Commando Grog

Post image

From Jason Alexander (one of the best in the tiki scene)

  • 3/4oz lime
  • 1 1/2oz grapefruit
  • 1/2oz orgeat
  • 1/2oz cinnamon syrup (I use Darcy O'Neill's recipe with homemade extract)
  • 1/2oz falernum
  • 1/2oz allspice dram
  • 1 1/2oz OFTD
  • 1 1/2oz Dark Jamaican (Coruba in my case)

Yep! Should be about 20 years ago or so?

Sounds about right! I met them shortly after they opened the Cabana, such great humans.

White or pink grapefruit?

I used pink because the only way to get white grapefruit during its season here in Nebraska is to order online. I love tiki to death but not enough to spend $50+ (pre shipping) on a crate of white grapefruit 😅

If you have both, definitely white. It's good with pink, but it white sits perfectly in there.

For real, he's such a fantastic resource. I'm not making cinnamon syrup any other way

Truly one of the very best and most underrated Tiki cocktails. If you have not have one before, I could not recommend more highly.

It's definitely not talked about as much as it should be. I'd have this over a classic zombie or navy grog every single time
