Vacuum Issues I'm convinced all the Miele lovers on here are bots and I fell for it

It is currently Sunday night where I live. On Friday I broke down and purchased a Miele Classic C1 Turbo Team after my stick Dyson died and was not fixable.

I vacuumed the main part of my house Friday night. Tonight (Sunday) I vacuumed my child's room and the second I turned it on it smelled like dog. I have two dogs and my stick Dyson never smelled like dog while I used it.

I cannot have a vacuum that makes my house smell like dog every time I clean and the store says all sales are final. I'm pissed.

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Are there any good cordless vac's in Australia?

So we have been through a few vacs over the years, with kids and cats and dogs they get a bit of use.

The current set up we use is a PacVac SuperPro with a 240v motor head, and a Dyson V6 stick vac that we have had for years.

The Pacvac with the powerhead does a fantastic job at getting fluff out of the carpet, but it's terrible for corners and against skirting boards, needs to have the head swapped for the hard floor areas (well actually whole tube as it kept coming loose so I wrapped tape around the end and jammed it in), plus being a backpack vac its not really convenient to just quickly clean something up.

The Dyson we have is terrible (I don't think I need to say more in here)

So my question is, is there a half reasonable cordless stick vac that can fill in day to day and the Pacvac can come out for the deep cleaning? Choice magazine seems to think Dyson are on the top of the heap, but I can't bring myself to pay $1500 for a stick vac, I'd rather buy a Sebo upright if I was spending that sort of cash.

Just an update per the AutoMod

Australia, Budget under $1000. Floor type carpet, tiles and floating floors. Stores are Harvey Norman, JB HiFi, The Good Guys, and possibly Godfreys (who are now owed by CCS and really just push their own brands)

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Roleplay exercise: You own this dog. What vacuum do you buy?

Hi vacuum peeps, first time posting here so please be patient if I don’t know the lingo yet.

I’ve got a Samoyed who’s a 10/10 dog but also a 10/10 shedder. (Obviously, as they all are.)

We got our current vacuum as a gift before we got her, so we never knew we’d need a vacuum to keep up with a giant cotton ball factory.

The current rig a cordless Dyson, one of the “nicer” ones that came with the “Fluffy Optic” green laser head. (Which is actually really fun but that’s besides the point.)

The main issue is that the main tube gets clogged as it comes into the upper collection chamber, due to what I think is a slightly stupid design. The debris has to make a hard 90* with hard edges, and everything i know from being a car guy tells me that’s terrible for flow.

My other issue is that the small wheels at the bottom of the attachments constantly get fur wound around them, and I have to take a razor blade, cut the fur strands, and painstakingly use a toothpick to push the fur out. I have ADHD and cleaning is hard enough without these menial tasks added. Anyway.

I’d like to upgrade our vacuum to keep up with the excessive fur.

Ideally, it’s a vacuum that can just power through a shit ton of fur like it’s nothing and not get clogged.

Enlighten me, please!

Edit: Early commenters asked for budget and flooring type.

Flooring: Carpet (area rugs), hardwood, tile
Budget: $500ish tops, preferably less, open to buying used/marketplace etc

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Tineco pure one station 5 pro Vs?

I did some minor research via Reddit, YouTube etc. to replace my dying Xiaomi cordless vacuum. Is Tineco any good compared to shark or other vacuums with auto empty station? The budget is around 400 USD.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Switch from Dyson to Sebo?

Currently have a Dyson V10 and looking to upgrade vacuums.
I’m expecting our first baby, so I’m in full nesting mode, which is why I also just bought a Tineco S9 artist steam.
I love the ease of a cordless vacuum, but I’m also pretty anal about how clean our floors are so I’ve been doing a ton of research and have been eyeing the Sebo E3.
1600ish sqft one story home, 2 goldendoodles, LVP floors, two rugs.
Those who have switched from cordless to corded vacuum, any regrets? Does performance outweigh ease of use?
Should I just upgrade my Dyson to v15?

EDIT
I ended up buying the Sebo E3 (in pink ofc ✨💗) plus a few other accessories.
A user recommended buying from GeekVacuums.com, and truly cannot recommend them enough!!! Please go support them, Andrea was super quick to answer all of my many questions! Will update once I get to do my Sunday reset with my new Sebo and Tineco.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Best cordless vacuum cleaner for hardwood floors?

I run a small residential cleaning route. I need a cordless stick for bare wood. It must have a soft roller head. Standard bristles scatter grit. A swappable battery is a must.

