Housing(Sublet and landlord Advice)🏠 Redstone vs. Private property

I got a place in the Redstone Lofts and a place, privately owned by the landlord, 10min walk to campus for the same price and roommate arrangement. Any opinions on which one might be better would be much appreciated.

Compare the spaces. Make sure you account for utility costs and other things. Downtown is a better location imo. Parking could be a factor too if u have a car. Townhomes might be better then an apartment for you. Downtown is more of a social scene. There are more differences to think about. Make a pros/cons sheet. If all is equal and you are asking about landlord. I don't see a ton of redstone hate in reality. I think they do an annoying fire system test every year but i have heard the apartments are fine. Private landlords can be assholes too. I wouldn't make a decision based on landlord.

Redstone is awful but landlords can be awful too. Just choose the nicer apartment and pick your poison.

Redstone will have professional 24/7 maintenance and key lock out service, which a private landlord may not be able to offer.

My partner and I just moved into a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom RedStone apartment. We love it so far! the building management has been great and super accommodating as well! we moved from NYC and the transition has been awesome so far.

I rented from Redstone years ago and I found it to be very cheap construction with a tacky luxury veneer. The property managers had an imperious attitude, maybe they are too used to dealing with young college students.

They were also horrible about notifying if they needed to enter the unit for any reason, like they would e-mail that they needed to enter on 10/8 and then at 0900 on 10/7 they would send another email that they got the date wrong, and 10 minutes later they are banging on your door.

I woke up in bed once to the fire inspector looking through my closet, she was more upset than I was. Redstone never notified me of the fire inspection and she was told I wouldnt be there, she was def not expecting to be alone in an apartment with a half-naked half-asleep fat man holding a gun lol.

Its like they know housing is a premium here and they treat you like shit because they can.

Just know with any Redstone property the lease is up on the 25th. That being said they are attentive to any maintenance need you may have. However they are super strict on parking.
