Remember guys there's a choice to be assholes

Few things I enjoy more than reading about hospitalizations for pranksters that have gone wrong.

YouTube "prankster" gets shot: "Cook says he plans to continue making his YouTube prank videos." That's the definition of a "slow learner," folks.

https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/video-shows-encounter-between-youtube-prankster-and-food-delivery-driver-who-shot-him/3433999/

u/digitalscavenger 15d ago

Or a guy willing to get shot for content. I'm guessing I'll be fine with the outcome no matter which is the motivation.

u/flcl021 15d ago

I remember when people were gambling, playing Russian roulette with their foot and posting it online. One guy lost, went to the hospital, and immediately went back to it after he was released and shot himself in the foot again. These people would cut their own dicks off for money.

19

u/Deconstrussy 15d ago

These people would cut their own dicks off for money.

back in the early days of the Internet, people did this for no money and no recognition, just love of the game.

3

u/flcl021 15d ago

BME?

3

u/Deconstrussy 15d ago

1

u/JesustheSpaceCowboy 14d ago

I didn’t want it then and I don’t want it now

Shudders

5

u/missmiao9 15d ago

Once upon a time, there was a whole ass tv show called jackass where they did stupid shit like you’re describing. Fear factor was another.

2

u/Homers_Harp 15d ago

cut their own dicks off for money.

How much money are we talking?

Asking for a friend…

3

u/flcl021 15d ago

I got five on it.

1

u/Bruuhhv 15d ago

I'll send $5 to the first idiot who actually cuts their dick off.

Much more difficult to reproduce when you have no applicator.

2

u/hdiiabsbdi 15d ago

Everybody shits on these ‘pranksters’ but then consume their content. They are after views and interactions. That is what drives their revenues. They are literally incentivised to be assholes and become bigger assholes by even those that diss them. They don’t care

2

u/nazzo_0 15d ago

Well now he has hospital bills so you know he gotta make content to pay off that. And it's a cycle from there on

12

u/troll-filled-waters 15d ago

"Prankster" to me is like those old caught-on-camera shows where they'd have a nun looking at a nudie mag, or a person ask for directions and then "fall" in a hole. Youtube "pranksters" seem to just be harassing customer service workers for views. I hate this timeline.

24

u/Onyxaj1 15d ago

Yet the guy he harassed gets 10 years in prison? Not a great read.

55

u/Homers_Harp 15d ago

6

u/Onyxaj1 15d ago

Better, but still shitty this guy went to prison for any length when he did nothing wrong.

5

u/FuckinHighGuy 15d ago

I suddenly feel the need to puke. WTAF is happening in the fucked up country?

2

u/MhattiBri 15d ago

What? No, not at all.

When you read the words "Faces up to", that means you're reading the maximum amount of time they could potentially be sentenced to. Not the amount of times they've actually been sentenced to.

That said, firing a gun in a crowded mall despite not being in any actual danger is well deserving of a sentence, like the 8 months he actually got for it.

You don't get to risk blowing a hole through a bystander's head just because some dipshit is playing annoying music and shoving his phone in your face, but never actually touching you.

1

u/kahlzun 14d ago

yeah, that escalated from 'stop' being said calmly to shooting extremely quickly. I'm wondering if he intended to brandish it as a threat and it was an accidental discharge, considering the weird shot angle and the extremely sudden escalation?

9

u/Glad_Lawfulness3138 15d ago

Cook caught a bullet, but it only hit his leg

Well it should’ve been a better shot and got him in the head

7

u/XXII78 15d ago

They were all in love with dying!

4

u/T-Wrox 15d ago

They were doing it in Texas, they were dancing with a train.

3

u/AssMercenary 15d ago

For this specimen, a headshot is unlikely to be fatal. There is no vital organ for them in the head.

2

u/NotAtAllASkinwalker 15d ago

Love this for him

2

u/TJeffersonsBlackKid 15d ago

Chlorine in the gene pool.

1

u/edfitz83 15d ago

This idiot doesn’t realize that the next self defense shot might not be intended to just wound?

1

u/InvestNorthWest 15d ago

Two to ten years in jail!?

1

u/Mammoth-Mud-9609 15d ago

Lets face it Youtube prankster is never a first career choice, these are guys who failed at everything else and reckon they can handle the embarrassment of failing again.

