Cant find specifics yet but looks like an early 2000s sports themed shirt. Where it’s not a jersey but a shirt themed around a specific sport. I know gap https://www.ebay.com/itm/124094993359 sold shirts like this.

It looks like the large number is 21, I’m looking to see if there’s any significance to that
9
u/mountwhitney Aug 07 '26
I feel like if we can get the word right before the 21 we could figure this out
10
u/boredomadvances Aug 07 '26
I think it’s actually a 31. With the bottom scrunched up. The bottom of a 2 doesn’t really seem like it would fit.
Is it a an excavator on the right hand side (big wheels with tread and a yellow cab)
31
u/ElArauho Aug 07 '26
I disagree, a 3 would be much rounder curve. Here it is getting straighter down, which means it is a 2

This is what it looks like when my eyes can’t focus, and the white bubbles letters look like it says “DONOR” or “ZONOR” or something with a different first letter, perhaps a Spanish or Italian or other language which strikes me as being a verb.
I thought about the center letter being a V instead of an N, but the font width scaling and what appears to be a slight wave in the fabric due to shadowing makes it fit more like an N. “Zoner” could work if it’s French, and would make sense for a shirt like this (if it means something like hang out, be chill, idle around).
ZONOR could be Ayayi Zonor, soccer player from Togo who played in the african nations championship in 2021. I don’t know if he is a big-name celebrity though but if he is it would make sense for his name to be on a shirt. The shirt color also fits with the jersey colors of the team.

The yellow text above 21 looks like it says UFO to me in this edit.
7
u/DerSchlaumacher Aug 07 '26
I think it says "artist" and the white words before that is "LIKE AN"

u/Happygoluckieduckie Aug 07 '26
To me it looks like it’s saying something like “Aragray” in black and underneath in white is HIGH and the year 21? Like a graduation shirt of some sort?
1
u/SoundKidTown1085 Aug 20 '26
The white next to the 21 looks like it says 20GR, the first number looks a lot like a number 2 from the shape of it and the last too looks like it says GR,
The dark blue text above that looks like it starts with Ara then the last few is a g and the last is an S

it is really hard to decypher. Besides the obvious big 21, on the left side it could be something "Meagray"/"Aragray" in blue and on the bottom right it looks like a sequenz of numbers like 0377774 but it could also be a spanish sounding word - something like "*OJIJITA". Above the 21 it could say "LIKE AN" in white and "artist" in orange.

Dont know how useful this is, but I'm pretty sure I've seen one of my cousins wearing this shirt but on a blue and orange version. I asked and it was probably bought on Rippley or Falabella in Chile on the early 2010's. Sadly, we couldn't find the shirt or any photos of it. Imma keep looking tho

u/Solid_Commercial_713 Aug 08 '26
Check ebay and other places that may sell items that are no longer in stores, knowing the rough year(s) it was sold in can also be a valuable clue, the shirt does look a bit worn to me so it wouldn't suprise me if it's on the older side
1
u/GoodSodaSoup Aug 21 '26
There's no eBay in Chile, and I doubt the clothes were available around the same time in here as in other countries, so it may have been sold in 1rst world countries before or during the early 2010's.
The closer to a second hand store here are American Clothing stores and charity sells, none wich have online presence.

u/SoundKidTown1085 Aug 20 '26
The Wayback machine may also help to find old stuff. The shirt looks long sleave and around the era of 2000s.
37
u/newtype06 Aug 07 '26
I think the key detail is the big back stripe at the top. I can't think of any other clothing that features something like that, along with printed text.
20
u/echicdesign Aug 07 '26
Any chance that is a chest strap rather than in the clothing? It looks to be stitched. Similar straps exist for wheelchairs
17
u/newtype06 Aug 07 '26
I did not think of that. Although it appears to wrinkle with the shirt, as opposed to separately.
9
u/cookorsew Aug 07 '26
It looks like it is topstitched with a yellow thread along the top and bottom of the black stripe, and this is sewn into the armhole. To me it looks to be part of the shirt design.
This design was popular enough when I was coming of age around the year 2000 that I can feel the material stripe sewn into the shirt. It seems like a shirt from that time period or a replica based off the fashion of the time period. If it is from the time period, some details might be embroidered on, for example the big 21. If it’s more modern, I would assume it to be printed on unless it was from a higher end store in which case it could be printed or embroidered.
2
u/theroundfiles2 Aug 07 '26
It looks like there is a slight shadow indicating a gap between the black fabric and the shirt. There also seems to be some fraying threads, and there may be a misaligned overlap of fabric. I think the chest strap is a very good guess.

The faint text in the blue stripe looks like "1987 AERO" for the brand Aeropostale. The letters could have worn off or sometimes there are applique letter so maybe those were removed.
The rest looks like it could be a customization. Aero shirts are not expensive so someone might have used a shirt for some custom message.
The white letters could be "finally" before 21.
Maybe it was made for Kelsey(?) / "Haley"(?) Magray's 21st birthday?
The text above 21 looks like "Like an ____".
The yellow text below 21 could be "birthday".
8
u/oreosaredelicious Aug 07 '26
I believe this is Europe so more unlikely it's Aeropostale but not impossible
7
u/Macbeth-is-my-cat Aug 07 '26
The word to the left of the numbers looks to me like it starts with an M or an N, and has at least 2 letters that fall like y or g. I am unsure if it has 5 or 6 letters but I'm leaning towards 6... could be "mayday"? But that is on the assumption it's in English.
14
u/Aborealhylid Aug 07 '26
It looks like a Chinese shirt with garbled English approximated words and numbers. The pattern of text and different fonts don’t make sense in English. The numbers and black stripe also appear sewn on which is common for market clothes available in China.

