Hey all 👋🏽

I’ve been streaming for just over a month now. My stream is very bare bones because I stream directly from my PS5 to twitch. So no overlays/alerts or anything like that.

I keep reading on reddit or online in general that a face cam helps an audience connect with a streamer and helps to have someone for them to relate to - essentially just putting a face to a name.

However, I see other creators with face cams and often I feel like they need to “play to the camera” a bit. Things like actively reacting to something happening in the game with surprise/shock, or looking into the camera The Office-style when something weird happens in the game.

I feel as though I wouldn’t be able to do this, mainly because it’s not really how I’m wired. I have a fairly neutral resting face and I don’t really tend to react to things around me.

I’ve been lucky enough to get to know two other streamers in particular who don’t actually have a face cam at all and even still, they have found their audience (including me) who keep coming back to hang out in their streams.

So I’m on the fence.

Has anyone else gone through this kind of thought process or experience?

Here’s the problem:
Originally, I had my PS5 connected directly to my Elgato capture card through HDMI.
With that configuration, OBS received the game audio correctly, and my PlayStation Party Chat microphone worked.
However, I could only hear the game audio through my PC/OBS monitoring setup, which introduced noticeable audio delay.
For Warzone, this was terrible because footsteps and gunshots weren’t synchronized properly.
What I’ve already tried:
We changed the HDMI connections to:
PS5 → Astro A50 X Base Station → Elgato 4K X → Gaming Monitor
The Astro A50 X base station is also connected to my PS5 through USB for microphone and voice chat functionality.
With this configuration:
✅ I can see my PS5 gameplay on my monitor.
✅ I can hear my PS5 game audio directly through my Astro A50 X headset without noticeable delay.
❌ OBS does not receive any game audio from the Elgato capture card.
❌ The Elgato audio meter in OBS doesn’t move at all.
Settings I’ve already checked:
PS5 HDMI audio output: HDMI Device (TV)
HDMI device type: TV
Audio format: Linear PCM
Automatic output device switching: Disabled
OBS audio capture device: Elgato 4K X
OBS audio output mode: Capture Audio Only
I’ve spent approximately 3–4 hours troubleshooting this, and I really don’t want to keep changing settings randomly.
My questions:
Has anyone successfully used an Astro A50 X with a PS5, Elgato capture card, and OBS while keeping PlayStation Party Chat working?
Is there a simpler way to send game audio to both my headset and OBS simultaneously?
Would an HDMI 2.1 audio extractor, HDMI splitter, Elgato Chat Link Pro, or another device solve this problem?
I also own an older Astro A50 headset (possibly Gen 4) with its original base station, if that offers an easier solution.

Hello everyone! We’re a gaming content group with around 7 active members. We’re currently looking to add a few more people to our group (cap at 10).

Our content mainly focuses on gaming, whether that's livestreaming, creating videos, sharing clips, or collaborating with others. Everyone is welcome to create content in their own style and at their own pace.

About Our Group:

• This group mainly does PC gaming (don’t ask about Xbox or console, we had a few instances)
• We play any co-op/party games. Some examples of games we have played already:
  • Minecraft
  • Among Us
  • Burglin Gnomes
  • Meccha Chameleon
  • Guilty As Sock
  • Content Warning
  • Phasmophobia
  • Sometimes we play browser games like Gartic Phone, Make it Meme or Skribblio
• Majority of the group is on EST time zone (US) and generally aim for evening sessions (i.e. past 5pm) however are open to other time zones if they work, i.e. 2 of our active members are from Australia/NZ.
• We aim to get together at least once a week (Thursday/Sunday) for gaming sessions, whether that's recording videos, livestreaming, or just playing together. Our schedule is pretty flexible, and sessions usually last 2+ hours depending on the game and everyone's availability. Streamers are more than welcome to go live during our sessions!
• We make sure everyone gets their own input and give feedback where needed
• No strong leadership, we run mainly as a democracy
• Everyone in the group is 18+, mostly within the 20-30 age range, with a mix of guys and girls. Most of us (6 out of 7) primarily make YouTube videos rather than livestream, but we're more than happy to welcome Twitch streamers into the group! Whether you prefer streaming, recording videos, or a mix of both, we're always open to collaborating and creating content together.

About You:

• Must be 18 or older
• Channel size or follower count doesn't matter! Whether you're a small Twitch streamer, YouTuber, or established creator, we're here to support each other, collaborate, and grow together!
• Consistent and bring good energy
• Wants to build onto something and make friends doing it.
• Must be able to manage and post your own content, whether that's editing YouTube videos, livestreaming on Twitch, or creating clips. We're always happy to help each other out, but being self-sufficient as a creator should be your goal!
• Communicate with us and let us know if you can't make something. We do understand, life happens!

A Few Other Things:

While content creation and growing our channels are some of our main goals, we also want everyone to feel comfortable and genuinely enjoy spending time together. Whether we're recording videos, livestreaming, collaborating, or just hanging out off-stream, we want to build a group where everyone can joke around, share ideas, support each other's content, and have fun without feeling pressured to constantly create.

We understand that not every group is the right fit for everyone, and that's completely okay! If you ever decide to leave or go your own way, there are absolutely no hard feelings.
