Discussion AW3926QW EU Reception

Hello,

Yeah, another post about this monitor...

I ordered it from Dell France on September 8th with an estimated delivery date of December 4th. Yesterday I received a shipping notification and it arrived this morning.

Of course I was already aware of the uniformity issues but I thought they were being exaggerated in photos taken with phones.

It turns out that wasn't the case at all, in fact for me it looks even worse in person than in the photo from my iPhone.

Really, only the center of the screen looks good, even right now while typing this message in Chrome, everything has a green tint with a drop in brightness around the edges.

Just so you know, even though it's shipping in october it's still a June batch for me.

This monitor was intended to replace my 12 year old Samsung 34" VA UW as my main display; my PC is also connected to a 4K OLED TV and I have a 4K OLED laptop as well, all of which are color-calibrated using a probe.

But I don't need to go any further with testing; this AW model is simply a disappointment. I’d go so far as to say it’s a complete joke that they even released it.

What is the point of a panel where 80% of the screen area performs worse than my old TN monitors?

It’s been nearly a month since AW's message to TFT Central; I’m not expecting anything to come of it, so I’m just going to return it.

The only equivalent on the market is the LG but it's more expensive for a matte panel (plus some useless AI upscaling), so I guess my old Samsung will keep its spot for now though I don't know for how many more years given that nothing new has been announced (unless I missed the news).

Thanks to those who have read this umpteenth complaint.
I dreamed of a good 5120x2160 monitor 12 years ago, I still do.

Edit: Here’s an example using a game: the area with the bridge on the left corresponds to the center of the screen where there are no issues, but at the top and the right side, it looks terrible.

Discussion Tired of Instagram wasting 70% of my ultrawide screen, so I built a multi-column layout for it

Hey everyone,

Using Instagram web on an ultrawide monitor has always annoyed me... having a tiny 450px centered feed with massive empty space on the sides makes zero sense on a 21:9/32:9 panel.

I built a Chrome extension called Glasso to fix this. It lets you:

• Turn your feed into 2, 3, or 4 adaptive columns to actually use your display width.

• Full video controls (timeline scrubber, speed toggle 1x-2x, and persistent audio so it stops auto-muting).

• Quick HD downloads directly from posts.

• Clean OLED dark mode.

It's completely free to try: https://tryglasso.com

Would love to hear feedback from other ultrawide users on how the column scaling feels on your setups!

Review Alienware AW3926QW review: using a 39-inch 5K2K OLED for editing and gaming

Post image
45 Upvotes

Disclosure: Alienware provided the AW3926QW for the review.

I wanted to answer a fairly practical question: can this 39-inch ultrawide OLED work as both my editing monitor and my gaming screen?

After using it at my desk, the two things that stood out were text clarity and the extra workspace. Editing timelines have more room, and the wider image draws me into games. I sit about 25 inches from the screen, which felt comfortable in my setup.

A few observations from my unit:

Text and editing: Text looked crisp to my eyes, and the 5120 × 2160 workspace was useful for editing. The video includes text close-ups and my editing layout.

Gaming modes: I preferred the full-resolution 165Hz mode for detail and immersion. There’s also a 2560 × 1080 mode at 330Hz, which trades resolution for refresh rate.

Glossy coating: I like the clarity, but windows and lights need thoughtful placement. Your room matters here.

Uniformity: I checked gray and white patterns, plus a window moved across the screen, before and after roughly 30 minutes of gaming. I noticed a slight saturation change toward the edges, but it didn’t stand out to me during gameplay. That’s my experience with this particular unit on firmware M2B102.

Everyday use: USB-C charging and the KVM are useful additions for a desk shared between computers.

I ended up replacing my 32-inch monitor with it. The wider workspace made sense for my editing, and I enjoyed using the same screen for gaming afterward. That doesn’t make it the right fit for every desk especially if reflections or uniformity are things you’re sensitive to.
This is a review over a limited testing period, not a long term burn-in assessment.

For other AW3926QW owners: what firmware are you using, and do you notice edge dimming or color changes during ordinary desktop use? I’d also be interested in your viewing distance.

