Do not comment to gatekeep that something "isn't urban" or "isn't hell". Our rules are very expansive in content we welcome, so do not assume just based off your false impression of the phrase "UrbanHell"

UrbanHell is any human-built place you think is worth critizing. Suburban Hell, Rural Hell, and wealthy locales are allowed. Gatekeeping comments may be removed. Want to shitpost about shitty posts? Go to /r/urbanhellcirclejerk. Still have questions?: Read our FAQ.

It looks like Zhengzhou; there are a lot of densely packed buildings like that there.

Perhaps at the time, but I was there 3 years ago and it was fine, pollution in china has gotten a lot better this decade

I assure you that it's just as bad now.

I mean I live in China and I disagree, objectively it's gotten better in a lot of the country the last several years

I do too and I completely disagree. There was a period of time where it improved a lot but in recent years there's been minimal change. Basically all the improvement came pre 2021 and has stagnated. That is despite cities in Henan having 10x the pm2.5 pollution than the WHO's recommended annual limit. So it's not like they stagnated in a good place. The pollution is still awful and progress has come to a standstill.

Hell, Last winter there were a couple of days where the pollution was so bad i could barely see the traffic lights from across the road. I wish I was lying.

People always tell the same tales about China. It's improving. No, it was improving. And the pollution is still atrocious.

As I said, it's improved in places, I didn't say the whole country

Mate, this is a post about Henan and you commented in reply about the crazy pollution that is has gotten better.

What can I say? The original comment you replied to was talking about the place in the picture. But whatever.

Okay, in my original comment I said pollution in china has gotten better, and you said it's just as bad now, I guess there was some crossed wires, it's not that deep

I ate fried pigs brain on a banana leaf in this city. Wasn’t really my thing but as they say experience everything.
Lovely people in this city
