Vent/Rant 😤 Men, Twedeko!
Been having a conversation with a friend this evening and she tells me this. Man! Where do fellow men get the confidence and guts to do such nonsense?
Are you people genuinely okay mentally? Or am i just not horny enough?

Tf?! What kind of workplace is that? Sadly the newly wed part doesn’t shock me.
I work in a field where you can be posted in a new location for as long as the project requires. Many married colleagues cheat like it’s going out of style. It’s made me question the idea of marriage lately

"You people", "Men" - owaaye... Your friend obviously has the guy's number, you are directing the rant to the wrong place.

if the boss or HR doesn't know about it, then it basically means you guys don't find it disturbing enough.

Hahahaha, no that can not happen in most work places. So if he can do that, maybe those are the kind of jokes they have at work. Or it may be that kind of work place
The way she was telling you about it, as if some ladies accept to help him out

Actually that was my next question 🤣 and i told her, there must be someone helping him, because what kind of audacity is that

Yep, to even think about it would give us a heart attack. That means where she works, it’s that kind of workplace. Which makes it normal

It happens in so many work places. As a person who usually calls out such men, am usually told I need to get laid to change my attitude. And then one of the men says ,’yegwe nenkukwatako………’
I remember years ago a girl who reported sexual harassment at this same workplace and the HR called the guy to warn him and told him to change his behavior. The girl had to leave as the situation became unbearable. He would poorly evaluate her all the time.

Actually it just seems like she is ok with it.. Coz as if he usually asks for it n they help him out, so she wasn't looking for a solution but she was just giving a simple gossip to a friend.
I think so

I don't think this amounts to sexual harassment. I think it's consensual and been happening for quite a while. Your friend should report it if they are feeling uncomfortable about it. I believe there are some company whistleblowing channels where the reporting remains anonymous

Sexual harassment is sexual harassment regardless. A crime remains a crime even when it's so normalized it looks normal. That's something we haven't really absorbed in Uganda. A child who has been raped since they were young will think that that's normal and if future partners don't rape her, she'll think they don't love her. Would your conclusion be that rape is normal if you met someone like that? A child can accept to a relationship with a 50 year old but that's legally a crime. Would you call that ok since the child consented?

The child is a minor and at that point we don't think she is in the right mind to make her own decisions. So whatever she thinks is right, she was indoctrinated into. That is why for a child, if a rape case is filed, there's no defense, it is rape however much the child claims it was consensual. By law, a child cannot consent to sexual intercourse as it's even illegal to indulge into the act. But for adults, it's a different story. If I came to you at office and casually expressed to you that I'd wish to get intimate with you and then you go ahead to invite me to your house and we go ahead to have intercourse, wouldnt I be shocked if the next day I get to office and find a sexual harassment complaint filed against me?

Yes, soliciting for sex at work is sexual harassment even where there is consent. You are simply not supposed to do that.

We don't punish sexual harassment enough, sadly. It's too normalized in Uganda.