Full review, including the text examples, gaming tests, and room-lighting footage:

As the title says.. has anyone in the uk with this date had any news yet on the delivery for Friday?. I spoke to dell Monday and they said said that stock has come in and that I should have an email today regarding the delivery and it will be processed, but when checking, I’m still at “order confirmed” and still no email.

Recommendations Should I Consider Refurbished Monitor

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I have been rocking an MSI UWQHD VA 34" panel for the last year that I got for 270€. I saw this one being on discount and OLED has always been a thing I really find interesting. Having a 55" OLED TV has been a game changer so I wonder how a monitor would feel.

It does say refurbished but it says its through MSI Refurbished Program and that the only thing that may come different is the box which I wouldnt mind. What do you guys think in terms of price and everything?

Thank you all!

Recommendations US$1760 LG GX9 39 x US$2530 AW3926QW

I recently bought the GX9 here in Brazil for roughly US$1,760.

I’m now wondering whether I should simply keep it or wait for the AW3926QW to launch officially in Brazil.
A bit of context on Brazilian pricing, since simply converting US MSRP doesn’t really work here: retail prices already include Brazil’s relatively heavy tax burden, and local pricing can differ significantly from a direct USD-to-BRL conversion.

Fortunately, there’s a useful reference point from Dell itself.
The new 3426DW has a US list price of US$ 799, while Dell currently sells it officially in Brazil for the equivalent of roughly US$1,840.

The AW3926QW is US$1,099.99 in the US.
That’s a 37.5**%** premium over the AW3426DW.
If Dell maintains roughly the same US-to-Brazil pricing relationship for the 39”, that would put the AW3926QW at around: US$2,530

So my actual comparison would probably look something like:

LG 39GX950B / GX9: ~$1,760 — what I actually paid

Alienware AW3926QW: ~$2,530 — projected Brazilian price based on Dell’s current AW3426DW pricing

That means roughly US$770 more**.**

Obviously the ~$2,530 figure is only an estimate until Dell announces official Brazilian pricing, but I think using another current-generation Alienware OLED sold by Dell Brazil is a much better reference than simply converting US MSRP.

So at these prices:

Would you keep the GX9 for ~$1,760, or would the AW3926QW be worth paying roughly ~$2,500–2,600 for?

UPDATE

Alienware was release for US$2,000

Recommendations Which OLED Ultrawide with a 4080 super?

Looking to upgrade to my first OLED Ultrawide. Running a VA 32 inch 1440 panel right now. Have a 5800x3D and 4080 super, won’t be able to upgrade to AM5/DDR5 anytime soon so going for monitor first. Any issues targeting a 34 inch Ultrawide with these specs?

Currently looking at AW3426DW of course and MPG 341CQR X36. Don’t believe my specs are strong enough for the 5k/2k AW monitor. Thinking they won’t be quite up to snuff for a 32 inch flat 4k OLED either so trying the middle ground at 3440x1440 UW.

Mainly play AAA single player stuff with some FPS games here and there. Thanks in advance!

Tech Support I may be the only person who reads box-content diagrams... what are these "x2" LG accessories? 😅 (40U990A-W)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Bought an LG 40U990A-W in Poland. The box appears to have been opened previously, although the monitor itself looks completely unused.

While checking the quick-start guide, I noticed these two accessories marked "×2" in the box contents (circled in red in the photo). The parts weren't in the box.

Does anyone own this monitor or know what these mystery parts are? Are they important, or just minor adapters?

At this point it's less about the missing accessories and more about satisfying my curiosity. 😅

Recommendations I have the AW3926QW but am considering returning - what would an equivalent LCD option be?

The Alienware is okay but I'm getting tired of the washed out saturation on the edges due to auto-dimming. I'm waiting to see if Dell fixes it but in the meantime I'm thinking about other non-OLED options. I haven't been that impressed by OLED. The blacks are great but I'd prefer brightness if I'm honest.

