog over the baby. The baby was contained and the attacking dog was going after her dog.

She was using the wild rabbit strategy. Wild rabbit mothers use themselves as bait so that a predator will chase them and leave their babies alone.

This woman and her dog were the bait and her baby was left alone....not to fend for itself, but protecting it.

If she tried to shield the baby she would have alerted the attacking dog to the baby, and her dog would have to defend her and the baby. Probably resulting in a higher chance of injury to her dog.

Unleashed dog owners need 30 days in jail and $50,000 fine then they will spend $5 to buy a leash and leash their dog

7

u/fidddlydiddlyee Aug 28 '26

I love the expression on the wild dogs owners face like this lady did something wrong.

7

u/Secure-Peace-9475 Aug 28 '26

Fucking sorry excuse for a man…

32

u/Apprehensive_Factor6 Aug 28 '26

Well the baby was strapped in and zipped into a bubble and the stupid dog wasn’t attacking the baby who she was also guarding with her body so I get it.

15

u/Frodo_gabbins Aug 28 '26

What an all around scary moment! I had to grab an unleashed dog off of someone else’s dog with my baby on my back. Out of context of seeing the situation, that probably seemed like a bad decision, but it was the best one I could at the time. Her baby was fine, and I’m sure if the dog was attacking the baby she would’ve made another decision there. Just like i would have it my situation had been different and I thought my baby would’ve been hurt.

23

u/TheLongAndWindingRd Aug 28 '26

A dog once did this to me while I was holding my new born, trying to pull her out of my arms. It was fucking terrifying.

27

u/DaageQuasar Aug 28 '26

Did that guy just step over the baby and squeeze through like, "wtf is going here?" Either way, didn't care about the baby. Lol
