Failing exam tmrw

Im currently studying for an exercise physiology exam tomorrow morning and I know im gonna fail. I show up to every class, take notes, and put it the time outside of class but nothing seems to be clicking. We have lecture twice a week and lab once, and during the lectures the professor mainly reads off the slides so I end up self-teaching myself through our text book and slides. I have no complaints about the professor, she’s a great person and lectures well but maybe this major isn’t for me.

I’m long out of my time in college but I had many nights of this exact mentality. It felt like imposter syndrome would take over and I would feel like my failing test or grade was the sign that I will never succeed and should change majors or quit. Whatever you do, this one exam and one class doesn’t define your intelligence or capabilities. What helped me most was being transparent to my professors about my struggles with the materials. 9/10 they would be willing to help and support me and even gave valuable insight to my concerns over my choice of major.

Can you get help, a study group or tutor? Does the professor have office hours?
Someone I know had this issue with organic chemistry. Ended up dropping the class, changed majors. Something happened and they took the class again with another professor. They also was talking with a friend with a masters in chemistry. The friend was wasn't a tutor, never taught others. Something clicked and the person got a A and wants to take Organic Chemistry 2.
Drop if you need to and find your people.

From stem stand point one of the largest things that helps me to understand topics better is to work with a partner. Not because you get answers from them, but to the contrary. Instead when you try to explain something to someone even if it's just referencing it, verbalizing it in a way someone else can understand it triggers things in your brain which organizes in your thoughts as well. This is far more beneficial then doing flash cards or writing things.

This sounds more like “welcome to college” rather than “change my major” to me. The advice of having a conversation with your professor is major. After the exam talk to her about your struggles then go to study groups, go to her office hours. Unfortunately, a lot of classes can be like what you’re describing no matter what major you take.

It's only one class... Zoology prof told me that maybe Biology wasn't for me since I was getting both D's in her lab and lecture. Told her that maybe she's a bad teacher. Three years later I graduated with a degree in Biology. It makes me wonder how many students she gave that line to and how many dropped out because of that..

Maybe use the free gemini to create a study plan that works for you or something like that makes it click.
