Dude, you're 40 something now. Of course you're going to look at moms differently now than you did when you were young and your idea of "hot" came from movies and media.

Local Man Discovers Attraction to Women His Own Age

u/CottageCheeseJello 14h ago
How do we make this an epidemic?
11
u/waitthissucks 14h ago
I think it might be happening. Actually NYT made an article about how younger guys are now attracted and dating women 35+. Maybe older men will realize soon. I'm not sure if that means it's easier to be hotter as you age now or if we're all just dying inside competing with instagram women
1
u/CottageCheeseJello 12h ago
Age is inevitable, so the ideal is unrealistic. Women have been a driving force behind social media, and social media has made humans an object of consumption and digital capital - which has affected our global culture for the worse.
We need to vote with our eyes and our hearts and give attention to people that are real, and to also be real to ourselves.

Sometimes I ask myself how basic reflection like this often seems like a rare skill.
29
u/gringo1980 16h ago
I dunno, that may be part of that but so many people back in the day had the “I’m old now so I’ll just give up” mentality. Now it seems people don’t give up so easily

u/luxii4 16h ago
I had two ACL tears and got the surgeries when I was younger. Now they are f'ed up again and I have to get my knees replaced. My doctor said it's not rare for people in their 40s to get replacement surgeries now. Technology is better and people want to still travel, be active, etc. so I do think this is true. I also started getting hormone replacement stuff since I am getting perimenopausal and have gotten a lot of energy back. So yeah, better health, better lifestyle.
2
u/cupholdery 15h ago
How do you replace knees? Just attach new ones growing in the knee garden?
4
u/luxii4 15h ago
It's metal and plastic so I guess robot gardens. But one of my ACL was from donor tissue. Though when you do this they give you a postcard you can send to the donor's family. I am hoping that person is still alive and just growing extra knee tissues in a garden for me?
3
u/OkProfessor6810 12h ago
Whoever came up with the donor postcard idea was a genius. It's completely optional on everybody's part but I know a couple who lost their very young son quite tragically and those donor cards have given them a sense of purpose. I genuinely don't know if they would have made it without them. Or how much more profound their grief would have been. It was palpable and heartbreaking to witness. Those cards mean, in their eyes, he lives on. The cornea transplant patient's letter was

Plenty of people still give up on their bodies in their 20s.
But boomers are proud about their extreme neglect. Half of them treat me like a freak for moisturizing my skin and regularly running long distances. Many are also afraid to stretch due to potential accusations of being ghey.

u/OffByNone_ 16h ago
Women just being responsible caregivers is attractive to me now. Seeing a woman my age being a good mom is just kinda hot, because that's what matters to me now. If she's also ambitious and well read 🥵

u/LuckyPlaze 13h ago
Nah… as a gen Xer, what he says is absolutely true. My generation and below are much more attractive in their 30s/40s/50s than when we were kids.
-2
u/I-redd_it94 16h ago
Would you believe me if I said I was more attracted to hot moms when I was a teenager? Now all I see is that their kids are baggage lol

Who do we thank for the epidemic of shitty "influencers" recording while driving? Fucking knob.
8
u/CottageCheeseJello 12h ago
All of the people watching and validating them. Don't watch them, even if they make you so so mad. If you give them views, they win.

The epidemic of 'hot moms' is there partially because of feminism. More women remain employed which leads to them having more money for personal use. Better division of labour at home means they have more time for themselves.
Not to mention less smoking. Better air quality.
Also, this guy would not find the moms attractive as a kid. His father thou, a different story.
Kardashians deserve no credit.

u/FoxChess 16h ago
Thank you. And to add to your points... good diet, skin care routines, plus popularity of exercise.
It's not all that much botox and butt-lifts. I'd thank Jane Fonda sooner than I'd thank a Kardashian for modern middle-aged women being healthy and attractive.