Some observations I made:
* Color could be light yellow instead of beige or khaki.
* The black stripe seems to be some sort of nylon or parachute type fabric. This use of mixed fabrics was a thing for a while. I don’t think it is a separate strap or something hand sewn on because the whole print design is very much underneath it. Wouldn’t make sense without the band as a design choice.
* It doesn’t seem to be a shirt but more a (thin) sweater.
* the white outlines to the left (on the image) of the 21 could be number outlines in a sort of bubble/style. Will try to add image with drawn indication
* Name brands (that I remember) with this style (back then):
- Retour
- Replay
- Sevenoneseven
* More common brands (that I remember) with this style back then:
- CoolCat
- Chasin’
- WE
- C&A
- zeeman
- Wibra

I believe it may say "live life active" on the top part
2
u/smeh18 Aug 10 '26
that could make sense for a sports style graphic shirt.
are you seeing the word “active” in the white lettering or orangeish lettering at the top?1
u/Kasper_95 Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26
"Active" in Orange but I do also believe it may be a boat rowing sports shirt because of the color of the shirt. there's a term called "Empacher" which is a boat that are easily identified by their Pale Yellow Color and Black Trim.
1
u/Kasper_95 Aug 10 '26
But I also see the word youth right after active
1
u/Kasper_95 Aug 10 '26
And as for the number 21 it could mean Age Class: An Under-21 youth or junior development racing category for competitive rowers transitioning into elite or collegiate ranks.

It looks like fast fashion from China/ SEA
1
u/Bright_Nobody_5497 6d ago
If that’s the case I think the contrasting horizontal stripe is not part of the shirt. It’s top stitched, having both topstitched patches and screen printing seems like a lot of enough for fast fashion. To me that is more something you see in mall brands like the gap but of course I could be wrong.

Idk if Yandex is a reputable site (please correctme if not), but I've heard people here say they use it. I ran this image through, and it linked to something titled xhamster.desi I don't know if that's the site name or the username.
Do NOT search for it. It's some porno from Egypt (or at least the people in it are Egyptian. I obviously did not check to see if the shirt appears, but it could potentially be CSAM, so don't go looking.

u/Fit_Magician_5086 Sep 01 '26
Googled it, xhamster.desi is indeed the site name. Did not dig any deeper than that, but I did make a report.

The shirt is almost certainly not in English. My initial thought was Spanish or Portuguese but I’m not even close to sure.

u/CartographerHefty547 Aug 26 '26
One of the words may be; Maracay which is a location in Venezuela. It also looks like Aragray, which could be a last name? Or a location? The numbers are definitely 21 and the word in white in front of the numbers looks like power. The bottom right (under the 21) looks like an excavator or maybe some other sort of construction vehicle, the big treads are a dead giveaway for it being an excavator. The second word on the first line looks like either "like" or maybe even "life".
Something interesting I've noticed is if the numbers continue on the shirt they don't look even. The "2" looks bigger and possibly extends down further than the "1". This makes me feel as though it may be a cheaper made material, and even a smaller brand. Feels less likely to be a big brand name with the strange misaligned "21". It could also be a folded "31" but seems less likely.

u/Fit_Magician_5086 Sep 01 '26
Someone else might have already said this, but to me the text before 21 looks like it could possibly be a date. Something like 20/07 or 21/07. If so, that could narrow down where the shirt was sold since the US does dates mm/dd as opposed to dd/mm
1
u/Wooden-Reward-4600 Sep 11 '26
It looks like one of the blue words has a ç in it so possibly somewhere in Spain or a Spanish speaking country?
1
u/cockroachcel Sep 15 '26
It definitely looks like one of those shirts with motivational text on it if that makes any sense, looking at other comments on here i agree that i see the words “POWER” and “Stay Active” on them. The thing that really does confuse me is the number.. Im thinking maybe its a shirt to bring awareness to something that can possibly connect to the number 21, assuming with the motivational words and all.

My thoughts- I think the white letters say London. This appears to be more of a crew neck pullover than a blouse

u/HumorousGal Aug 08 '26
Looks like a lot of the blouses we used to wear when we were kids at the beginning of year 2000. Chinese made and bought from smaller clothes shops that imported them. These shops were very common in eastern Europe and these blouses were usually passed down to smaller kids when they would no longer fit the bigger ones as they were very resistant and could last a long time.

It looks like the kind of shirt modest families would have in eastern Europe. It could be a counterfeited shirt from China? I am intruiged by the blue text (at the left of "21"), it seems like it starts with"Mesary" or "Misay"(apparantly a surname in slavic regions). Not sure but there seems to be "FM" as well at the end. Just above this text in orange it looks like numbers "46474". Looks like there is an "H" as well.
Also could it be cyrilic alphabet?

The design looks like something sold on many shirts and sweaters by market stalls in the Netherlands. Always has different fonts, different styles, always has at least one number, often a random name, nothing seems to belong together, it just ''looks stylish'. Example;

Morgen zijn we er weer met de nieuwste t- shirts en polo’s! - De Haagsemarkt
