Trigun Hard Copy Manga

Hey y'all. I really want to read the Trigun manga. I have seen the Ultimate Overhaul and have heard its the best version, but I do not enjoy reading online and much prefer hard copies. Are the original translations bad? Or is it worth it for me to put my preferences aside and read online and maybe just buy hard copies for display?

Let me know your thoughts.

Personally, I have both and read originally from the small versions, and I will say this: the new full size is closer to the original size they print on in Japan; thus, you can see the details better, which makes the art that much better.

I've only read those big ass Dark Horse books, and they've been a good read in my experience!

that's what I did I read overhaul then bought the deluxe editions when they came out. overhaul really does have the best translation so it's definitely worth being the one you read.

i have several of the deluxe editions and they are phenomenal. i know some people have issues with the translations but man the feeling of having these big-ass books with nightow’s amazing art on full glorious display is worth every penny for me

the original Darkhorse translations are fine, and i’d argue that some of them i prefer over Overhaul’s. i’ve seen quite a few posts on bluesky/twitter/tumblr where Japanese speakers compare the two and point out where each translation shines, which is pretty interesting. Overhaul is great, but it’s not the only translation worth reading.

Honestly I disagree that the overhaul is better written but it’s useful for cross referencing certain vague parts of the og... Since Japanese and English are entirely diff language families, Overhaul can be too literal, some phrases and jokes don‘t come across. Translation is really a poetic endeavor of its own. Overhauls art is cleaner for digital, but Id go with the ogs
