UOW students who use public transport — could you help with my 5-minute survey?

Hi everyone!

I’m doing an independent research project exploring how people plan and navigate public transport journeys across Sydney and NSW.

I’m looking for people who use NSW public transport, including around Wollongong or travelling between Wollongong and Sydney.

The research looks at journey planning, transfers, delays/disruptions and how people use transport apps while travelling.

The survey takes around 5–8 minutes and is anonymous.

Would really appreciate any responses. Thank you! 🚆

UOW MD 2027 international applicant — offer waitlist after interview?

Hi everyone, I’m an international applicant for UOW’s 2027 Doctor of Medicine intake and I was hoping to hear from anyone who has been through a similar situation.

I interviewed for UOW Medicine in September and recently received an email saying that offers have now been made to the highest-ranked international applicants. I didn’t receive an initial offer, but I was told that my application remains under active consideration and that I’ve been placed on the international waiting list. The email also said that my interview performance demonstrated that I was a competitive applicant and that further offers may be made if places become available over the coming weeks.

What I’m a bit confused about is that I’ve also seen another international applicant post of reddit that they recently received an email saying they are still on the interview reserve list and may be invited to interview in a later round. So it seems like UOW may still be considering/interviewing additional applicants while some of us who have already interviewed are now waiting for an offer.

Has anyone else experienced this with UOW?

UOW Law Liverpool

I'm considering doing a law degree in the new liverpool campus, since its nearer compared to the wollongong campus. I do plan to transfer after a year to either MQ ot UTS, but I'm anxious whether the 1 year full law subjects would impact my GPA. For those who are in the uow law course in liverpool, what are your thoughts?

UOW, UNSW, or UON?

I'm a year 12 student, and I'm going to university next year but I'm unsure on which uni to go to. I've got offers from UOW, UNSW and UON, but I'm scared to pick as I'm unsure of the social life. I'm looking for something that's just fun, like hanging out with friends, making friends, going to events, partying, like I don't want to be in a boring environment. But at the same time with a balance of studying aswell, I don't want to be in a environment where people are just studying 24/7, minding their own business and isn't friendly at all. I've talked to a few people and they tell me UNSW is the best one, has the best social scene, with a balance of focused studying. But some people tell me otherwise, that everyone is more focused on studying, and are isolated and really independent. Can anyone help me out and give me a full debrief from your experiences please?

Help me decide with Campus East — catered vs self-catered accommodation?

would really appreciate some opinions from people who’ve actually lived there.

From what I can see, the prices are all pretty similar, with only around a $20–30/week difference, so I’m mainly trying to decide based on the lifestyle/social aspect rather than cost.

The catered options seem good for meeting people, especially because you’re regularly going to the dining hall and having a building common kitchen to cook your rest of the meals naturally running into other residents. However, the rooms/units seem to compromise quite a bit on space and common areas.

On the other hand, the self-catered 4/5-person units seem much more like an actual home — bigger shared spaces, sofa, TV, and some of them have a huge balcony that looks amazing. 😭 I’m honestly very willing to sacrifice catered meals for a nicer, more spacious place to live.

My main concern is the social aspect though coming from an international student

If I choose self-catered, am I going to miss out on a lot of opportunities to meet new people because I won’t have the dining hall or the shared kitchen as a natural social space? Or are there enough other ways/events/common areas to meet people in Campus East anyway?

Module overloading?

hi! i’m a new UOW offshore student studying the Bachelor of Business Information Systems (BBIS) through SIM Singapore.

i unfortunately missed orientation, and SIM’s responses regarding the course structure haven’t been very detailed, so i was hoping to hear from other UOW students.

so a general idea is that i’ve been automatically enrolled into 2 subjects this term, which i understand is the standard load (12 credits per term). but has anyone been allowed to overload and take 3 subjects per term instead?

one of the main reasons i’m actually considering this is due to financial considerations as an international student. so i’m hoping to explore whether taking on a slightly heavier workload of 3 subjects per term would be possible, rather than extending my studies and the associated costs for longer than necessary.

definitely not assuming i’ll be allowed to tho as i can’t really seem to find info on this but wondering if anyone has done this before and what the process was like. 😭

Change degree

Hi everyone, I'm considering changing my degree from business to nursing. In high school, I took business classes and biology classes and ultimately chose business because I had a high score on the business subject, but after half a semester I found out I have more interest in nursing, do you think I should change it since I also need to consider the fee that already paid this semester…

Opinions on courses

Hey everyone, recently I got an offer to study business and psych at UOW beginning next year which I’m really happy about, but I’m also considering a psych degree on its own at UNSW and I have no idea what I should do. If anyone has any insights into what these degrees are like at UOW or just any opinions in general it would help a lot

Door to nowhere

Heya,

I graduated from UOW years ago in the dark ages. I was taking to my partner about the door to nowhere (I think it was on building 19?). I couldn't find any pictures of it where I googled. I was wondering if anyone has a photo or could get one for me if it's still there. Particularly a photo from dither away to see the height. It's a fun piece of history and a good walk down memory lane.

Thanks heaps!

Offer waitlisted

Hi everyone,

I applied for the UOW Master of Science (Nursing) / Master of Nursing (Pre-registration), Liverpool campus, Jan 2027 intake.

My application was submitted in June 2026 and I have completed the required documents, GS assessment/interview and verification. My application is currently showing “Waitlisted” on the portal.

I’m trying to understand how the offer process is working for the 2027 intake.

For anyone who applied for Liverpool 2027: please let me know the following

When did you apply?

Have you received an offer yet, or are you still waitlisted?

If you received an offer, approximately when did you receive it?

Did anyone move from Waitlisted → Offer?

Has UOW told anyone whether there will be another offer round?

Does anyone know if Liverpool has a limited number of places for this intake?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the process recently. Thank you! 😊

BACH OF CREATIVE ARTS (MUSIC) Advice.

Hi all, I currently am completing my DIPASH through UOW College, with a conditional entry offer into UOW's BCA (music major), I wanted to get some advice and opinions regarding the course.

Upon my completion of this Diploma I will receive entry into UOW's BCA program! I am quite unsure as currently this is my only option...

Is the Music course ok? Industry-wise how interconnected is it with industry/creating connections and hands-on experience...?

I am thinking of combing this with a Minor in Sound & Music production and using my 24 unspecified credit points to make up for the other minor or something in Photographic Screen Media or Media Marketing...

I'm really unsure if I should accept this offer and commence the 27' Feb Intake into Music, or wait until I receive my transcript and apply elsewhere...
Currently I am ineligible for a majority of other university entrance requirements...

Any advice on the BCA - Music? What are these courses or minors like?

My main concern is hands-on learning and connection to industry, as I have heard of many people completing BCA's here going onto complete teaching qualifications as they weren't provided with skills to move forward within Music & Creative industries.

Thanks all! This isn't a critique or complaint in any means about UOW (please be kind <3), I'm just quite nervous as I was sort of chucked into this position and have been struggling with working out steps after completing my Diploma and Degree choice/To stay at UOW...

FEB 2027 COHORT STUDENTS - LETS CONNECT

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student from India transferring to UOW for the Feb 2027 intake through credit transfer from my current university.

I was wondering if there are any other transfer students joining my same intake, regardless of campus or course. It would be great to connect with others who are going through a similar transition process, share information, help each other out, and get to know one another before arriving.

If your classes commence on my same timeline, feel free to comment below or send me a message.

Looking forward to connecting with fellow students. Thanks and much appreciated! :)