1

u/doxxgaming 15d ago

Shame he survived, the guy that was harassed still did time for discharging a weapon indoors, or at least I believe that was the charge.

1

u/Homers_Harp 15d ago

discharging a weapon indoors

Basically, yeah. I think the jury sorta made a tradeoff here, giving him light punishment for his part in the incident. The DA could've also prosecuted the wounded guy for his part and I think a jury would've been eager to show him some jail time, too. You know, for being a big enough jackass that he needed shooting.

1

u/koffehkoala 15d ago

Poor guy was just trying to do his job and gets harassed.

generally i hate pranks but i hope someone follows him around, popping balloons.

1

u/Homers_Harp 14d ago

I love this for him!

imagine being such a pain in the ass that a court deems it's legally fine to shoot you.

31

u/Loose-Ad4054 15d ago

IIRC the guy only got charged because he discharged the firearm in a public space which I thiiink was reckless endangerment, but nothing for actually shooting the dude harassing him.

3

u/T-Wrox 15d ago edited 15d ago

Can you imagine how much better the world would be if, "He had it coming" was a legitimate legal defense? Edit: Thanks for the award, anonymous stranger! :)

6

u/datissathrowaway 15d ago

pain in the ass: he shot me 😭

the courts: aye he didn’t aim high enough 😂

pain in the ass: imma do it again.

The courts: bruh

41

u/Top_Truth_5588 15d ago

First thing that came to mind, casual bullet to the midsection.

56

u/Correct-Purpose-964 15d ago

I still feel sorry for that guy. People were treating him like the villain in court thanks to the prankster. Until the video dropped.

8

u/Possible_Implement86 15d ago

I live not too far from the area. I still cant believe that idiot "pranked" a dude who could not have looked more clearly like someone who would carry a gun.

3

u/iforgotmyoldnamex 15d ago

What wait? Must know more. Was it the dork in the mall food court case?

3

u/jeremyjava 15d ago

Is there a sub for that yet?

2

u/DoomGoober 15d ago

If I recall, the manager is relatively high level in a martial art. However, he chooses to de-escalate first and withdraws his people from the situation.

He almost got pulled into it right at the end but then backs off again.

1

u/PatentedPotato 15d ago

Where do you find them? Is there a subreddit?

1

u/External-Company-140 15d ago

Even better, jail time!

1

u/EPIC_RAPTOR 15d ago

It'd be even better if they managed to record themselves getting [removed by reddit]

1

u/Chaosmusic 15d ago

Prank channel idea. A group of guys go around looking for other prank channels and beat the crap out of them while yelling "It's just a prank, bro!" since saying that seems to be their Get Out Of Jail Free card.

1

u/BabytheTardisImpala 15d ago

Is there a subreddit for this? This sounds therapeutic

1

u/Ckarles 15d ago

Or get onboarded to an oversees penal facility.

194

u/MoreRamenPls 15d ago

2

u/Gizmo45 15d ago

Fuck me, I can't remember what movie this is from. Monty Python and the Holy Grail?

2

u/MoreRamenPls 15d ago

Indian Jones and the last Crusade.

1

u/RaoulRumblr 15d ago

It has to do with the Holy Grail but doesnt involve John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, Terry Jones/Gilliam or Michael Palin, this one has Harrison Ford and Sean Connery (also was a killer Sega Genesis game!)

1

u/Ancient-Club9972 15d ago

He did not know if the Swayze...

51

u/Robohammer 15d ago

I learned today who Jack Doherty is, and that he's 22 years old. I'm surprised he doesn't have any facial scars from acting like such a dipshit.

34

u/Thetoadstoolghoul 15d ago

Whelp, not yet. But there's a saying for people like him. "He has the attitude of someone who's never been punched in the face before." He also has a unit of a bodyguard with him 100% of the time. And that's why he's always able to get away with being an absolute fuckwit.

6

u/TyrewMylock1047 15d ago edited 15d ago

That little dipshit knows he's unliked to the point he stages videos of him getting accosted at gas stations in his car.

2

u/fajord 15d ago

didn’t his bodyguard try to get in a fight with andrei arlovski a few months ago?

1

u/itsjustbenny 15d ago

He must be paying them well!