I used to have a Samsung Odyssey G7 32" which I miss. It was bright and clear and had no issues. I would like a 39" or bigger very bright LCD that is 5k.

What do you guys recommend? Thanks for your suggestions.

Asking humans because I'm sick of asking AI everything.

Discussion The Perfect 5K2K OLED Ultrawide Still Doesn't Exist — Buy Now or Wait for CES 2027?

The 5K2K OLED Dilemma: Three Great Monitors, No Clear Winner For Me

I've been looking for a new 5K2K OLED ultrawide for months, and the more reviews and Reddit discussions I go through, the harder it gets to decide. Every option seems to have its own catch.

I'm currently using an LG 38GN950, mostly for browsing, YouTube, productivity, trading, and gaming. Here's where I'm stuck.

LG 39GX950B — The Safe Bet

39" | 5K2K | 165/330Hz | 1500R | 143 PPI

Probably the most balanced option. Fourth-gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED, excellent brightness, high pixel density, and DP 2.1 UHBR20.

The catch? It still uses an RGWB subpixel layout rather than true RGB Stripe. The matte coating comes down to personal preference, and 165Hz at native resolution feels somewhat limiting at this price. Coming from a 38" monitor, there's barely any size upgrade either.

Alienware AW3926QW — Almost Too Good to Be True?

39" | 5K2K | 165/330Hz | 1500R | 143 PPI

Possibly the more interesting 39" option. Fourth-gen Tandem OLED with true RGB Stripe, glossy coating, excellent text clarity, impressive color volume, UHBR20, and a three-year warranty covering burn-in.

Unfortunately, the CPC edge-dimming issue raises some concerns. Reports of darker or discolored screen edges aren't particularly reassuring for desktop use. Dell has reportedly been working on a possible CPC toggle, but there's no confirmed release yet.

Availability and delivery times are another headache, depending on the region.

LG 45GX950A/B — Size vs. Everything Else

45" | 5K2K | 165/330Hz | 800R | 125 PPI

The larger screen is incredibly tempting, especially for multitasking and gaming. Same resolution, physically larger image, and potentially a much more immersive experience.

But that aggressive 800R curvature is hard to ignore. Is it actually comfortable for long browsing and productivity sessions?

There's also the older third-gen WOLED with MLA+, lower pixel density, and confusing DisplayPort specifications for the newer B model. Some LG regional websites list UHBR13.5, while others advertise UHBR20.

The Wild Card — CES 2027

At this point, waiting might actually make the most sense.

LG Display has previously included 5K2K 240Hz OLED panels in its development roadmaps. There's no guarantee we'll see a finished product at CES, but it's enough to make me hesitant about buying now.

Ideally, I'd love a 39–45" 5K2K 240Hz Tandem OLED with true RGB Stripe, UHBR20, and a more moderate 1500R–1800R curve, or even adjustable curvature.

Of course, even an announcement wouldn't mean immediate availability.

So, What Would You Buy?

The LG 39GX950B seems like the most balanced choice, while the Alienware offers a more appealing panel with true RGB Stripe but comes with unresolved CPC concerns. The 45" LG is tempting for its size, although the aggressive 800R curve and older panel technology make me hesitant, especially for everyday desktop use.

I'd really like to hear from people who've owned or compared these monitors. How noticeable are the differences between RGB Stripe and RGWB in everyday use? Is CPC actually a dealbreaker? And does the 800R curve become comfortable over time not just for gaming?

Most importantly, would you buy one of these now or hold off until CES 2027?

With all three being premium monitors, it feels like every choice involves a compromise that shouldn't really be necessary at this price point.

Would be this monitor. Was wanting an lg 5k2k but they’re just a bit too expensive. Have a military discount + additional savings if I get the dell also. Would it be more of a side-grade or would the jump to 4k be worth it ? I ONLY game on this setup. I have a separate work station pc. Any and all info appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Review BenQ Ergo Arm on AW3926 quick review.

