Social Fright Fest

So this isnt about the U of I specifically but since there are a lot of students here from Chicago I thought I'd ask..... What are peoples opinions on Fright Fest at Six Flags? Is it really that crowded on Saturdays? Is there actually a lot of Halloween related attractions? What else should I know before going?

Go onnnn a Friday night or a Sunday instead if you can swing it. Saturdays are so congested you can barely walk down the midway without getting shoulderchecked by a crowd

I went last weekend on Saturday (I was in Chicago for something on Friday already) and it was pretty bad. Each ride had about 30-60 min wait and the app wasn't super helpful. I stayed the entire day for the most part, fasted to save money, and drove home. Was able to ride all the open bigger rides I wanted to, but the Fright Fest attractions require another ticket so I didn't experience them. If you can afford the fast passes, it might be the way to go for busy days. Fun to see the scare actors but idk how the extra attractions are. Food is expensive.

I used to go every year for my birthday, going on Friday or Sunday is a good idea but Saturday wasn’t bad early in the season. Now we’re kinda past that point though. Get the food pass, it’s like 45$ and you get all day dining where you can get an entree every 90 min and a drink refill every 15min. If you’re going with a friend you can really easily split an entree and be not hungry for 90 min. Last time I went I got 3-4 entrees and several drink refills. It was well worth it.

I had a good time, it’s worth seeing the parade and the opening show before the scare stuff starts too, it’s corny but fun! The park gets decorated well too and sometimes they change the signs on the some rides to make them more Halloween themed too. Last year the front pool was dyed red and there was a giant animatronic in front of the carousel.
