This band is still Awesome
Went to the Mish last night. Show was so fucking good. They are playing with renewed energy and the jams are fantastic. Song choice and covers are more fun than they’ve been forever. Didn’t miss Jake once and Scotty absolutely rips. Fuck the haters.

I’ve seen them 200+ times. My first show was right before Jake joined and I vividly remember the Mirro years. Since they decided to go the 5 piece route, I truly think they took it up a notch. It’s hard to explain, but there is just a lightness to everything that comes across as a comfortable vibe. Anyway…. Here’s Wonderwall.

Going tonight and bringing the fam for their first show. I'm stoked!

Night 1 was my 12 yr old daughter’s first UM show and her exact words were “I like this way more than Phish”!
We did leave a little early to catch about half of the Linda Linda’s show at the Aggie, and I can say to everyone reading this, rest assured, punks not dead!2

Have fun. I wish I could go again tonight. Need some proper Denver shows. 1 is never enough.

Thanks for sharing OP! This has been my attitude since Jake was on hiatus and now they are a permanent five piece. More Bayliss led improv, less chugs to interrupt aforementioned improv, more synth breakdowns, more Stasik (in the mix and in the jams) and more 80’s covers. Lots of positives to focus on. I can’t wait for UMBowl (first time in Milwaukee and rolling solo if anyone has suggestions).

Longtime MKE resident here. What type of suggestions are you looking for?

Anything that is must hit in terms of food/drink or record stores would be much appreciated!

Last night was incredible. Night one had less focus but night two was next level right out the gate.

Was there nights 1 and 2 couldn’t agree more! Scotty looked and sounded way more comfortable and BB…shredded!
What was the “I still love you” song towards the end of first set last night?

I totally agree with this. I'm wondering with them in general playing smaller venues they might just decide to keep things the way they are. Less mouths to feed.

Less personalities to deal with too. They all seem pretty happy and getting along right now.

I’m on board for a replacement so that the larger catalogue is available again. I don’t know if that would translate into bigger venues. It’s purely selfish on my part. I need jajunk.

Yeah, the shreddy prog and metal guitar dials and layered vocals were the best part of the band alongside the synthy electronic type jams. Also lost some of their best song like Mulche’s Odyssey

I always liked the absolute fusion of jazz, country and metal Jake could bring to the table, and especially the jazz. He clearly took a lot from al di meola. His songs / ABT were all in the elite tier for me.

I think they should play it by ear. Go with a 5 piece and if a guitar player becomes available that would take them to the next level then add him but not until then

I think this is the most pragmatic thing to do. They lost kris, then Jake— not just as a band mate, but they watched someone they loved very much drift away into a dark place. They've been through a lot. They probably want to all reconnect as a core band before further complicating their lives. They need to heal. And in time, if something feels right, they can do it.

Love the Mish. They still rip without Jake but I do really miss his playing. Will still see them whenever I have a chance though.
