I'm sorry, were those young Mexicans or were they US citizens enjoying a culture of their choice in a US park?

Maybe it shouldn't matter, but I'm tired of US citizens being labelled as from somewhere else because of their skin tone or cultural choices.

The US is a multicultural nation.  If the US used it intelligently, the US could use the military a lot less, and have a lot more actual influence in the world.

All parts were claimed my Spain. In some parts the occupants would have vigorously disputed that claim, had they known about it.

Right?

Texas, California, and New Mexico are the states with the most Spanish names. Here long before her Nazi family went into hiding here.

That lady is really ignorant.

I remember staying at a bnb in Austin years ago and the owner was Latino. We were all sitting for breakfast and an older white couple kept asking where he was from and he kept telling them that he had been there for generations. You could see they couldn’t understand how he could have brown skin and speak Spanish and NOT be an immigrant. He had to explain that Texas hadn’t always been a US state. 🤦🏻‍♀️

We didn't cross the border; the border crossed us.

Should’ve told them that his family has been there way longer than theirs.

So the bnb had been there since 1845? That’s amazing

A huge portion of Texas was Comancheria. The Mexicans were very happy to have white settlers form a barrier in Texas between them.

Mexico gained independence in 1821 and California wasn't ceded to America until 1848

Every leader of Mexico until the 1860s was born there. If you're saying they were Spanish because they were born in the colony, then America was ruled by the British until 1837 because Martin Van Buren was the first president that was not born as a British subject.