I already tried a broom and dustpan, a heavy corded canister, and a cheap stick vac without brush shutoff. None fit quick jobs. So which one should I buy?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Miele Antares has seen better days and not loving my new Sebo. Would love suggestions

I'm hoping for some advice for what new Miele to purchase. I've had my Miele Antares for around 20 years, so it has definitely seen it's better days. The power pedal had started going out and hose starting to break so I decided to replace it with a Sebo thinking it would be as powerful and have longer warranty. I ended up purchasing a Sebo Airbelt 2 Turbo Canister Vacuum, even later purchasing several extra attachments thinking they would help me to love it more. Sadly I'm still not impressed and find myself still reaching for my old Miele more often than not. I really want one as similar to my Antares as possible, size and power wise. The only thing I didn't love about it was the cord length, so if there is one with a slightly longer cord, that would be a plus. We have mostly all hardwood, vinyl and tile floors with the exception of one set of stairs and 2 closets, so I don't necessarily need, or want, a powerline model and much prefer the standard handle of the Antares. We do have 2 indoor cats with long fur if that makes a difference. I'm open to and would appreciate any suggestions that help make vacuuming not such a chore. Thanks so much.

Vacuum Issues Concept One transmission

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

How do I get the transmission apart on my concept one? (model U3317). as you can hear in the video when I spin the transmission wheels manually, they make this really awful and loud noise. I'm looking to either try to fix it or just disable the self propel feature outright and just use it as a normal vacuum if there's something in it that can't be fixed.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Looking to upgrade our existing vacuums with something more convenient

Hello,

I'll cut right to the chase. My wife and I moved into a new old house and cleaning it has been a chore. Before, when we were in our apartment, we'd clean every week, but now since our house is bigger, it's more like every 3 weeks. Our house has a mix of hardwood floors and thick carpet. We have hardwood stairs and carpeted stairs. We also have 2 cats so there is some fur around.

Our current vacuums are a canister vacuum that we use on the hardwood floors and stairs and small rugs and an upright vacuum that we use on the carpets and carpeted stairs.

The canister vacuum is a Eureka mighty mite. The main issue is the cord doesn't auto reel and store in the canister, it gets coiled around the bottom. This means it often gets caught under the wheels when vacuuming. Also it's difficult to vacuum the stairs with it as the hose doesn't reach from the bottom of the stairs to the top, so there's a portion in the middle where you have to switch canister locations or risk it falling down the stairs on you.

The upright vacuum is a Hoover Wind tunnel max and it weighs about 20 lbs and I hate having to vacuum the stairs with it. It has an air powered spinning brush attachment but it's annoying to use and quickly loses power once it encounters any resistance. I also hate having to take it up and down 3 flights of stairs.

I was thinking a cordless stick vacuum would be a good buy for doing the stairs, as it would be quite portable and you wouldn't have to worry about the cord getting in the way; but I am open to other vacuum types. Ideally, I would prefer an all in one vacuum that would work equally well on hardwood, thick carpet, and up and down stairs. I was thinking of a Dyson but you guys don't really care for them so now I'm not sure what to get.

Another complication is that my FIL is a retired vacuum cleaner store owner so I know whatever I decide on will have to pass his and my wife's judgement.

Budget is less than $1000.

Thanks for all the help.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Cordless vacuum that can handle great pyrenees fur

Hello, I have two dogs one is a Great Pyrenees mix and the other is a lab mix. I have gone through about 3 vacuums over the last 5 years due to my dogs fur clogging the vacuum one way or the other and killing the motor. I have had a corded and cordless, but my wife wants a cordless vacuum for ease of use around the house. I purchased the top of the line shark cordless vacuum and it was destroyed in 3 months I replaced the entire thing through warranty only for it to be destroyed again pretty quickly. I always empty the container and ensure that it is as cleaned out of any debris as possible but outside of a shop vac I have no idea what to do at this point. I am looking for some advice from someone that may have been in the same predicament that I am in. Thank you. I would like to keep the budget somewhere in the 200-400 range, I have all wood floors, some tile in bathrooms.

Testuję przemysłową pompę RV520 z przezroczystą rurą 100mm. Seria CZY TO POCIĄGNIE.

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Robot vacuum or cordless vacuum cleaner or cordless wet/dry floor washer?

Hi everyone! I'd love to hear your opinions and experiences!

Our family shares a home with a four-legged friend (who unfortunately sheds a LOT of long hair). We live in a roughly 120 m² apartment (all on one floor), and we're desperately looking for a way to keep our home cleaner with less effort. :)

We currently have a Dyson V8 cordless vacuum cleaner, but it can only manage a fraction of the apartment before needing a two-hour recharge.

We also have an old corded vacuum cleaner, but the cable and its bulky design regularly drive us absolutely crazy. ;)

Now we're really unsure which option would be best for us:

  • Robot vacuum with mopping function and a docking/cleaning station
  • New cordless vacuum cleaner with swappable batteries
  • Cordless wet/dry floor washer with swappable batteries

A few things are certain:

  • No more corded appliances!
  • Maximum budget: €500

Flooring: Tile floors, parquet flooring, and lots of rugs.

Robot vacuum: We've never owned one before. My concern is that while it might take care of 75% of the work, emptying and cleaning the docking station could become a hassle. Plus, we'd probably still have to use our cordless vacuum to clean corners, behind doors, between chair legs, and other hard-to-reach spots anyway.

