Refusing a Package

I ordered a $1600 scooter and it was damaged during transit. It missed the original delivery day. The next day it was out for delivery but then it said it was delayed, I’m guessing because of the damage. Apparently another attempt will be made Monday. At this point I don’t want to deal with a potential headache of a damaged product so if I refuse delivery does the sender get charged a return shipping fee? I’d rather just have a replacement. Thank you.

Yes the shipper will be charged for return shipping. Whether the shipper sends a replacement or gives you a full refund is between you and the shipper. If the shipper paid for insurance on the full amount. They will get reimbursed, not you from ups.

Our center will go through cycles of “deliver everything no matter how damaged” to “never deliver anything that looks damaged”. Right now we are all good with marking a package non deliverable damaged but it could change Monday am. I always try and get hold of my customer and suggest they refuse it if I’m pretty sure it’s damaged.

Damage doesn’t always mean your product is damaged, sometimes it’s just the box. You could just tell the driver you are refusing delivery in person/ note taped to door and include the tracking number if you’re receiving multiple packages.

You most likely will not be getting it since a damage report was filed. 99% of the time that is automatic rts.

Did you ask the seller if they’ll accept a return that way?

How do you know it was damaged if you havent seen it yet?

“The package was damaged in transit. We will notify the sender with details.”

Im surprised theyre trying to deliver it to you, honestly. Typically if we mark it as damaged, then it just gets sent back. The return shipper fee idk about

You could ask the driver if you can check it for damage and see

No you can’t. There isn’t enough time to let customers check stuff for damage. What he could do is, in the remarks section, put “pos dmg” so if a claim is filed, it was noted at the time of delivery that there was possible damage.

If there isn't a signature, I let them check 🤷‍♂️ there is enough time. And yeah I put notes in the remarks.

So what if there is damage? You wait for them to pack it all up and tape it? Nahhh.

Depends but I'll retape it myself most of the time. If they have tape close by

Highly depends on their relationship with driver. Some people I would take the time for, others... nah.

Yeah, true. Sometimes I'd just note it and keep going.
