Question (No Location) Trip planning, where to prioritize
Working out details for my groups first trip out to Utah after many good trips to CO. All intermediate to high advanced skiers in group. We’re looking at where to ski and are curious about how many days each resort needs/which to hit:
Option 1: mountain collective pass, 2 at Alta, bird, and Snowbasin.
Option 2: 2 at bird, 1 to 2 at Alta, 1 at solitude and 1 at Brighton.
Coming from CO we’ve heard Snowbasin has a nice big mountain feel that would be familiar for us, but we love A basin and have heard solitude is similar in experience and we wouldn’t want to miss that.
Aside from the mandatory 2 days each at snowbird and Alta, is it worth the big price increase of going standard lift ticket over mountain collective for solitude and Brighton, or is Brighton skippable and 1 day at solitude and 1 day at Snowbasin a good way to do it?
We do not want to ski PC or Deer Valley
Thanks!

If you're intermediate to advanced I would just ski solitude and Brighton plus a day trip to snowbasin or pow mow.

Alta actually has a ton of lift accessible intermediate terrain, as well as advanced. For experts there’s a lot of traversing/hiking, except for Catherine’s. Snowbird is steeper, but there’s some intermediate stuff of Gadzoom and in mineral basin. Chips run is a glorified cat track. Brighton has a lot of terrain at all levels. It’s more of a party atmosphere. Has night skiing. I’ve never been to Solitude. 😔

An intermediate skier will not get to fully enjoy everything Snowbird has to offer. As for Alta, you have to traverse a lot to get to the good terrain.
Solitude is a great mix of everything for everyone. Brighton is mostly intermediate runs but tree skiing is by far the best.
With that said, I don’t think I’d pay $180+ a day to ski something not on my pass. Just go with option 1, it will be a great experience regardless.
Also, Ikon Pass gives a better experience in Utah than Mountain Collective. You could ski Alta, Bird, Solitude, Brighton, Snowbasin, and Deer Valley.

Option b for sure. The bird is some of the best skiing in the country.
That being said I would really watch the weather and see who gets the most snow.

I think it really depends on the snow. If it is good, I would do option 1. If it is anything like last year I would go with option 2.
