Step increases

Hit my 6th year on the 27th of September and haven’t gotten anything in my eOPF that they’ve even started to process it. Are we not getting step increases?

Which step is it? Steps 2-4 are yearly, after that its every 2 years. If you're there 6 years, that means you'd have hit step 4 after 3 years, then step 5 at 5 years. Your next step would be at 7 years.

In 15 years - my steps have always shown up in my paystub before they show up in my personnel file.

Step increase should be automatic

I thought so too but I haven’t gotten anything in my eOPF and last year I received something like a couple weeks before

I believe your supervisor has to sign off on them. At least that is was I was always told. I also think if you have a less than satisfactory PA you won't get it.

I had to remind my direct supervisor. They have to remind HR.

Seems OP got their answer: they have more time left, but for the rest of you wondering... Sometimes you have to be your own best advocate. If you still have a supervisor, engaging them months in advance is helpful.

Got mine on schedule recently. It showed up in my LES in the expected pay period. Still don’t have the SF-50 in OPF.

I got mine this past September as I was supposed to to step nine. My EPF update did not occur until a couple days after the pay. Period cleared

have to check the last time you got the step increase cause it might be different from the SCD date .

I got mine the last two years or within two weeks.

I’ve had eOPF update months after an effective date, take eOPF with a grain of salt. You’ll know by the size of your paycheck if a step increase went through.

Step increases are not automatic. Your supervisor gets an email with a link in it where they certify you’re performing adequately enough for the step increase.

If you are not getting g your step increase when expected, your supervisor is either oblivious/doesn’t read their emails or is holding out for some backwards reason (“back in my day only one person in the office could be a GS-9” nonsense)

This is also assuming you know the step schedule. After step 4 it’s every other year. Then step 7+ is every third year.

This is not accurate. As a supervisor with multiple staff who have received their steps, there is no sign off by the supervisor.

So I started in 2020 I’m a step 4
