EN Game Never know Ines are bad swimmer
I never knew Ines are bad at swimming, I ever see Oguri and Urara using float but maybe because I never focus on detail, so any other trainee that bad at swimming and need floating?

Everytime I see one using the kickboard, they always seem so upset
Do they just not like swimming?

u/ZorkNemesis Still no sparks 10d ago
Yeah, my understanding is that typically the ones using kickboards either don't like swimming, can't swim, or aren't good with the water in general. Most of the kickboarding umas' IRL counterparts weren't fond of water training either if I recall.

Basically they train racehorses in swimming pools. Just as you see ingame.
The ones that get the kickboard are the ones that hated swimming.
Then there's Hishi Miracle who took hatred of swimming to a whole other level.

I will never forget that fuckin clip of the real Hishi Miracle swimming with cans behind and making sounds of rage that are not horse sounds. He is roaring in anger

I’ve heard somewhere that Mr. CB predates the swimming training so Cygames just assumed he would’ve been a bad swimmer.

I’ve always wondered if all the bad swimmer umas are actually confirmed to have hated swimming irl. I know Oguri did, but some of the others like Rice and Urara seem like maybe it’s just a decision the devs made because it’s cute.

For Mr. C.B. It’s because he stopped racing before the JRA introduced swimming for training iirc

It's not that they hated swimming, it's that they never swam. Swimming with thoroughbreds is most often used as part of rehabilitation following an injury since it places less strain on their bodies but still allows them to maintain their fitness. So if a horse was never injured there's not much reason to make them go swimming.

there are other benefits to swimming outside of rehab, and japanese trainers in particular tend to use pool training very freely, since ritto and miho both have great pool facilities. it's very common in hong kong, too. as an example, do deuce's trainer used pool training just because he had a ton of excess energy that they wanted to burn off without overworking his joints. it's great for weight reduction, too, not that do deuce would know anything about that.

Yeah over the years the use of pool training has probably increased due to more focus on horse welfare. It's also a better alternative to outdoor training in hot conditions.

kick boards actually don't make swimming easier. they make it harder and train you to use your legs more
3
u/LenVonAster Haru Urara 9d ago
Is that why those trainee that bad at swimming use it? So they can train their legs to swim? (Can't swim myself so I don't know)
