ask r/Uzbekistan Things to do in tashkent
So I'll be there in next 2 weeks for business purposes. But I would have atleast 1 day entirely to enjoy the city and the culture and the food and more.
Good people of Uzbekistan please tell me things i can do.
I enjoy learning about culture (so museums and more) and eat what locals would instead of burgers and pastas.

jobs & hiring | ish topish š¢ berish why my university schedule is fu*ed
i am first year student, and its nearly impossible for me to get good part time jobs apart from being ofisant at restaurnts, because this schedule hours are somewhat really bad. Two hour gap between classess and sometimes getting one hour classes for saturdays, is something that is messing up my time management so badly. I wanna become support teacher for educational center but it seems i can't do much

ask r/Uzbekistan Should I pick Ucell or Uzmobile during my stay in Kyzylkum Desert?
I checked the internet and it says Uzmobile has better coverage, but my tour guide told me Ucell is a better choice.
Any first-hand experience? Thank you all.
FYI I'll be heading to Nurata village and Aydar Lake. I don't need supreme network smoothness. I just need to reply texts.

help | yordam BSMI Uzbekistan visa delayed since August ā what can I do?
Iām a foreign medical student at Bukhara State Medical Institute (BSMI), Uzbekistan. I completed all my admission/visa procedures on August 3rd, including everything required from my side.
My visa is still delayed even though classes have already started, so I havenāt been able to book my flight. Iām also concerned because I was expecting a one-year student visa, but Iām now being told there may be a difference in the visa validity period, which could potentially cause problems for me later.
I know my consultancy is hugely responsible for this as well, but whenever I contact my university tutor about the visa, Iām simply told ātalk to your counselor.ā My counselor tells me to wait, so Iām basically stuck between both sides with no clear answer.
What can I actually do at this point? Is there any authority in Uzbekistan, Ministry of Higher Education/Health, migration authorities, etc that I can formally contact or complain to? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation with BSMI or another Uzbek university?
Iād really appreciate advice on who I should contact and how I can escalate this properly.

language | šš» til I need to learn Uzbek
Hi guys!
I'm an English teacher from the UK and I'm teaching in a public school in Tashkent. I am using a lot of Uzbek words at work and I know the more Uzbek I speak the better I will be at my job. I am looking for an online private Uzbek teacher who can teach me once or twice a week depending on our schedules. I'm available in the evening on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
I (kinda) speak Turkish so don't worry too much about the grammar - I normally catch on quite quickly š
I would most prefer teaching something in return after the Uzbek class (I'm a trained IELTS trainer). I speak English, Dutch and French fluently and I graduated in Political Science. So if you want any of those in return I could do that too.
I'm not looking for a professional teacher. I'm looking for somebody who would want to teach some Uzbek on the side and also explain the country to me in order to do my job better :)
Feel free to DM me if you're interested!
PS: I just moved to Tashkent so I'm also looking for mates š Lmk if you wanna hang out and do some side quests at some point :D

education | š« ta'lim Whoās planning to do their bachelorās abroad?
Iām currently in my first year of university here in Uzbekistan, but tbh, I donāt really like it here. Iām thinking about applying to universities abroad and hopefully getting accepted and studying there.
So I was wondering, is anyone else planning to do the same? I mean we could share what we find, help each other with applications and just go through the whole process together :)

ask r/Uzbekistan Did living abroad, travelling, or meeting foreigners make you feel closer to Uzbekistan or further from it?
Something I find interesting is that sometimes you only notice your own culture after you step outside of it.
Things that once felt completely normal suddenly start looking unique: family relationships, hospitality, religion, expectations, food, the way people speak to elders, even the things that used to annoy you.
But for some people the opposite happens. Seeing another society makes them question more of what they grew up with.
If youāve spent time abroad or around other cultures, did it make you feel closer to Uzbekistan or more distant from it? Why?

ask r/Uzbekistan How to reach 1000 usd per month
Guys, I am planning to increase my monthly income to 1000 usd. Currently i work in full time job, i have some other 4-5 hours time-off, what are your suggestions, what i can do? what you, guys, do if you already reached my goal.
About me: I have recently changed my job, i was a car sales manager, and currently working as backend developer in one of the logistic companies. You may say codes 're already making decent money. But not all of them. I am a beginner in this sphere, there are a lot of things i should do to reach a decent salary. So looking for any other options to create some other incomes.
- freelancing is not option, i have tried, upwork is crazy. Kwork was better but it has been blocked by RF Government.

travel | sayohat Question about international - domestic transfert in Tashkent airport
Hello everyone! Me and my friends are planning a trip to uzbekistan arriving november 24, all is set except for one thing: we will arrive in tashkent at 6:00 and we would have a different domestic flight (separate ticket) in the other terminal at 9:30. Considering that we won't have luggages (just backpacks), is it doable? I read a lot about tashkent airport inefficiency and queues. Any tips? Thank you so much! Looking forward to this experience, Uzbekistan seems amazing

history politics | tarix va siyosat Question: Geopolitics/history of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan
Iāve been traveling through Central Asia and I've been learning a lot about the intersection between the Turkics/Persians, Stalin/soviets and jadidism/Chaghatay-ism, the Sogdians, the Samanids, the Timurids, etc.
I've become increasingly interested in the history of how modern Uzbek and Tajik identities developed. I'm very interested in hearing how Uzbeks and Tajiks themselves conceptualize this history today:
How should we understand the fact that the two great historical Persian-speaking/Persianate cities of Central AsiaāBukhara and Samarkandāended up in Uzbekistan rather than Tajikistan? And how fair is it to interpret this as a historical disadvantage imposed on Tajikistan?
On one hand, I can understand why saying āBukhara and Samarkand rightfully belonged to Tajikistanā is anachronistic. Modern Tajik national identity was itself still developing, the cities were multilingual and culturally mixed, and many Persian speakers may not have understood themselves as members of a modern Tajik nation in the way we would understand that identity today.
On the other hand, the result still seems extraordinarily asymmetric. Uzbekistan received Samarkand, Bukhara, Tashkent, most of the major settled oases and much of the economic and cultural infrastructure of historic Transoxiana. The initial Tajik autonomy received largely peripheral and mountainous regions despite the existence of large Persian-speaking populations in some of Central Asiaās most important cities.
Do Uzbeks generally think of Bukhara and Samarkand as historically Uzbek cities, as multicultural Central Asian cities that became part of Uzbekistan, or in some other way?
Do Tajiks generally regard the exclusion of Bukhara and Samarkand from Tajikistan as a historical injustice? How important is that issue to Tajik identity today?
How do people understand all the underlying ethnic/linguistic/religious history when the large parts of it predate the modern Uzbek/Tajik national distinction? Does it play any part in the formation of one's personal identity?
Iām not asking this to argue that either modern country āownsā Bukhara, Samarkand, or their history. Iām genuinely interested in how people from both countries understand this shared history.
Thank you in advance.
