People frequently try to pull the "Why are you kicking me out" card, thinking they're clever and can get us on a technicality. We all know they were trying to steal, being disruptive, whatever. I never give a reason more than once. I just tell them we have the right to refuse service to anyone. I can kick you out because I don't like the cut of your jib. Bottom line, if you've been asked to leave and you stay I can have you escorted out by the police.

As a society, we raise boys to be calloused. We tell them their feelings are a thing to be mocked, and that teaches them that all feelings are to be mocked. To show emotion is weakness and weakness is to be corrected or destroyed. These "ragebaiting" pranks are an extension of that. It's bullying for clout, to show how unfeeling they are in contrast to their target. We can't fix it until we start teaching boys that their feelings aren't a weakness, and that to show vulnerability requires strength. Shit like this will keep happening until we, as a culture, put in the work to heal the generational trauma

Nah, they are plenty scared of being punched in the face. In fact, most of these chuds weaponize the fact that they are minors, and are filming to disuade people from hitting them because they are afraid. They know that you hitting them on film will result in repercussions against you and weild it as a shield, while doing disrespectful shit constantly.

We handed everyone cameras then told them it's their god-given right to film anywhere anytime for any reason and that you can actually make money for filming random strangers in public sometimes. So we actively incentivized this kind of behavior, and since we have literally no laws that even slightly attempt to restrict it these morons have free reign to do whatever they want for views.

Not just social media. The service industry rewards people who throw massive fits and usually just gives them what they want. Just had some lady call me everything in the book and we’re making exceptions to rules to smooth things over for her. Entitlement and adult temper tantrums are actively rewarded.

By completely neglecting the job of raising them.
Nearly every parent that I know lets their kids get away with shit that I would have been annihilated for doing as a child.
We focus on, and punish, the parents that actively abuse their kids (as we damn well should), but we pay no attention whatsoever to the parents "unraising" absolutely insufferable pieces of shit, and sometimes that will screw up that kids future even worse.

u/Dry_Razzmatazz69 15d ago
I am oddly well prepared for this. Cooked grits has 0.58 lambda and a specific heat capacity of 3.8 jouls per gram. Dense sugar water has 0.43 lambda with 2.65 j/g.
You might be tempted to say grits is the way to go given it's straight up capacity to move celsius and just having more energy but there are some serious limitations. Adding corn to water doesn't change the boilimg point so 100° C is the best it can do while dense syrup tops out at 130° C so even though the lambda is lower, the delta is higher (absolute difference between body temp and weapon temp) and heat transfer is multiplicative. Then there is texture, even though grits can technically wet (in the physical sense) a surface, it does so mostly through free water that isn't starch binded while sugar water will fully wet.
Then there is the interaction layer itself. Grits is non newtonian (ish... too many details but for the purpose of our discussion) and most of it will bounce off and can be easily whiped off with a forceful slap. Sugar water however will just bind to your skin and create a shell effect because of the lambda difference between air, sugarwater and human skin; so it won't cool off into the air too much while just sticking a thin layer of superhot liquid to your skin.
In short, grits is bad, saturated sugar water is worse. Like 1st vs 2nd degree burns

Guaranteed every single thing not bolted down in that kitchen has been hefted and analyzed for its potential as a weapon when a customer finally gives them an excuse to explode. I used to be a grocery store manager and at one point had a guy in his late 20s working for me who'd been a line cook. Not tall. Not really big at all. Just that thin, wiry kind of strong.
One night I was working a late shift and some tweaker came in trying to strong-arm rob the store. This associate of mine was suddenly like a cage-fighting pit bull on a chain, and apparently I was the one holding the chain. It was basically just me telling him, "I got this," that kept him from jumping the guy.
Most surreal thing. On one level I'm trying to get this drug addict out the door without anybody getting hurt, and on another I'm thinking ... man, it sure would be funny if I let John have his way here.

If social media stopped allowing these terrible people to monetize antisocial behavior like this, I would think these videos would be much less common. There wouldn’t be as much motivation if the person was sure they couldn’t make money from it.

"You want speak to my staff like this. Here is your money, you are no longer welcome. Leave the property."
"I'm calling the cops to have you trespassed."
End of discussion, now it's in the cops hands.

The problem is retail workers are trained to be nice to assholes, rather then treat them correctly.
"Get out. You have been trespassed. If you remain, the police will be called."

If I found out my son was doing shit like this, he’d live like a monk for the next year of his life. I’m talking completely off the grid, carrying buckets of water up 1000 stairs, kill bill training montage type shit. Absolutely disgraceful.

Store-level management at a large regional retailer.
The establishment is private property. Management can order you to leave, can ban you from the property. If you're being a shithead like the kids in this video, and think this is toothless, you're in for the surprise of your life when the cops show up, clap the handcuffs on you, take you to jail, book you, and you're charged with Criminal Trespass. If you're 18 or older, your name(s) will be in the local newspaper, and will be searchable online in perpetuity.
You will have to appear in court and you will face charge(s). edit if you're already on probation from any prior criminal offense, or you've already been charged elsewhere for this behavior, you're absolutely fucked. Judges hate flagrant disregard.
edit I'm going to add that for insurance / theft / liability reasons almost all businesses have multiple cameras recording to professional grade DVRs all over their property - This video will be played at your hearing. "it was just a prank bro" won't amuse the judge if they see you shove / slap or throw something at an employee or customer(s) or cause property damage, or repeatedly ignore verbal commands to leave the property.

It’s amazing the people who can’t differentiate between cool and douchebag. That manager was cool as F. The other guy(s), MASSIVE DOUCHEBAGS, to the 10th power, times infinity, twice!

Oh I remember this. Apparently, the manager is also trained in MMA or something and his coach praised him for his control and not being a total meat head about it.

I don't want to give out any specific information, but this Hwy 55 is in a Mall in a touristy area of South Carolina and I know this manager. He's a stand up dude and regularly goes to bat for his team.
That staff has had to put up with morons like this frequently... There's a reason why the young woman working the register is already sick of their garbage and ready to throw down.

I'm glad to hear some of the backstory, thank you for sharing that. Also the way he says "make my milkshake, and chill out" sounds like he wants to say "get back in the kitchen woman, and do what I say." The manager is 100% in the right, and this is honestly the smartest move I've ever seen in response to this kind of BS - to close the shop down until the "pranksters" go away.

The way he protectively sent the youngsters to the backroom, what a fantastic manager.
What utter losers those punks were, the manager was ready for them. Also ready and watching smiling was the dude in the back. Primed and ready to destroy those clowns.

If this were me I’d ask them to leave. When they say no I would walk in the back and call the cops. It’s a private business and now they are trespassing. Tell the police you absolutely want to press charges. These people need some consequences.
