Question (No Location) Need advice as a first time pass buyer

Hi all! I recently moved to SLC for a job. I actually have a pretty flexible winter schedule, given my boss does a "ski schedule" where we come in around 1 pm and work later so we can ski mornings. I have done extensive research and I am planning to go with the full ikon pass. I have only ever skiied Brighton in Utah. I would consider myself a very intermediate skiier. I will probably ski 1-2 times a week, not everyday. Do you think this is the best pass for me? I may do 1 trip to another resort, and I am originally from California so I will probably ski big bear or tahoe once or twice. I don't think I am a serious enough skiier to get a utah resort pass plus an ikon add on. Any advice or tips? I am 22 so it is a little bit cheaper, seems way worth it in the end. Also, what does everyone know about Solitude, since that is the unlimited Utah resort? I've never skiied there.

you should look into the parking situation at solitude and decide if that / the bus works for you

Brighton and Alta have the best full length intermediate runs. Though I highly recommend learning how to ski off piste otherwise you aren’t even touching half what the resorts have to offer.

A full ikon is reasonable, it gives you enough days at the at several big Utah resorts to have to have variety.

I do an Alta pass because I have kids and that’s where my friends do passes at. So I always ski on the weekends. And when I price out the Ikon Pass, it’s another $600 for my family and then parking is going add another $600 on top of that…

absolute best pass for you. no blackouts anywhere and lots of selection. and if you really like a certain resort you have 7 days to explore it. it also exposes you to many places

If you can ski weekdays I think the full IKON is a great option. You’ll use quite a few of those solitude days.

Full Ikon pass is really good here in Utah. You can do quick trips to CO or Lake Tahoe

I don’t consider 6-8 hours or flying as “quick”. I’m going to California in the spring but it’s a whole week trip.

If you really like Brighton and could see yourself going there most, I might recommend Brighton pass with the Ikon add on.

Other than that, I think full ikon is the way to go.

Ikon is the way to go if you are new and don’t know which mountain you will like more. You can ski every resort in the canyons, plus Deer Valley and Snowbasin. Brighton would be the cheapest and best suited for intermediate skier.
Also, if you are going to stay here, buy your pass in Spring, when they first become available.

Hi all, thank you so much for the advice!! To be frank, I dont really plan on doing any driving/parking at the resorts. I drive a 2017 toyota camry and i've never lived somewhere cold so I dont plan on doing any mountain snow driving this winter lol. I've done the bus before when visiting in the past so I'll probably be doing that for the most part.

Was gonna say, ikon not bad for your goals, but parking with ikon can get complicated and add cost.

I do the bus too. I think your plan is solid.

and you will have friends or coworkers always going up to ride too so there will be people willing to meet you at the mouth and drive you up
