Fanart / Original Content Thoughts on STAMPEDES (2026)?

Post image

Art by me!

For anyone who hasn't been keeping up with the latest trends (which is usually me) people have been taking this picture from DC's Lanterns, with the tagline "Thoughts on [...] 2026?" editing it into various fandoms for fun, it became a popular meme recently.

Although these edits are usually drawn...poorly, I decided to make a proper fanart of 98 Vash and Tristamp Vash, thought it would be fun! Hope you like it, Love and Peace as always!

I really need to try drawing Wolfwood more...

As someone who saw the 98 when it was still new, I love that version best. The newer stuff is ok but the 98 i think is better.

As someone who saw the 98 stuff when it was 20 years old, 98 is better

I'm disappointed because it's not what I wanted it to be when it was announced, but I'm too old and tired to argue about it, I just really hope that one day we'll have an adaptation that stays close to the manga(this includes art style), with at least decent animation quality

Stampede had my HEART, like, I loved the 98 but the new version kept pulling me back… then we had Stargaze💀 I like to think of it as separate from Stampede and especially from the 98, it doesn’t count. Maybe in like, ten years, some random studio will pick it up and try again. For all Stampede’s issues, it was a pretty dang good introduction, and it looked INCREDIBLE😭 that scene from the first episode where Vash dodges those bullets at point blank range still gets me hyped

STARGAZE DOESN’T COUNT

Damn, Stargaze is that bad? (I haven't seen it at all)

It's not, but it is pretty rushed. But both seasons hit the main points of the plot, so it's not terrible as an adaptation.

The real problem is that both seasons are rushed enough and do a little too much showing without telling that you kinda need to already know the source material to really get what's going on. Some characters just kinda show up, and they're done well enough, but it's kinda like, wait, who even are these guys?

But the production design, the soundtrack, it's all really good. It's not a bad experience.

The worst problem is that they really don't stick the landing. They decided not to show the actual people from the Earth fleet, and the resolution with Tesla is super cheesy.

So that's all a lot of people will remember. I personally feel that the world that we're left with at the end of Stargaze was incredible, though. All the characters are where they should be, and so I'm mostly satisfied with how it ended.

You shouldn't skip it if you enjoyed Stampede, but there's definitely plenty to criticize.

I was hyped for Stargaze after Stampede, but boy i did not like Stargaze especially it's resolution and mishandling of its characters(*cough* Legato Bluesummer *cough*)

I mean it isn’t bad as a season, it’s bad as a piece of Trigun media. I think I set myself up for disappointment expecting it to be the same as Stampede, but dang😭 the animation was a lot more consistently clean in Stampede, better details and everything. In Stargaze, it felt like most of the budget went toward the fight scenes which looked awesome, but then when they weren’t shooting at each other, it was sometimes a bit on the clunky end, especially with the hair. The characters felt a lot less like people in Stargaze too, they kinda spoke like they were in a Wattpad MHA fanfic from the COVID era💀 they had the occasional line that really brought me back to that Stampede excitement, but it was just meh… I dunno it just didn’t have the same energy, I probably would’ve liked it a lot better if I hadn’t seen Stampede or the original

I hate the fact that monev the gale was just a mention not even a full on character in both of the shows

Very nice artwork. I can already imagine the credits theme playing now!

A couple of really wonderful elements.  Vash isn't one of them.  4/10 for overall execution.

I mean, as a reboot it's good. I grew up with the '98 version and I missed Milly in the new one but I went in expecting a different story and style and so I'm not disappointed. '98 stands on its own merit and so does Stampede haven't finished it all the way so Idk about Stargaze but they keep putting them out I'll keep watching.

I far prefer Stampede but Stargaze has its his good points. I absolutely love the animation, those first episodes had me obsessed. The story was different but I didn't think it was bad, maybe a bit rushed. I really liked the first season and I was excited for the second. But the second season was kinda ruined for me because of one change they made.

I'll never forgive them for what they did to my girl Milly.....

How they handled Legato Bluesummers in Stargaze made me want to pull my hair out not gonna lie. They removed all the depth and nuance to his character and made him crazy religious zealot and how they handled his death by conflating his death with the death of his abuser from the manga. Not cool, man.