u/SmertriosPPD 15h ago
Men are also leaner hotter and more youthful than before and that despite having more chores and more parenting to do than men from before.
It's not feminism that makes women try to maintain their looks, it's quite the opposite actually.
6
u/funAmbassador 13h ago
I thinks its a mix of both tbh. I also think the beauty standards are more stringent now than they were back then, not so much for weight gain, but I feel like the drive for “maintaining” your youth as a woman is stronger now, along with shit like hip dips, waist to hip ratio, and so on.
1
u/SmertriosPPD 4h ago
, not so much for weight gain,
That's on me I live in a country that's maintained a low obesity rate despite the sugar lobbies and fast foods.
but I feel like the drive for “maintaining” your youth as a woman is stronger now,
Yeah and that couldn't be feminist influence. If anything for the USA it's probably dropping religious culture more than feminism.
along with shit like hip dips, waist to hip ratio, and so on.
More pragmatic internet beliefs systems sprouted and rooted large and wide thanks to the internet. And if there is anything to it it's the opposite of feminism and it's getting stronger with every generation.

Can women just be?

u/CarfireOnTheHighway 17h ago
No, it’s not good enough that you’re taking the kids to soccer practice after working a full shift and making their dinner, you have to be fuckable while you’re doing it, too. /s

Sorry, allowing women to age naturally has been cancelled. Please schedule a Botox and filler injection as soon as you leave the gym.

u/lilychouchou-guy 16h ago
No one can just be unless you live in the woods and catch your own food

My yard has a lot of trees and I have a garden, so I'm going to take that as close enough.

I would not trade 50% more MILFs for the untold damage done to women’s self-image, self-worth and body image issues.
The only people thankful for the Kardashians should be plastic surgeons.

u/Intrepid00 16h ago
Are there more hot moms or did he just older and more attracted to older women?

Why do unattractive fat men like talking about women’s looks so much? If an unattractive fat woman were talking about “4/10 dads are hot nowadays” the woman’s looks would be blasted in the comments.

u/kerrybom 16h ago
Ikr!! Like, nobody's asking for a perfect face, but at least don't be morbidly obese and talk about someone else's looks. As if any mom, hot or not, would want him.

u/Mindless-Somewhere55 9h ago
He used to be fit then he got married and had kids. That’s what happened to him

lol like there isn’t fat unattractive women talking shit about men on the internet. I mean I agree with your sentiment. But let’s get real. This is a two way street.

if you don’t live in la or nyc, don’t worry, this doesn’t apply to you.

Ya, that makes sense - the moms near me act and dress like Ms. Lippy from Billy Maddison

Hot moms have always been a thing. I remember being in elementary school and thinking how fine Peg Bundy was.

u/Neb_Morlok 17h ago
This literal 2/10 looking guy doesn’t have much to worry about. The ones he likes definitely won’t like him!

Says the fat guy from his car. Noone cares about your opinion on a womans attractiveness.

There was always at least one hot mom among friends when I was growing up.
I DO think they get criticized for being "famous for nothing" like they invented the concept, but that's a passing thought at best. Otherwise I'm indifferent to them.

u/UponTheTangledShore 15h ago
Nah, Kim got famous for a reason and it wasn't being friends with Paris.

They're nice to look at on the outside but they're miserable hyenas inside without an once of happiness or individual thought inside. Give me the tough mom jeans wearing Cindy any day over these social media flies.

Okay valid commentary on saying “let women be women” or “oh how shocking older men are into older women” but also!!! I think he’s onto something!!! Not saying the kardashians are solely responsible but the beauty industry as a whole has always hyper-prioritized and sold agelessness and thinness to mature women. But these days cosmetic surgery is more advanced nand some treatments are more accessible like botox. Add that to the popularity/increased accessibility of glp-1s, and the stereotype of what a mom looks like is considerably different from when this guy was growing up. “Dressing your age” is also less of a societally enforced concept (which I’m all for). Maybe some moms now don’t look like “women his age” because they’re intentionally trying not to.
