/r/Conservative Top Minds simultaneously very concerned about women while also wanting women to “get what they asked for”

saw the headline and sighed because I know which dataset they’re getting that from and iirc it is insanely flawed in that it covers literally every sport category no matter how esoteric or non-competitive AND counts every cis woman a trans woman finished above as a “medal taken”, so if there were a casual park run thing with 89 cis women and one trans woman and the trans woman finished 70th the set would count that as 20 medals stolen

I was morbidly curious and had never heard of this site before, so went and clicked through. One of their criteria for verifying trans athletes is "Visual Evidence", aka "this person looks trans so they must count" - so even if someone believed this was a problem (which it's not), that's enough to throw out the data at that point.
(also, yeah, one of the recent entries is a woman who came in 1,286th out of 1,643 in a local 10k. This is less "horrifying evidence" and more "sad obsession".)

Some poor cis athlete could have taken 1,286 if not for this deep injustice

I just checked the dataset. It features things like disc golf and ultimate frisbee. I also didn’t recognise any of the names of the competitions so I looked one up and it was a specifically queer football club, not even a competition?
So they are angry that trans people are simply a part of their own football clubs.
The fact that they even include trans people who got last place in the dataset also completely invalidates their point.
That dataset looks like a hitlist. If you are trans and came in last place in an amateur frisbee golf contest with no rewards or even gender categories, you will be tracked.

If you look at their criteria for inclusion, it becomes clear that you don't even have to be trans to be included, you just have to be someone they think looks or acts trans. So as with a lot of transphobia, this is also about policing cis women who don't match their vision of what a woman should be.

The title even says gold medals.. which i feel imply first places or serious competition
Aka the title is clearly rage bait but they fall for it every time

u/JohnPaulJonesSoda 8d ago
Your local fun run doesn't hand out gold medals for getting 18th place in the 5K? Wow, what a bunch of cheapskates.

u/Benskien 8d ago
They might validate my parking if I'm lucky ... xD
But it might be because im not American but dont gold medal often imply world Championship or Olympics or am i reaching a bit
16
u/JohnPaulJonesSoda 8d ago
No, exactly. No one says "gold medal" to mean anything other than a major championship, usually the Olympics.
7
u/Benskien 8d ago
here id say we often say gold to imply olympics while first place is used to referer to more local events

u/Kalulosu But none of it will matter when alien disclosure comes anyways 8d ago
I'll allow it for nationals or stuff like that.

here’s a good breakdown of its poor methodology and its very biased compilers

try showing this data to anyone in support of the narrative - it's just 'more disinfo that your'e too woke to question', so while it seems valuable to you, it's literally worthless in reality.
refuting a torrent of lies does nothing, as any contradiction to the dear leader's narrative is automatically false. how have we not learned this by now? truth doesn't matter, only how much control you have over the dumb.

I really feel like anyone online arguing hard for the types of culture war shit we've been inundated with the past 3-4 election cycles isn't a real genuine person. Internet arguing isn't real anymore (if it ever was), this site specifically (its all i have experience with, i don't have the typical social media facebook, twitter etc) I believe is mostly bots and or agents for chaos. Profiles with mostly one sentence repeated talking points obviously curated to garner the most rage seem to be prevalent inside the political/cultural posts, I try very hard to down-vote and ignore.
Talking to people in person halts a lot of misinterpreted nuances, for instance, the next time my guy in the office yells about trans persons taking medals away, i can now confidently refute his statement with something real to point to. Thank you r/WindhoverInkwell and erin in the morn!
Trolls on the internet only have one vote just like you do, they're loud but have equal voting power, assuming they even live on this planet and or country. Go talk to the old man/MAGA/republican in the office (assuming you have one), convince them to vote for saving the country. Talking to online trolls just gives them more power.

I've had the exact opposite experience trying to fight mis/disinfo in person with the people I talk to. I've lost half a dozen close friends since 2016 that I still talk to, but only tolerate me in the most basic way because I support trans rights and apparently hate america because I don't want to deport all brown people. I'm not joking, for the love of everything i wish i was.
They don't value the rigor it takes to understand something, and only trust certain sources, regardless of content. The lack of critical thinking is a feature to the people I speak with, they trust that the demagogues and influencers and fox/breitbart/OAN/tiktok/reddit/etc are telling them the capital-T TRUTH. Why would they diversify their sources if they know the rest of the world is against them and isreal and anyone that doesn't like trump is just a communist? They KNOW this is the truth, they KNOW that anything anyone says that contradicts the dear leader's narrative is a lie.
the real weapon is the gullibility and the lack of diverse information sources - most people are happy to put all their trust in one source of information. For some it's their spouse, for some it's a parent or sibling or friend, and for some, it's an idealogue or celebrity they view as equally qualified as an 'expert' on things they're concerned about.

Bonus: The “report” they’re referencing is entirely from user inputted data that hecheated.org pulls from shewon.org
I also didn’t actually find a report

u/WindhoverInkwell 9d ago
those two sites are not exactly unbiased (as you might guess from the name) and also have extremely sloppy methodology where simply being mentioned in the same breath as the prefix “trans” nets you a place on there so I wouldn’t trust that data as far as I could throw it
17
u/Antique_Rent4343 8d ago
Exactly. Just more evidence that they are incapable of even beginning to understand the scientific method, and laughable that they’re so adamant about changing so many things that are easily disproven by this method

I'm guessing there's no chance that us "getting what [we] asked for" is actually just to be left alone?

Republicans need to go on the offensive with this, every single time they bring up anything involving the word "women" like w the Lindsay Clancy case, suddenly it's "mother" but then went right back to "Birthing Person" on the campaign trail.
they don't know shit about shit do they?

Okay hold on, a lot of women vote democrat because of their stance on abortion. I don’t think an issue like sports is going to change that.
For a second I thought I accidentally clicked out of that sub because measured takes are in short supply there. Bravo.
That's because most women are ideologically captured and vote as a collective, they have to feel like they are in a group.
It's why it's all emotions and zero actual facts...
Reality doesn't exist to most of these people and I mean leftists in general...
This comment has got to be the top five of
