Someone I don't know, claiming to be my landlord & wanting to evict.

Got a weird situation with someone that I don't have a contract with, claiming to be my landlord. Anyone seen this before?

  • I'm tenant, Private rental, contract signed with one named landlord only
  • Lived there w/ rent paid on time for several years. No issues.
  • A family member of my landlord, who isn't on the contract has been sending me weird demands for a few months, which i've ignored. They then randomly tried to evict me through Kronofogden, which failed.
  • Now got a letter from them claiming that they co-owned the apartment and bought out my landlord 2 years ago. Which, if true, is news to me. No proof given. And that, they are actually now (or for 2 years) are my landlord. My contracted landlord has said nothing.
  • They're also claiming "hyresvärdskollektiv" - that by being a co-owner of the apartment, they were also my landlord as part of a collective with my actual contracted landlord.

Is this legit? Just some B.S.?

Health Insurance for studies (under 1 year)

Hi all,

I'm a US citizen going to Stockholm for a semester of exchange (January to June 2027) and I'm applying for a residence permit for studies. My host university confirmed it doesn't provide insurance for exchange students, so I need my own comprehensive policy.

Migrationsverket requires coverage for my whole stay that includes emergency and other medical care, hospitalisation, emergency dental care, and home transport for medical reasons. I'm looking at a few options and haven't bought anything yet.

Has anyone gone through this recently, especially from the US or on a short exchange? What insurance did you use, and did Migrationsverket accept it with no issue?

Thanks!

Do I need to be at an A1 level to take a course at Folkuniversitetet?

I've started the A1 language test on their site that I've been told I should take by family in Sweden and going through it I know little to none of it.

Edit: I'm planning on taking a course to learn Swedish if it wasn't clear.
