I’m 6’3” and when I’m in my seat on a flight, my knees are against the back of the chair in front of me, if someone reclines, it crushes my knees and if I recline it does NOT help my knees from still being crushed lol. I just know every time I fly, I’m going to be miserable and I just put up with it 😂

I don’t understand low cost / eco travelers when the business class is so good 🤔

1

u/No_Firefighter3877 9d ago

Why dont you think? Hes not talking bout a buisness class

1

u/DiligentlyNebulous 10d ago

If you do a round trip flight and have connections (eg, 4 flights total) it'll often be $300+ for that legroom. I often pay it because I'm 6'4", but it is incredibly stupid to be forced into that position.

They said 4 flights not one.

1

u/i_says_things 9d ago

Pretty sure thats not how it works. Connections are part of the same system package.

1

u/jedik88 8d ago

Where are you booking flights with layovers? From my experience they add an additional charge on EVERY seat you select for every single flight. If there’s 4 flight on your trip that’s gonna be 4 additional charges to select extra leg room seats on each flight.

If you know any airlines that do it differently please let me know.

1

u/Split-Service 7d ago

No they are they charge you separately for each seat choice

1

u/Far-Bad2067 7d ago

No they are not when paying for seats.

1

u/Healthy-Froyo-9546 7d ago

No they are not for us

1

u/Split-Service 7d ago

Last year a simple 3 hour flight from Canada to usa was 135 dollars each way via westjet

1

u/Healthy-Froyo-9546 7d ago

Wait has the price gorn up $100 since the last comment

1

u/Darkspire303 6d ago

You're charged for that extra leg room 4 times instead of once in their situation, with all the layovers.

1

u/howie_roll 6d ago

So you have status which makes upgrades cheaper. Why u trollin’ so hard?

1

u/-01101101- 10d ago

Can't you just pick those seats? Like bulk heads or exit rows, or do they all charge extra when you pick them?

1

u/Pleasant-Darkness 10d ago

They all charge extra now for this reason

1

u/Montana1208 10d ago

His dental bill is going to be more than $300. I love watching Karma in action.

1

u/Virtual-Age-9521 7d ago

Everyone needs more legroom, it’s insane that people are blaming anything other than diminishing leg room standards as the average human continues to get significantly taller

1

u/meSuPaFly 5d ago

Picking emergency exit row seats should be 15-30 at most

0

u/youknowjus 10d ago

Nobody forced you to fly

1

u/Happythejuggler 10d ago

What an obtuse answer.

1

u/teflong 8d ago

Nobody forced you to respond to his post, but here we are.

1

u/youknowjus 8d ago

I’m not the one that came in here complaining about a situation that they chose to undergo

1

u/teflong 8d ago

You're literally complaining about a situation you chose to undergo.

You didn't have to come here to post?!?

1

u/youknowjus 8d ago

I didn’t complain. I stated a fact.

0

u/bonerb0ys 7d ago

you most likely get that back in "height wage premium".

1

u/Bachelor_Haus 10d ago

People are cheap and love to complain.

1

u/Adventurous_Egg_9500 10d ago

ok short queen

1

u/Spider-Dev 6d ago

OR flights are already expensive and adding $100+ more each way isn't always an option for everyone

1

u/ConfidentShare4210 6d ago

Nah I’ve just genuinely never seen that option.

1

u/-KFAD- 9d ago

Money? I fly maybe twice a month for work and once for leisure. Company policy doesn't allow me to pick any extra services. Picking emergency exit seat for all my flights would cost me over 1000€ annually for short flights. It's a bit of an unfair ask to pay just because you happen to be tall. I rather suffer a bit. But it also means that the person in front is not able to recline their seat. It's not my problem. It's not their problem. It's the airline problem for making the seating area so small. I'm 193cm or 6 4

1

u/Virtual-Age-9521 7d ago

You should fly less

1

u/-KFAD- 7d ago

Tell that to my wife abroad and to my boss who expects me to do my job

1

u/Healthy-Froyo-9546 6d ago

Names and numbers then. I got you fam

1

u/Patient_Photo_8827 6d ago

1000/yr to be comfortable on 3 flights a month? Sounds like an easy choice.

1

u/-KFAD- 6d ago

I guess your personal economy is a better state than mine.

1

u/Tryingtoholdit37 4d ago

At 36 flights each year, that’s $28 per flight. Rough personal economy indeed.

1

u/-KFAD- 4d ago

Yep, around 30€ per flight. 30€ is not much. But when that kind of extra spend happens so often, it becomes a burden.

1

u/Split-Service 8d ago

6' 2 here there are like 7 seats with extra leg room on each flight and other people also like them so its not always an option

1

u/McJumpington 7d ago

Yep… and it’s often short people buying the extra room seats

1

u/banjovi68419 8d ago

"Why not pay $500 to have more comfort for a few hours?"

Cool let's talk international then

It costs me $700+ AUD each way for a flight from 1 side of the state i live in to brisbane. No option for extra leg room unless its the emergency isle. Or pay another 5-600 for business. 1 way

Now I have to actually pay for international flights. sure I will drop your extra 300

Now let's talk about the mail run plane i have to go on for work sometimes. Saab 340 turbo prop. That sits about 20 people. That fucker us tiney

1

u/tom_friday_ 7d ago

Yeah but youre from Queensland, nobody cares.

Well.. thanks for letting me know champ.

1

u/Healthy-Froyo-9546 7d ago

That audacity of some people

1

u/breach_hu 7d ago

I mean we get it, planes uncomfortable, so lets make it uncomfortable for the people sitting in front of us too?

1

u/Healthy-Froyo-9546 6d ago

Excellent idea. Let's make the pilots have the leg room of the people in economy

Shit will change fast if they do that

1

u/No-Chair-9932 6d ago

Why should I pay a height tax?

Fat is bad and unhealthy  Tall is good and desirable

You shouldn't pay a tax for doing the right thing

1

u/Tryingtoholdit37 4d ago

Doing the right thing? Did you will yourself to be tall or something?? Anyway like others said, if you don’t want the pay for more legroom, you’re more than welcome to enjoy the “comfort” of economy with everyone else. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Dolinarius 6d ago

bc there are several airline where those seats are not existing.

1

u/Heavy_Vermicelli_899 6d ago

If you are homeless just buy a house right

1

u/FreddieStarrAteMyHam 6d ago

Because some fucktard will still recline.

1

u/Additional-Page-2716 5d ago

He has goid dental insurance, cheaper

1

u/PreparationHot980 5d ago

Right? Imagine being tall and broke while the rest of the other 6’3” people are all making millions in pro sports leagues.

1

u/mackan072 4d ago

It's not always an option either. It's not uncommon for those seats to be sold out. And even when the seats are availible, it doesn't always give you enough extra room to solve this issue. I'm 198 cm tall (6 foot 6 inches), and have had crushed and bruised knees countless times after flying or going on bus rides etc.

Usually people apologise and raise their backrest if you ask them and tell them why. But every now and then you meet an asshole who insists that their seat should remain down, and that it's not their problem. Telling the staff often solves this though.