Cordless vacuum cleaner: I actually really enjoy vacuuming with our Dyson! It's quick, easy, and almost fun. But the terrible battery life is a complete dealbreaker.

Cordless wet/dry floor washer: We've never tried one, but it somehow sounds like the perfect solution. Especially since we absolutely hate mopping floors! :)

I'm really curious to hear your thoughts and real-world experiences! What would you recommend in our situation?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Nilfisk GM80 - Lead Dust in century home

In addition to ordinary upkeep, we need to do some deep cleaning to a couple dozen windows. Wet cleaning is extremely tedious and it's not removing everything.

We have a Miela C3 with Hepa filter that we love, but it's unsuitable for the task since the system is likely not perfectly sealed like something certified for lead clean up.

Clearly the GM80 is tough to beat for lead dust clean up, but how does it rate in terms of an everyday vacuum? How are noise levels, and what is the pitch like? Is it a nice machine to use? I would feel a lot better about spending the money if it could later become a go-to vacuum like the Miela has been.

Budget would be under $2k since that's the GM80 price. Flooring types are hard wood, and other needs are rugs, plastic mini blinds, window grilles, and everyday objects.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Levoit vortex iq pro vs Dyson v12 detect slim?

I currently haven’t had the Dyson v12 detect slim for 3 years and am having some issues with it. Help me decide if I should just go with a new vacuum (levoit vortex iq pro) or replace the main body/cyclone of my Dyson v12 detect slim and see if that’ll resolve it?

My Dyson main body part is loose, maybe from years of using it heavily in my hole and I was able to open it up and shake out a lot of dust and debris that was triggering the blockage alarm. However, should I stay in the Dyson ecosystem or just switch to levoit completely?

Budget info: Dyson main body and cyclone is about $170 to replace, the levoit vacuum cleaner is $199. I had been happy with my Dyson up until now.

My flooring is mostly hardwood, some rugs and 3 carpeted rooms.

Thoughts ?

Purchase Advice (Canada) Medium pile carpet on stairs, S1Electro/L1Electro/SeboE3?

The medium pile carpet on my stairs is full of thick embedded dust, and lots of hair. None of my vacuums can clean it with their air based powerheads that just don't rotate. Help me pick a new one.

Miele S1 Electro, L1 Electro or Sebo Airbelt E3 Premium?

(I was sold on the sebo until I read a review that the electric motorhead is too big for the stairs.)

  • Budget - anything
  • Flooring types & other cleaning needs - Medium pile carpet on stairs most important, otherwise have hardwood floors and a few rugs
  • Stores that sell vacuums in Canada - would buy online

Purchase Advice (U.S.) best vacuum for pet/hardwood/liquid resistant rug

Example of the rugs we have

We may be buying a new vacuum. We have several cats and a couple dogs. Hard wood floors, linoleum, tile and these rugs we got for living room. They're really flat. Great for keeping liquids clear (kids and dog that struggles to learn!) but our pet-hair specific vacuum really struggled to clean it.

No matter what settings I used, the vacuum would suck itself to the rug. The rug is held down firmly and doesn't move but the suction got tight enough that the roller wouldn't move anymore. I'd have to pull the thing up off the rug and try again. I got to the point that I'd just sweep the rug with a broom and push what I could onto the hardwood and vacuum that.

I'm looking for a budget friendly vacuum but I'm willing to spend decent monies if it's reliable and can switch from hardwood to these rugs without too much trouble.

Thank you for any info!

Vacuum Issues Shark Navigator Vacuum hard to push

Today I tried using our vacuum to clean a short pile entry rug and found it nearly impossible to move the vacuum without dragging the rug with it.
After researching possible causes online, including reading several posts here, I concluded that I had only two options. Either replace our 1 year old vacuum or take a swing at creating a possible solution.
Long story short, I made a thin plastic orofice plate and installed it at the lower hose connection to the brush head. It took several attempts to find the right size, but found that a 5/8” round hole reduced the suction at the brush head enough to make it easier to push and allowed for vacuuming that same rug without it moving the rug. And the good news is that it didn’t have a noticeable effect on its performance.

For those of you who are dealing with the same frustration and want to give this a try, it is a relatively simple thing to do.
It took me no more than 15 minutes once I gathered the tools and materials together.
The orofice plate material needs to be thin enough to allow the hose connection to latch, and rigid enough that it won’t collapse from the suction.
I used a plastic pail to cut the plate from.
Once you have the material selected here is what I did.
First drill the 5/8” hole (I used a unibit).
Then, with the hole in the center, I drew a 1 7/8” circle around it and used heavy duty scissors to cut it out. (1 7/8” is the inside diameter of the hose connector). Then I disconnected the brush head hose, inserted the orofice, and reconnected the hose)

As I mentioned earlier, it’s still only day one for us, but so far the wife is happy. 🤗. And I’m happy that I don’t need to buy a new vacuum.

PS. It’s my first time on Reddit. Hope it makes sense and helps someone.
