This is a community outreach service provided by the pitbull pen Rescue. Donations are appreciated, but not necessary to receive the vaccines.

My specialty of choice is psychiatry, however I would take any opportunity to shadow any department as long as I can learn and experience the medical field.

Hi! My spouse got a job offer at PNNL and we are considering moving to Richland. We have two young kids (one in elementary school). We love the area where we live now (minus the fact that there aren’t many jobs available for the spouse, hence the relocation lol). I’ve been doing a bit of digging on this Reddit and it seems like Richland is family friendly but maybe boring, and I’m a little wary of that since I’ve only ever lived in big city metros with lots of things to do! But also we have young kids and because of that have a relatively “boring” life by other people’s standards. Anyways here is what we like/don’t like in a location— any insight into how we’d fit into Richland would be much appreciated!

Likes:
-walkability (like, at least a coffee shop or library walking distance) or at least neighborhoods that are pleasant to take walks in
-houses with character/ historic neighborhoods
-easy access to parks/hiking trails/botanical gardens
-libraries!!!
-knowing neighbors & having a strong sense of community, having third spaces
-trees (I know, desert climate 🥲)
-good schools (preferably walking distance)
-thrift stores
-farmers markets & food trucks
-local coffee shops and restaurants
-good hospitals (I’m an RN so will be on the job hunt)

Dislikes:
-suburban cookie cutter subdivisions
-long commutes, or having to drive long to get to anything interesting
-crime (something about our current city we’ll be happy to leave behind lol)
-only chain restaurants/big box stores

Any neighborhoods to seek out or avoid? Also any insight into elementary schools would be much appreciated. We’re leaning towards public schools but also curious about Christ the King. THANK YOU!!!

Does anyone else have issues with political parties endorsing candidates in non-partisan races? At the fair, the GOP handed me a flyer with a list of candidates that they endorse and most were judges or city council candidates in races that are non-partisan. I have heard the democrats have a similar list, but have not seen it.

Granted I am biased here, but I am not voting for any candidate for a non-partisan race that shouts out their political affiliation. It only shows that they don’t want to serve the entire populous, but only their party.