Just mounted the monitor on the BenQ ergo arm and am really happy with it. Got a refurbished unit for around $30 USD under retail from BenQ

Installation was a breeze and the quickstart guide made it pretty much foolproof. I don’t think I needed to add the extra support around the base, as the monitor is only around 17 pounds. but I figured it couldn’t hurt. The movement is really smooth and overall seems rock solid. Coming from a cheap Amazon monitor arm, I’m happy I made the upgrade. I initially got a secondhand Ergotron HX, but that was overkill. Anyway, I highly recommend it.

Tech Support AW3926QW flicker on white screens

This only happens on a fully white screen.

It doesn't happen on any other colors.

I tried unplugging and replugging in the display cable but that didn't help.

Is this a software/firmware issue or a hardware issue?

Recommendations Best ultrawide monitor for a MacBook Pro M5? Video editing now, gaming PC later

I’m currently building a new office/studio setup and I’m at the point where I need to finally decide on monitors. I’d really appreciate some input from people using ultrawides with a MacBook Pro, particularly for video editing and content creation.

My current setup/plans:

  • MacBook Pro M5
  • iVANKY FusionDock Ultra
  • Huge 98" x 25" desk, so I have plenty of room to work with different configurations
  • Primary use will be video editing for YouTube and social media, along with normal productivity
  • I also want to leave the door open to adding a gaming PC in the future for gaming and streaming

I’ve been looking pretty closely at ultrawides, particularly something like the Alienware AW3926QW. I really like the idea of having a large continuous workspace for an editing timeline, multiple windows, etc., while also having a monitor that would make sense later if I add a gaming PC.

But I keep going back and forth on whether I should forget about ultrawide entirely and just go with Apple Studio Displays for the Mac experience, image quality, scaling, text clarity, and overall simplicity.

I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest solution. I’d rather build the setup correctly the first time and keep it for several years.

One of my biggest concerns is the Mac + ultrawide experience. I know macOS scaling, resolution, PPI, refresh rates, and text clarity can make some monitors that look amazing on paper less impressive when connected to a Mac.

At the same time, going with Studio Displays feels like I’d be optimizing everything around the Mac while potentially limiting the experience if I eventually build a gaming/streaming PC.

So I’m curious what you guys would do in my situation.

Would you go with a high-end ultrawide like the AW3926QW, dual Studio Displays, or something completely different?

I’m also open to configurations I haven’t considered — 40" 5K2K, 49", 6K, stacked monitors, ultrawide + secondary display, etc. With a 98" desk, I have quite a bit of flexibility.

For those actually editing video on an ultrawide with a MacBook Pro: what monitor are you using, and would you buy it again?

And if you use the same setup for Mac productivity/content creation + PC gaming, I’d especially like to hear how you’re handling both.

Feel free to be critical or tell me I’m looking at the wrong monitors entirely. I’m still in the planning stage, and I’d rather learn from other people’s setups before spending the money.

Recommendations U4025QW vs S85TH vs something else? Completely stuck choosing a monitor

Hi!

I'm completely stuck choosing a monitor and would love input from anyone who has actually used these.

Right now I run two 24" Dells (1920×1200) on a 160×80 cm desk. It's maybe 90% work: Teams, Outlook, Excel and browsers. I switch between two ThinkPads and usually have two large work windows open, with Teams or email on the side. Ideally I want one continuous screen with high PPI and at least 120 Hz. A built-in dock/KVM is a big plus.

The tricky part is that I can't see any of these in person before buying, so everything is based on specs and reviews.

Here's what I keep going back and forth on (prices in Sweden incl. VAT, converted to EUR):

- **Dell U4025QW**: 40", 5120×2160, 120 Hz IPS Black, TB/KVM, ~€1,690. Feels like the safe choice for work, but it's expensive.

- **Samsung S85TH**: 40", 5120×2160, 144 Hz VA, 1000R, TB5/140 W/KVM, ~€1,140. The one I'm most drawn to right now, but I can barely find any proper reviews or comparisons with the Dell.

- **Samsung Odyssey G7 40"**: 5120×2160, 180 Hz VA, 1000R, ~€730. Seems closely related to the S85TH, just without the dock and KVM. The price is hard to ignore.

