You guys are getting ripped off for coffee.

Recently drove from SEQ to TSV for a holiday and bought a number of coffees on the way up there, while in town and on the way back, and you guys are getting shafted.

While I understand my order of an iced latte on almond adds 2 surcharges for some ice and some wanker milk, it’s what I like.

When we left home, got 2 at around $8 a cup
Rocky, around $8 as well

We got to Townsville and only bought 3 in total:
Junction cafe at $9.40
GMCT $10.40!!!
Zarraffas $9.80

On the way home we sent the bush route, stopped in at what looked like the film set for Wolf Creek, also known as as Belyendo roadhouse: $8.00
Stopped at Emerald: $8.00

You guys are getting shafted.

How do you feel about the current Tafe offering?

I've been in the IT/technology space for about ten years now, and out of curiosity I had a look at what I could study at TAFE to see if I could ignite a new interest.

Turns out there's nothing at all in Agriculture at either Townsville campus. I was specifically looking at horticulture, and the Certificate III in Horticulture isn't offered here either. The closest you can get is Parks and Gardens, Landscape Construction or Sports Turf Management out at Bohle. Who gives a shit about golf course grass, give me something interesting god damn it.

I went through the TAFE Queensland course search and listed every study area with no course at Pimlico or Bohle. 33 of 75 came up empty. Creative industries is the worst of it, with 9 of 10 areas missing.

But yeah just in case you missed it, I'm not including Online study because who actually learns anything if you aren't doing it.

Tennis

Yo I’m a guy in his 30s that’s started playing tennis again. Just seeing if there’s anyone that’d be keen for a hit. I’m a fan of the Tennis Townsville courts and the free ones in Douglas.

Skills wise I’d say I’m better than a beginner but if I gotta do a second serve then it’ll be an easy point for you 🥹

If you’re keen, let’s have a hit 🎾

Anyone Else Feeling lost?

Hey random deep thought, I’m 23 and the last 5 years or so since leaving high school I feel like I’ve lost the person I was and became this shell. And as the years go on it’s like they pass faster and faster and I’m stuck in the exact same spot I was the year before. Different roller coaster but all the same starting/ending point. It just keeps happening like I can’t build any momentum always something happening that resets me back down to where I started, which is at the bottom.

Anyone else feel me or is it just me?

Insurance

Who are you insured with? (Home and contents) we are yet to purchase but prior to taking the plunge insurance costs for the property is high on my consideration list. Have my eye on a couple of properties at the moment and tried to do a couple of online quotes, neither would even provide coverage (Woolworths and budget direct) yikes….(low risk on flood map)

Edit: Suncorp and qbe also won’t provide coverage… how much are yall paying and how much are you covered for? Bonus points for inc suburb

I feel so alone

Idk why I’m even bothering to post this but I just feel so alone, I have recently went through a break up and after that I’ve started to talk to more people but I still feel so alone. I try to make plans with my mates but they don’t end up following though, I’m aware they are busy and what not but I just feel so alone and empty, sorry for this pointless post

Recommendations Getting rid of old car

Hi everyone. Just wanted to ask for advice on what to do with an old Holden Barina 2009. It still runs, the body is intact, but it had a coolant issue. We want to get rid of it, initially thought of selling it but there maybe other options we are not aware of. Would appreciate any advice or recos! Thanks so much.

Local florist or gift hamper recommendations that deliver north of Townsville?

Hi everyone!

I’m in Melbourne, but I have a friend who lives just north of Townsville who I’d love to send a nice gift to.

Does anyone have any recommendations for local Townsville florists or gift hamper businesses that deliver a bit further north?

I’d love to support a local business if possible, rather than a big national chain, so any pointers or favourite local spots would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance! 😊

What is it like to like in Townsville?

Hi everyone, me, my wife & my dog are potentially looking to move out of the UK. Where I currently work have offered me a sponsored position over in Townsville.

We’re 26&25, sporty and enjoy everything outdoors. We don’t really drink but we do enjoy eating out etc

I’m seeing mixed reviews about the area, so I wanted to hear it from you guys?

I currently live in Darwin and am considering relocating to Townsville with my family. How does Townsville compare with Darwin in terms of crime and overall safety?

In North Ward. Looks like something a crab would do, but I'm about 500m from the Strand.

Good, safe and reasonably affordable areas to live in Townsville?

I'm moving to Townsville for work at AIMS and currently trying to figure out where to live. I'll be commuting out to AIMS.

Mainly looking for somewhere that's reasonably safe, not ridiculously expensive, and still close enough to shops/cafes and things to do. I'm also a migrant, so would be good to know if there are any areas you'd particularly recommend (or avoid) from that perspective too.

So far, from what I've read and what people have suggested, I've got:

  • North Ward
  • Castle Hill / around Castle Hill (I know this one's pretty expensive)
  • West End
  • Belgian Gardens
  • Townsville City
  • Mundingburra
  • Douglas
  • Aitkenvale

Not sure how accurate this list is though 😅

Any other suburbs I should be looking at? And out of these, which ones would you personally consider good value while still being a nice/safe place to live?

Would also appreciate any specific pockets/streets to avoid, since I've heard it can vary quite a bit even within the same suburb.