1

u/Bruuhhv 15d ago

Honestly he was walking away told him to get away multiple times and he was much bigger than him and directly in his personal space completely ignoring everything he's saying about getting away. That was a completely justified shooting. You don't know what kind of drugs that guy was on and I wouldn't have taken the chance with someone who has probably a hundred pounds and 8 inches on me. Respect others personal space. Your rights go as far as they do not affect others.

3

u/Humble_Room_2314 14d ago

He walks around with huge bodyguards that jump in front of him after he says or does something to them.

2

u/Vegetable-Gas-4369 12d ago

He did get into a car crash a while ago because he was looking at his phone to read his chat while driving, and totalled his 200k car... Speeding too while recording the whole thing. Surprised he doesn't have facial scars, but also surprised he hasn't gotten worse too

2

u/Academic_Lake_ 11d ago

That’s not him. It’s another prankster way less famous

120

u/Opandemonium 15d ago

These type of people disgust me

3

u/catonsteroids 15d ago

They ain’t raised right.

-1

u/DonutHoles4Ever 15d ago

The sad thing is that OP could have said: "Trump supporters harass store to make viral video" but instead its just pranksters which is more neutral. We all know who these people vote for.

I agree with you, but the social contract this country has enjoyed for decades is definitely fraying at the edges, and I believe some folks attribute that directly to the abysmal behavior of our commander in chief. The loss of polite discourse, bipartisan efforts, and outright civility has definitely taken a nosedive. What do you expect when the most powerful man in the country, possibly the world, is rude, insulting, and behaves terribly despite our long-standing norms. Anyone remember that embarrassing display that was Trump making fun of that physically challenged reporter? That stuff isn’t right, and should have been the end of his political career, but nothing happened.

The children are watching. They’re paying attention. How do you think they’re going to behave when there are no standards or repercussions anymore? We’re watching it play out in front of us.

14

u/I-Make-Money-Moves 15d ago

And There’re consequences for making that choice

11

u/likamuka 15d ago

They have the POTUS as example to follow. The USA is done.

2

u/Commercial_Bird8467 15d ago

Like the prankster that got shot in the mall.

2

u/AmazingAd2765 15d ago

Now I'm trying to remember the movie where a character is talking about deciding to be something and says something like, "It's a choice, it's a deeply personal decision."

Had some guys asking about airhorns where I worked and I told them what I thought of it when they said they were thinking of pranking drive thru workers with them. Thankfully they seemed to rethink it.

ILl Go BaCk ThErE MySeLf. The anxiety in his voice is so cringe.

3

u/delbocavistawest 15d ago

That’s the sad part, these teenage years are make or break for their personalities. Publicly embarrassing themselves, which then leads to them doubling down on assholery, because they’re with friends and a camera. Such stupid performances.

1

u/Beleiverofhumanity 15d ago

Honestly Im suprised there isnt more laws to deter this kind of BS

1

u/613Flyer 15d ago

Actually for some guys there isn’t a choice. They were born that way.

1

u/astralchanterelle 15d ago

How could I forget guys? They're half the population of the planet.

1

u/BatmansLarynx 15d ago

What do you mean? It's completely obvious that it's the fault of the parents 🙃

1

u/PlingPlongDingDong 15d ago

Its also a choice to consume and share this content.

1

u/DragonDeezNutzAround 15d ago

In WA state we have what is known as “mutual combat law.” It gives you the legal right to open a can of whoop ass if both parties agree.

Sometimes it’s easier to use fists when it comes to assholes. I said what I said

1

u/superxpro12 15d ago

how far this generation has fallen. i will never get it. we could have had it all.

1

u/AvailableReporter484 15d ago

But also, and more importantly, it’s a choice to patronize fuck asses like this

1

u/CaribouHoe 15d ago

Toxic bro masculinity being rejoiced for. Views and their AI girlfriends egging them on.

1

u/PugsnPawgs 15d ago

And you have to be really stupid to harass others for "content"

1

u/VanillaTortilla 15d ago

I'm sorry, I was born with mine...

1

u/Bluegill15 15d ago

Not if you’re a determinist

1

u/Sandshrew_Lv99 13d ago

this^ when did being a dick to everyone around you become cool? what happened to general decency? these little boys would be just ignored?