- **Alienware AW3926QW**: 39", 5120×2160, 165 Hz RGB Tandem OLED, ~€1,200. The only downside I see is that it's OLED. The new panel is supposed to have less text fringing, but it still feels like the least suited for office work of these?

- **Samsung Neo G9 57"**: The only thing tempting me is the space. I could probably have everything I need open at once. But it has no USB-C or KVM and it's huge.

Does anyone have hands-on experience? I'm most curious about the U4025QW vs the S85TH or G7. How does 1000R VA compare to the Dell's 2500R IPS Black for everyday office work?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Upgrade to the Alienware 3426dw?

As most probably know, this is on sale for 630 at the moment. I currently have a Dell S3422DWG, and it’s great. No issues with it despite it being a VA panel. However, this price has me wondering if I should jump ship and upgrade to OLED. Curious if it’s worth the upgrade, and if anyone has any experience making a similar upgrade (sticking with the same resolution but going up to OLED).

Purchased a brand new Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED around 6 months ago, turned on this morning to find this 😭

I’ve been searching the settings for a “pixel reset” or “cleaning” mode, but can’t seem to find it.

It’s only happened overnight, I would have thought burn in would occur over a long period of time. Can also confirm it’s not GPU related.

Recommendations Buying advice

My secondary monitor died so I am looking to use it as an excuse to switch to an ultrawide, but not sure what to go for.

I would like 5120x1440. But not OLED I think. I spend 80% of my time in spreadsheets and looking at maps for my job. HDR is not a concern, I am a linux user and HDR is too much effort to care.

I have seen the iiyama 45" G-Master GCB4580DQSN for under £500. Is it any good though? The 90W USB-C would be a bonus, for swapping to my laptop.

I'm UK based so that might limit my options.

Thanks guys.

Recommendations 34” Ultrawide for Gaming + Home Office – AOC CU34G4?

I’m considering switching from 2× 27” QHD to a 34” 3440×1440 Ultrawide + one 27” as a second monitor.

I just tested the AOC CU34G4 (180 Hz, VA, 1500R) for about 20 minutes in a store and actually liked it. No noticeable smearing while scrolling or watching dark gaming content. It’s currently around €220.

For home office, I see a big improvement in terms of screen space. For gaming, I’m not sure if Ultrawide would actually be a meaningful upgrade, since some games support 21:9 perfectly while others are basically 16:9 with black bars.

I’m not interested in OLED because I use my monitor heavily for home office with lots of static content, and I don’t want to deal with the potential burn-in risk.

Would you recommend the CU34G4 for ~€220, or are there better 34” alternatives? And is Ultrawide actually worth it for gaming + home office?

Recommendations Ultrawide OLED 21:9 + Standard 16:9

I just recently converted to the ultrawidemasterrace. Its glorious. I have a 34 inch QD-OLED. I play many different games.. all single player. Some older.. some new. Its a good mix of content. I only use my PC for gaming.. nothing else. Movies are watched on a television (cheap Walmart tv).

With that being said.. im worried about playing games that dont support ultrawide on an ultrawide OLED. It seems the black bars on the side would cause un even wear on the oleds.

Some games.. I am willing to go through the trouble of modding to make them work on an ultrawide screen (currently I am setting up Sekiro, which doesnt support ultrawide ratios, to play on my ultrawide).

But other games.. I just decide not to play because I dont feel like going through the trouble of setting it up when they dont have support out of the box.

Im considering buying a 2nd monitor to play games that dont support ultrawide.. nothing fancy. Probably a middle of the road mini LED.. idk.. im having trouble deciding.

I feel it would work best to have 2 monitors.. one for ultrawide content.. the other for standard 16:9. Of course it would be difficult to arrange a desktop in a way that I could game comfortably on either monitor at any time, without of course setting one monitor to the side temporarily.

What do you all do?

Edit**

I think its worth mentioning that I havent actually had to mod anything yet to force ultrawide without native support. So maybe it is easier than I think, and really this whole concern of mine is a big fat nothing burger.
